I said before the gathering date/time was finalized that I would cosplay Amulet Heart with my daughter.  Well... we're cosplaying Amulet Heart on Saturday and wearing different Shugo Chara costumes on Sunday: Amu and Nadeshiko (both school uniform versions)

Hmm...  Actually, I'm letting my daughter decide what she wants to wear on Sunday.  So she might be Amulet Heart or she might be Amu.  *shrug*  But I'm going to be Nadeshiko.  :)

I changed my mind about cosplaying Hinata at this year's gathering.  Sorry, Brightheart.  I know you wanted more people to sign up for the gathering - and I'm not helping. :(

I'm cutting back on the number of costumes that I'm bringing to Fanime - and I'm wearing a different (non-Naruto) costume on the day of the gathering.  But I'll definitely stop by the gathering to take pictures.  And I might go the Naruto picnic, instead.

My bf will be Yoru and my other friend and her daughter will both be Amulet Heart.  And we might have an Amulet Diamond. 

As far as day, Saturday will work best.

I love Avenue Q.  They're hilarious.  I wish I could go see them perform live.  My favorite song is probably a tie between: "The Internet is for Porn" and "It Sucks to Be Me." :D

I don't normally dress up for Halloween.   :D  But the two times that I did cosplay for Halloween (which was years ago), I didn't want to constantly explain myself all day and all night.  So I printed a reference picture of my costume and carried it with me.  Then each time someone asked me who I was supposed to be, I just showed them the picture and said, "This.  It's from a Japanese cartoon."

It's the least frustrating way to make other people understand.

I'm not dressing up for Halloween this year.

Yes.  Shippu! Konoha Gakuen Den is basically an expanded version of the 2nd Shippuden ending.  Haha.  I'm behind on Shippuden, too.  Too many fillers!  With few exceptions, I don't like watching fillers.

Yeah.  She's so young that the gathering is kind of boring for her, especially since she doesn't even know what Naruto is!  :P  Haha.  She doesn't get to watch stuff like Naruto until she's older!  Right now, the anime she watches is stuff like Kiki's Delivery Service - which she loves, btw.  I think I'll leave it up to her to decide if she wants to come with me to the gathering.

People have been very nice and respectful when they ask for pictures of her.  :)

I've gone to the Naruto Gathering as Kurenai two years in a row.  So for 2010, I'm planning to do something different. :)

I've been having nightmares that for one reason or another I miss Fanime this year.  Seriously, I've had like 6 nightmares where I realize that it's 3 o'clock on the Saturday of Fanime and I'm still sitting at home (in Reno) and I just now realized that I forgot all about Fanime.  Anyone else have Fanime based anxieties?  Or am I just special.  lol.

Yes.  I just finished little Hinata's Shippuuden jacket!  Pictures here.  The rest of the costume still needs to be put together, but the hard part is done.  :)

Maybe.  I was thinking of getting lunch before the gathering actually.  (I get hungry early!)  I might join the picnic just to hang out, if there's nothing else going on.

You found them for $75?  I could only find the for $130 before shipping...from Japan.  I'll have to look harder.  I can do like $90 including shipping.  Yay for the internet.  :)

Ah... Sorry!   :-[  I went back to double check.  All the online stores that I found them in are all sold out.  They're pretty popular, I guess!

Why would this be a problem in a big gathering? sorry for the stupid question, but really, I want to know.

I assume that by "this" you're asking about the idea for Naruto couples photos?

The romantic in me would love to see cosplay pairs (i.e. SasuSaku, NaruHina, NejiTen, etc.) but I don't think that would be a good idea in a gathering as large as this one.  It could easily get out of hand.

There are a few reasons why I think it might be a bad idea in a larger group.  Here are a few:

1.  Organization: large groups = harder to organize.  How are you going to pair up cosplayers?  Randomly?  Make it like a school dance where boys ask the girls?

2.  In a group this size, there are going to be a lot of perfect strangers.  Romantic couple poses are (usually) more intimate than say team poses.  Some people might feel uncomfortable with posing romantically with a perfect stranger.  And I don't want them to feel pressured by the group to do something that they're not comfortable with because "everyone else is doing it".

Whereas, in smaller groups, you generally know the other cosplayers and are more comfortable with each other.  (I have friends that cosplay from the same anime/manga together as a group.)  Often, when I'm trying to get a photo of a specific pair together, I try to find cosplayers who are already hanging out together and look like they're already friends.  And I ask them privately, not in front of a big group, so that they can feel comfortable turning me down.

3.  Romantic poses can range from the innocent (hugs, holding hands, standing closer together, etc.) to the risque.  What offends one person might not offend someone else.  So it's probably better to stay away from it altogether.
