Title: Yaoi/Yuri Paddles?
Post by: sonyatheunicorn on October 29, 2007, 01:47:54 AM
Do you have to go yaoi night to get a yaoi/yuri paddle?
I'd really like to buy one but i dont know where :[ I looked everywhere in the dealers room
and i was to damn shy to ask someone where they got theirs
also the price for one if i am able to get one

if I remember correctly, I believe there should be plenty of vendors in the dealer's room that sell's yaoi/yuri related materials.

That plus Yaoi Con booth of course.

so sooner or later I'm sure you'll find out where the infamous yaoi paddle could be sold at.

I think the panels just 'demonstrate' how the possibilities of how the paddles are used...  :o

I didn't see any this year, but I wasn't looking very hard. Yaoi/Yuri paddles are evil. There's nothing worse than having a bunch of 13 year old fangirls chasing cosplayers with yaoi paddles. I think you can buy those things online, but I don't remember where. Sorry I'm not much help.

I've never understood the point/reason/purpose/logic that these exist, let alone why anyone would be willing to shell out 20+$ for it. It's basically a statement that people will buy anything as long as it references something(incorrectly at that) that they recognize as LOLJAPAN.

So enlighten me... why the hell would you buy one of these?

Because gay is the new black?
I would buy a yuri paddle, but not for twenty bucks.

The paddle resembles Fetishism. Incorrectly at that as well, but whatever. I could make something niftier, tbh. Something that won't look as ridiculous. Maybe that could be a project for this years fanime. Custom leather yuri/yaoi paddles. :D A paddle worthy of it's name, and the term 'paddle'. XD

IIRC, they're not allowed at Yaoi-con.  At least, they weren't for this year.  Lots of whips/crops/flogging things, but no paddles.

So you'd get into a long speech about how Yaoi is an acronym describing how most doujinshi done for females have little point, as absolutely nothing happens in 99% of them?

As a description it's about stories revolving around homosexual males which includes sex. How the term is very often confused with "boys love/shounen ai" as a descriptor where, people believe anything that has any homosexual tendencies between two males is often called "yaoi" because people seem to not know any better? Also that it's a description for comics/games/visual media, over actual actions, and minus the sex, it's not really "yaoi"?

Or were you just going to say "Yaoi is homosexual actions between two males" like virtually everyone in the world thinks it is.

PS: Yaoi is not a verb, it's an adjective if you're going to use it correctly.

Then I could go on about how no one who uses "yuri" hasn't a damned clue what that means either. No, "yuri" is not the lesbianic form of yaoi, and is a representation word. But that would take another paragraph or two to explain.

Yay. Someone with common sense.

I personally don't understand the yaoi paddles either. Actually, I don't understand "I love yaoi" t-shirts, bags, and whatever other merchandise they're able to sell to underaged fangirls who shouldn't be buying porn in the first place. I just don't understand why people are proud that they like cartoon gay pornand they have to shout it at the world.

But then again, I don't understand why people like yaoi.

Yaoi is a term meaning acts between two males... I went there!

や・お・い = まなし ちなし みなし

No plot, no climax, no meaning.

やおい =/= BOY'S LOVE

Tehe~ And it was less than a paragraph. :V

But uhm... "Girl's love" isn't really a category.

Yuri isn't even really comparable to yaoi realistically.

Yuri is comparable to Rose.

Correct me if I'm wrong, since I'm really not sure.

"Shoujo-ai" and "Shounen-ai" are American-coined terms...?

I ment shoujoai is the literal translation of girl's love.

Shounen-Ai is a used term, interchangably with Boys Love. Shoujo Ai isn't used at all.

Obviously "Shoujo-ai" is literally girl love, but that has jack nothing to do with this conversation at all.

I was correcting his assumption that Yuri = Girl's love. Shoujoai = Girls love would've made more sense.

So let me get this straight. You replied to a 2 year old thread, with something COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC, with something probably inaccurate(google image search is not an accurate definition of what yaoi is).
