Hello everyone and welcome to the 2012 Kuro gathering! ZeeVee, Chaosbark and I will be running different aspects of it. Right now the plan for timing is Sunday at 4:30 pm, which will give us time to settle in and take pictures before high tea at 4:45!

You are cordially invited to the Queen's High Tea.
The tea will be held at
4 PM on Sunday, May 27th and will be held in conjunction with the fan-shots and crack pairings for your convenience. At this moment, the location has yet to be confirmed. If you are planning to attend the gathering and have been recorded on Raenef's list, we will assume that you plan to attend the tea unless otherwise noted. The tea will be started as we move onto the fan-shots/crack pairings to provide you with snacks as you watch/wait for the photos.
If you are willing and able, please bring a treat to bring with your fellow cosplayers. We will be listing those items being brought below. Thank you for your assistance and generosity.

Given how large our lovely gathering has become, we've decided to divide and conquer.
Raenef and ZeeVee have graciously volunteered to run the main gathering and the guest list.
Raenef will be calling out the group/household/character shots.
ZeeVee will be returning to take charge of the ever loved fan-shots and crack pairings. We all know how much you guys loved that last year! So start shouting out photo ideas so that ZeeVee knows what you would all like to see - you can call them out at the gathering too, but if we have a list then we'll know what is expected.
And Chaosbark will be organizing the tea party, which will be happening at the same time as the gathering - should give everyone something to do while waiting for their turn in front of the camera! We're also hoping to reserve a space with tables and chairs.
Let's make the Kuroshitsuji Tea Party Gathering at Fanime 2012 the best we've had yet!
I'll be checking this board fairly regularly just to see what people want if they are interested in the fan shots/Pairing Shots/crack shots.
I will edit this post as I get requests for different shots so that I have it as a list come next fanime. ALSO if you see me at a con AX 2011, Ycon 2011, or ALA 2012, feel free to talk to me about any specifics you want, like personal shots with friends or group crack shots etc etc.

Hello everyone! I hope your summer is going well. As summer begins to close and we start to head back to school, I'm going to start up the tea party portion of this gathering.
As the tea is being run in tandem with the gathering, we are assuming that you will attend both, so you need only respond once. As I leave the master list to Raenef, I will be in charge of only the menu for the tea. If you are willing and able, please volunteer to bring something to share for the tea.

So last weekend at y-con ZeeVee-McGee, chaosbark, and I all got together to meet face-to-face about this gathering. We're all getting super excited and we hope you guys are too! I know the board has been a bit quiet, but as fanime approaches I can guarantee this forum will get much more active! In the meantime just have fun everyone, play some games, get to know your fellow kuro cosplayers ^ ^.
One quick announcement:
Chaosbark is running the Tiger&Bunny gathering so if you think you'll be going to that as well just give us a heads up in the forum (or the t&b one :) so we can make sure they aren't too close together (especially if you're doing a hero suit. No fun having to change from a hero suit to a frilly petticoat or visa versa :P

Also, ZeeVee will be checking the forum to see what fanshots you would like to see done, so please post those here too. Requests will be taken at the gathering as well, but if you want to make sure that you get the shot you want I recommend that you post it in this thread.

So I'll for sure be cosplaying Beast from the Noah's Ark Circus now, this will not be changing unlike the previous posts ^^; (so sorry about that btw) Have been jumping to best suit the Ciel cosplayer I am with and now they've decided for sure to be doing Circus, so they'll probably also be at the gathering but they don't have a forum account to post it on here.

I'll be going as Sebastian and my significant otter will be Claude.
We're flying up, so I think the only safe/packable thing we can bring is bagged tea.

Bleach is down for 3:30 on Saturday and Final Fantasy is down for Saturday TBA.
I know you can't cater to everyone's schedule, but these are huge gatherings that many people are going to. I know the FF group and Bleach group are doing their best to not overlap.
If Tiger and Bunny has to be Saturday, can it be in the morning, like at 9am/10am???
If at all possible, can Tiger and Bunny be moved to Sunday Morning???
I have addressed scheduling questions for T&B in the appropriate thread.
Please remember that, as a returning 60+ cosplayer gathering, Kuroshitsuji gets priority in our time slot. T&B, however, does not.

Rooming with a group of Basara/T&B(yes, we are crazy for doing both...)/Kuroshitsuji(yes, raenef and I are the craziest of the bunch) cosplayers, I understand your prospective. Two costume heavy gatherings in one day with limited time between them can be more than a bit stressful. We can't promise that T&B and Kuroshitsuji will not be on the same day, but we will try our darnest to keep them from being within 2 or 3 hours of each other. Jumping from cosplay to cosplay with no time to relax/display your work is no fun at all.
Saturday is looking a little hectic with several large gatherings taking place. If our numbers do not grow much more, we may be able to keep the T&B gathering indoors. Please visit the T&B thread to discuss this more.
Just so you know, the day of the Kuroshitsuji gathering will change only if the day of the B&W Ball is changed. Also, we carefully considered the time of the gathering, making sure that all Masquerade participants are able to join the gathering before having to check in for that event.
Yes, I'm thankful it'll be before the time those in the Masquerade need to check in, as I'll have to change costumes for the Masquerade. OTL
We will be trying our best to make sure things don't overlap, but there is only so much we can do. We can promise you that T&b/Kuro/Basara will not overlap. Nor will Kuro overlap with masquerade. I apologize firemage, but we can only make sure we don't overlap with so many gatherings. Especially since final fantasy is TBA. As chaosbark said, let's try and keep these time ideas to their respective threads, and it helps bump them up!

Awwh don't say that! I personally, don't HATE lizzy, i find her annoying at some points. BUT recently in the manga, i have LOVED her, she became totally cool.

Nothing really that relevant, just pleased to be any sort of assistance. One note is that I know there are always numerous people who wish to take part in fan shots, but, it isn't always the most ideal to have more than one character in a photo or pose that is requested. Aside from that I will try to keep tabs on anything requested, and if anyone is adamant about something /specifically/ as in you are a die hard fangirl for that concept or pairing, I would recommend making a strong note of it to me in a message or in an email.

@CC- Those machines are normally the sturdiest! I much prefer going home to use my mother's really old sewing machine that's metal than my new plastic one. Have you found any tutorials on wings? I've seen a couple on deviant a while ago...

Haha Ash, I have everything prepared for my Gamzee cosplay aside from the hat and the shirt which I am dreading to cut out. Especially the puffy sleeves... but my pants came out wonderfully. SO if I can make something /decent/ you are set :D
Oh yeah Raenef, this this was hardcore once I got it working. So sturdy and the options are very diverse compared to newer one's I've used
I love old sewing machines too.
If they're not breaking and dying on you, they're pretty impervious and reliable.
Although I wish mine would stop launching needles near my eyes...
As for me, I've already finished Sebastian [nevermakingatailcoatagain].
I do need to trim his wig up, because for some reason there is a beastly amount of hair on that thing.
My secret cosplay and a Derse Jane commission are my only really stressful concerns,
because it's basically going to be detail city with beads for forever and ever after I reach a certain point. x_x

Whoa, looks like we are getting more people! Looks like I'll be be needing to buy more pretty plates. (I'll be bringing gold trim and beige or silver plates too...so it would kind of match the theme of Kuroshitsuji and whatnot.~) But I'm still debating on the muffins. I have a very important question. Which I would like to get a response from as many people as possible for some sort of feedback.
Well, if under proper conditioning. Would it be acceptable. For myself, as William T. Spears, to propose to my Grell during the gathering? You see we were engaged when she slept over and then we went to a cemetary and LONG STORY! And either way it is a photo opportunity, and fangirl opportunity. BUT MOST OF ALL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY! The "wedding" so to speak could be at the tea. And Grell is bringing a triple layered tier cake, that I don't think sharing at the tea would be any problem.
And she has sort of been looking forward to wearing her wedding dress for some time. Uhm, how do I, go about, Hm.
Women and fake weddings confuse me I can only say this.

Just so you know, the tea may be occurring at the same time as the gathering/fanshots as we will be using the banquet room that the Fanime staff have gotten for us. A nice place, indoors, and away from lobby traffic :3
Congrats on meeting your girlfriend last Fanime :) So long as you allow others to hog some of the camera spotlight, I see no reason for you not to have a mock wedding at the gathering.
And, I worry about spots as well - Raenef and I will be completely in white. Anyone with food had better not come close to me - I will kill if I see one spot. Trust me, even with my sunglasses on, I can see well enough to notice a spot.

Starting February 3rd, this forum will be hosting a cosplay photo contest for the upcoming Valentine's day holiday! The contest will run from February 3rd until February 29th (leap year's day)! So gussy yourself up and get ready to give us your best!
THE RULES
All pictures must be PG
There can be no more than 3 people in a picture
There is a singles category and a couples category
You may enter only once in each category
All pictures must be valentine's themed
All pictures must be new and for the contest
Pictures can have text but it has to be readable and PG as well
Photos and text will be judged together as a composite whole
If you are the winner, please PM chaosbark or raenef about any food allergies by April (the sooner the better)
If you are not planning to attend either the Tiger and Bunny gathering or the Kuroshitsuji gathering, please PM chaosbark or raenef by April to figure out a time so we can give you your prize

My boyf and I were planning on attending blizzcon instead of fanime this year and dun dun dun blizzcon gets canceled. UGH RAGE. Now I want to go to fanime, but is there enough time to get everything ready?! D:

BLIZZCON GOT CANCELED? O__O What happened??? Wasn't planning to go... but that's a huge shock to hear that it was!
Well since they announced Mists of Pandaria last Blizzcon, I think they feel like they have nothing to offer us. Also, they're working on Project Titan, MoP, and D3. They really really need to get on the MoP release because Cata has been out since Dec 10', usually they wait ~18ish months before a new expansion. A blue post also said that it wasn't supposed to be guaranteed yearly, but it ended up being annual for the last 5 years. It just stinks because people were expecting it (it would have been my first Blizzcon!) and then got let down. Sad really.

That's really disapointing on their part... I understand they have things to work on but it's a shame their convention had to get cut due to it :( I feel like the point of most conventions are because they're yearly, and Blizzcon certainly seemed to be doing well as one so that's pretty disappointing.... Yeah putting a gathering too close to Homestuck might not be a good idea...
I'm really sorry everyone, we had picked this time since the thread began last July. We have already asked BSapphire and we can't change the time. Perhaps ask the homestuck coordinators if they can change the time (if they have not submitted their time slot application)?

Guys I need help! I'm planning to do Mey-Rin's battle outfit (the maid outfit with the one leg showing like in the manga) but I don't know what to do with the glasses. I wear glasses myself (mostly contact lenses though) so should I use those and do kind of a sexy Mey-Rin style or just make the big circle ones?

Me and my girlfriend both love Kuroshitsuji, but we both wanted to cosplay Ciel >.<
I wanted to be Ciel in his Ball Gown disguise and she wanted to be normal Ciel in his red outfit. So we did the ones we wanted, I just also cosplayed as Lizzy as well, so that when we cosplay at conventions and go to a photoshoot we can be in the same pictures :)
She also cosplays Ciel in Wonderland and I'll be doing Alois in wonderland in the future.

Lingerie stores have them, that's where I got mine and they fit perfectly and have shown no signs of worn even after wearing them several times to conventions.

Mine won't be 100% accurate either (I got a shorter version of the ballgown and making some of my own adjustments to it), but it'd be boring if we had exact replicas of the same character, right? c:
