We all know, if there is a will - there is a way to get your anime! But the question is, where do you get yours? Do you buy from overseas? Go to best buy? Specialty stores (which ones?) Or do you do what I do and go on Veoh or crunchy roll?
We can list means of getting anime fixes so that the less fortunate may be informed! :D
I get anime and manga mostly from sales at http://www.rightsuf.com/ (but I always check for other prices at http://www.dvdpricesearch.com/ first, so I sometimes end up at other vendors when the RightStuf sale isn't good enough).
For the non-licensed stuff, I depend on going to various local anime clubs.
As for buying, normally the usual places that sell anime such as fry's, best buy, Nikaku (I prefer to buy from them when I can 'cause they are a small store. <3 sponsoring small businesses.), yadda yadda yadda....
As for otherwise... those methods I'm not totally free to disclose.... ~cough~torrents~cough~
Borrowing stuffs from friends and watching things at anime clubs are cool also.
My bro introduced veoh to me a few weeks ago... >.> Much better than youtube for video hosting... >.>;
But if you have the money, you should really buy your anime.. -.-;
I usually buy animes online like Rightstuf or go into stores like Best Buy or some anime shops around the local area.
^^;; For me, who enjoys new animes coming in Japan, I would watch it on Crunchyroll. I download raws episodes too from TokyoTosho site. It helps me because what I like is what I buy.
Find new series:
if (on youtube == 'true') {
watch(youtube);
} else if (on crunchyroll == 'true') {
watch(cruncnyroll);
} else {
miss out(zoupzuop2);
OR
I just buy it if I already know it works.
For buying, I usually use rightstuf or pacificdvd because they have the best deals. Unless Best Buy has a great sale, I pretty much only buy anime online.
As for non-buying, I use Netflix, crunchyroll, and my local anime club.
I usually buy them online now. I do love Netflix for building my collection. <_<
Somewhat off-topic, but I was listening to a talk from one of the BitTorrent execs, and I thought it was funny how he identified the Anime community as a specific subset of their users. This was right alongside groups like linux distros and government network infrastructures. He was shy about discussing piracy, but seemed really excited-and oblivious of the irony-about the anime community. :D
my WSW, winny share winmx

I either buy it or Crunchyroll it. But I mostly Crunchyroll it! ^^

*boggle* When did Bram become a whole company!? http://www.bittorrent.com/about/management
I buy either at Best buy for in store purchases.And I use deepdiscount.com because all their anime dvds are 40% off retail,no sales tax and free shipping.
Internet and Television.
INTERNET. SERIOUS BUSINESS
(:
I buy all my anime.
That or I rent it from Netflix.
I've only watched one series on a place like Youtube, and that would be Tsubasa: Tokyo REVELATIONS.
I don't like stealing.
I buy my Manga from Barnes & Nobles and other bookstores, I buy my anime DVDs at Streetlight Records (Yea), everything else from comic book stores. I also rent most DVDs from Netflix.
I see in t.v. and I get it at AnimeCastle.com. :)
Rasputin Music has a lot of 2nd and 3rd hand anime dvds, so i head down there once in a while, or i head over to myspacetv.com and watch bleach.
An Amazon is fine too, especially for Haruhi stuff~
Somebody recommended this online store to me: http://www.bargainanime.com/
Has anybody done business with them? Do they package things well when shipping, and is everything they carry legit? (They claim their stuff is all officially licensed, but it's good to get verification.)
I don't buy anime anymore. T_T I have to many bills.
VEOH!! Its not illegal if you dont download! jk, but seriously :P
the people that aren't replying to this thread probably have their bittorent clients open, and aren't going to reply in this thread.

^^ That's not true. I'm replying and have my Azuerus open all the time. Other than that, what I like, I will buy because I want to support them.
I buy my anime at best buy. the ones that are out in Japan I downloaded them using bittorrent sites, manga I get them at book stores.

yeah me too... i cant do much with minimum wage... *sigh*
i watch it from Youtube... or i read it on mangavolume.com or onemanga.com
Of course, dl-ing/torrents. I usually download the first episode and if I get into it I download the rest or wait till new episodes get released. I'm not into much recent anime lately so I don't download anything until i get a 'trial' run or preview, and i don't fill up my hard drive(s).
I also watch some shows on Comcast On-Demand (Anime Network, Anime Selects, MOJO HD (?), Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, and 4Kids) cuz they rotate their shows weekly and its free with cable subscription. I used to watch whatever KTEH channel 54 showed on Sunday Science Fiction night.
However, I tend to stick to classic anime (early 2000's anime is classic?) and the San Jose public library has a good assortment of 'classic' anime and manga for rent. The choices doesnt get updated enough though.
Used to be at The Warehouse near where I live, but now, mainly at cons.
amazon and rightstuf
fansubs
Where I got everything: Torrents. And if you thought you couldn't torrent food... you're wrong... DEAD WRONG.
>:( Torrents SUCK! I no know how to use them! :-[

Same for me! Though I really wouldn't mind buying Shurgo Chara once it comes out to America.

Srsly? It's pretty easy. Have you checked out Bittorrents' site (http://www.bittorrent.com/)?
._. Nu... Ihafnawt. But'll check it out. Sankyuu!
I use Veoh.
I sometimes buy from the internet, but I'll also check my best buy for it.
I buy any anime that I really really like, so I always view it online first, then I purchase wherever they sell anime ^^. Or I will buy things online. As for stores, there's Suncoast, Best Buy, Japantown, etc
well, unfortunately the nature of alot of anime is formulaic and repeated over and over and over agian ad nauseum...
but the reason I love anime is some of the more artful and innovative ways of telling a narrative.
so if there is something like cowboy beebop or champloo, etc. something that stands out, differentiates and maybe takes some risk in doing so, i will reward its producers by buying it, by showing patronage.
i dont buy manga. at all. maybe as a gift for someone else, but never for myself. just not a big fan.
I download everything from Mininova or Demonoid.
I buy if I really like but that is rare because anime on the whole is way too expensive.
I download the new series that sound interesting to me as they're fansubbed, and then buy them whenever they get them out here (which of course is usually at least two years after they come out in Japan... at least...). For older series from before I found fansubbing stuff, I'll either buy it if it sounds good, or I'll watch it at my boyfriend's house since he probably has well over 150 different Anime series, and he's always buying more.
For manga though, I'll either read them at the bookstore, since I work at one, or I'll buy them. Usually if I've read about 20 pages or so into the first volume and I like it, I'll get it and start collecting the series. I absolutely refuse to buy one-shots, though, yet it's so unfortunate that they're translating so many of those instead of the really awesome series. But I do get my manga at quite a huge discount, so it's safe to say I have more of them than any of my friends (or maybe all of them combined).
Chewie - Anime seriously isn't expensive anymore. I remember it used to be a lot higher priced when I was younger, and the prices keep going down... hell, you can even find single season boxsets for 20 bucks here and there! So you just have to keep your eyes peeled for things when they come out here.
I'm suppose to buy Anime?
*Goes to bootleg more stuff*

I'm really hoping that's sarcasm. Dx
I remember a time ago ordering a fairly cheap copy of gunslinger girl from amazon.
Not thinking twice about BOOTLEG.
Well... when I received the long awaited gunslinger girl I opened the package not only to find
BOOTLEG CRAP!!!!
I unwrapped it and it farted and fell to the floor.
I screamed in agony as I realized that the plastic wrap didn't have that fresh feel but that cheap ass hong kong copy feel.
1 disc... ONE DISC! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO EXTRAS~~~~!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! >:(
The point of the story.
If it's cheap its bootleg and bootleg smells like poop.
Torrents, baby.
But I still buy anime. I love TTGL so much, that I actually *gasp* purchased it.
What is the world coming to?
I don't go overseas to but anime. it twice as expensive in Japan then in America. I usually DL my anime by using torrents. I also sometimes use Veoh, Youtube, and Anime-media to watch other animes I don't feel like downloading. :3
