Yeah...uh, you realize that staying at the Motel 6 might have had something to do with it.  They do have a reputation of being 'cheap', and that's where shady characters like to go.

'Sides...I can think of worse things than being woken up by pimps.  Be thankful you haven't had to deal with bedbugs.

True, but I have been in better Motel 6s. The Century Blvd. one by LAX is very decent.

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: 24 Hour Comic
May 23, 2011, 05:43:37 PM
I know that whatever results will be as crazy as a mad lib. Perhaps we make it a "fill in the blank" comic where we start with one artist doing a few panels that seem closely non sequitor but other artists can fill in the blanks.

Ideas and Suggestions / 24 Hour Comic
May 23, 2011, 04:02:09 PM
We in the artist alley should run a 24 hour comic. Only instead of a number of artists all working on a different comic, we have 24 artists working consecutively each hour on one comic. It may be a copyright nightmare, but we could have the con make copies and sell the result for charity. We should probably have a theme and a fixed number of characters as a sort of foundation. I could help organize it if anyone is interested.

Will you please put the correct response in the form of a question?

Hotel and Facilities / Carpool 4 a couch.
May 23, 2011, 11:55:31 AM
Looking for a place to crash. Will trade for a carpool that seats 4 passengers. Must be within the Bay Area. Also, I'm an alley artist and will trade art for a place or even $$$.

Serious Business / Re: Swatstikas at Fanime?
May 23, 2011, 10:25:20 AM
*Wears his flame retard suit*

The nature of this debate is just another example of how weak-willed and over-sensitive many people are. The very fact that anyone deems anything offensive is part of the problem to begin with. Set aside the ethics of whether or not a swastika is "too offensive" for just a moment and consider this: What is the psychology of a person who allows themselves to be offended in the first place by a symbol?

A swastika makes (most of) us aware of the bigotry and genocide of the Nazi party. However, that "red band with the funny-looking cross" is not literally the bigotry and genocide itself. It creates an association in our minds and to be reminded of these associations bring in many the feeling of "offense". But to act on those offenses by saying something MUST be banned shows much about the lack of will and emotional fortitude on the part of the offended and gives away their own lack of character and true respect for free speech.

Six million gassed Jews offend me. Government oppression offends me. Rampant bigotry offends me. A cosplayer acting like an idiot by shouting zeig heil! does not offend me. I'm not that week.

By the way, yes, I'm aware I said "The very fact that anyone deems anything offensive is part of the problem to begin with" and later listed what I found offensive. I think we all find each other offensive to some degree, but that's why we also learn to tolerate each other. Something the real Nazis never quite figured out. Those poor sad bastards.

There is a place super close AND super cheap on weekends at least. Behind the Convention center by the South Hall is a rather small lot that's only $7-$6 for Saturday and Sunday all day.

The Motel 6 on Alameda by the HP Pavillion is SHADY. I was in SJ for the Big Wow comic fest last week. 4 times I was woken up by the sound of pimps yelling at their hos and at least once did a car pull into the motel driveway for the sole purpose of waking everyone up by blasting rap music at top volume. My room was of questionable odor and smelled like they used way too much Febreeze to cover up the smell of something else. Also, no shampoo.

Will be pooling from Lake County via Kelseyville, Lowerlake, Middletown, Calistoga, St. Helena, Napa, American Canyon, Benicia and down I-680. Have room for 4 more. 18 and over only, please.

Staying in Bay Area from a previous convention. Will still carpool with anyone in exchanging for a room.

I'm a big fan of this Weird Western tabletop game, and I was wondering if it was gonna appear in any form at Fanime this coming year! If you haven't heard of it before, look it up! It's great! But yeah, any Marshals or Posse members out there?

You and I must talk, pardner.
