I stayed with people I had never met before.

Basically I was in line for the rave on Friday, and was like "Hey, can I room with you?"

And there you have it.

So the first night I stayed in Motel 6, which was -hilarious- because the bathroom was like, teeny. There were two beds, but fortunately that night it was only two of us. I was so wiped, so I didn't really take any other notice. The next night I stayed with people in... I THINK the Marriot. Getting out was HELL. Nobody would let us in, even when there was ROOM. We couldn't take the stairs because we had plastic bags that would break, and people with bad backs, and stuff... So eventually I just shoved in with ANGER AND RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION. People got pissed at me. >.>;

I eventually went back up because they still hadn't succeeded in coming down the elevator. When we got down, we celebrated. Over all, the hotels were hilariously fun. It's always great to just meet people in the elevators and while waiting for elevators.

I'll probably be doing the same thing this year.

Dealers Room / Does anybody sell BJDs at Fanime?
November 30, 2008, 12:24:55 PM
At least that you know of?

I mean, I probably wouldn't buy one at Fanime, if only because they might not have the two dolls I'm after. I'm new to the BJD world, but was just wondering if maybe I should keep my eye out for the dolls I want, or for the possibility of falling in love with a completely different one.

Big Event Showcase / Re: B&W Ball complaint
June 07, 2008, 01:13:22 AM
Hmmn, yeah, this year there were some seriously rude staff members.

I mean, if a little rule was broken, people would get -yelled at-. Things like bare feet in the rave, for example. I can understand why it's a rule, I can't understand why staff would be so insanely rude. I seriously watched like, eight people get reprimanded really rudely. Generally with the staff (there were more than one) gripping on their arm or shoulder. I know my arm was sore after the rave because staff decided to get in my face, too. I didn't want to get kicked out, so I obliged -- I wasn't actually aware of the rule until they pointed it out.

Next year, can you please talk to your staff about personal space? That touching, gripping, pulling, tugging is NOT a way to get the attention of someone? Some people have serious qualms about being gripped like that. What if the person had some sort of trauma related to a grip like that? Or if they accidentally rip someone's gorgeous dress? A costume or dress that had cost money, and time, be it work hours to buy it, or craft hours to make it.

The staff for the past three years have been great, but this year, all of a sudden, they went way beyond boundaries. Any little rule they could nitpick at, they would. Which is acceptable, but it's the way that they did it. I heard nonstop complaints about the staff all weekend long from my friends. Yes, rules are important. No, you do not have to be rude to enforce them.

--Also

I wanted to thank the staff who have replied here already for being sincere and truly being concerned. That's a good sign to everyone that because of staff like you, the overall workforce next year will improve!

Big whoop.  You could've walked up to me at the con and found out the same information from my badge, the same as any of us.  *shrug*

Really was a joke. >.>; Dumb joke, now that I read it, but I was probably overcaffeinated, like I always am!

I felt like such a loser. At the very end of con, I found out you could reg at the con, but I had no idea where, and it was closed already anyways from what they told me. xD

I've been going for four years, and I didn't know you could reg for the next year until MONDAY of the con! X_X

Hi guys.

Me and a friend are thinking about setting up a table in the Artist Alley. All I know is it costs something like 20 dollars, right? But where/when do I pay for that? Is it related to the registration itself? Do I need to contact someone?

I was just wondering, since I was hoping to maybe set up a table next year. Is it possible? Or am I too late -- did I need to sign up at the convention itself for that?

Thanks,
_Ricci

Oh my goodness!  I think that is her!

You, sir, = +1 Internet.

I searched all over the net looking for a picture to refer to but could find nothing.  Cosplay.com decided to censor chunks of my request for help.  And so far all my leads have gone cold, but YOU SIR, have won the game thus far, delivering what not even I, Anonymous, could deliver (pix).

Now I just hope she'll talk to me...

...fuck you I lost the game.

No free hug signs...  :'(

I concur.

Well, that and also the fact that we aren't allowed to rave barefoot. I think that if you want to dance barefoot, you do it at your own risk. They shouldn't force you to put on shoes, especially when shoes actually cause some people more pain! My shoes SUCK, basically. They're pretty, they're flats, but they are poorly designed, and no matter what I do, they give me blisters, even though they fit perfectly.

I was actually going to say that too. I had to dance in huge boots. I couldn't really move my feet. Ugh so lame.

Clearly we are brain-twins.

Lol. Yes, we are.

x3 My feet DID get really heavy to the point I couldn't move them, eventually. Just thought I'd add that. XD

lol that's lame. Yeah me and my friends were dancing even after the rave was over. We had a hobo rave every night.

xD Yeah, I don't really have a lot of stamina. I lasted a little over 24 hours with constant action basically, but that doesn't mean I was -really- conscious. xD At some point my eyes just kinda unfocused and I just... wiggled. o_o I'm overweight, and generally dehydrated (stoopid forgetfulness..), so I'm amazed that I was able to dance in the first place. xD I mean, lemme put it this way: I am so forgetful, that people have to tell me to drink some water, even if I'm about to pass out from dehydration. o_o

...I feel a little like Mutsumi Otohime now...

Haha. i had to drink A LOT of water. I almost died too lol. They need a pool in there. haha.

I would like to see the cookie and hugs at the elevators. @_@ If mekalai  does it, I would be happy. XD

xD See, the biggest thing is that I can never remember that I need to start baking cookings a few days ahead of time! ...Then I need to hide it from the folks. If I can remember that next year, then at Check Out, be at the Marriot. x3 Or well... I dunno. o_O I'll make an announcement if I am, depending on which hotel I end up sleeping in. xD Though, considering it was a fluke that I ended up in the Marriot and not under tables at the con...

I did make home-made potato chips this year. But no one wanted them. =( Apparently home-made potato chips (which by the way, were probably the best potato chips I've ever eaten... so much better tasting) aren't as appealing. OF COURSE IT DOESN'T HELP THAT MY DAD PUT A BATCH OF CHIPS INTO ONE OF THE BAGS BEFORE THEY HAD TIME TO SET. X_X
See, if you put them in with the others too fast, the oils that haven't dried yet... ruin the whole batch. Y'gotta let them sit on a cold plate for a while. :: nodnod ::

I don't think you'd be allowed to do the cookie thing. There is a rule about that. x_x
But I would love the hug after getting whacked in the dome by a careless ass shoving his way into the elevator. @_@

Hmmn, no, offering food is fine. I think. I do it every year with various things anyways. But anyways, not all the rules really need to be enforced. A lot of them are there just to point out some common sense things. "Don't eat other people's food" boils down to "Don't take candy from strangers, it'll have the date rape drug in it, and you shall get date raped."

And yeah, I wouldn't mind the hugs either. O_o When my friends and I got out of the elevator, we did hug. xD

I was a little disappointed that other than the artwork, this year's design was really close to last year's; I liked last year's better, frankly. The past few years have been pretty similar in a lot of ways, actually, now that I look at them. Next year it would be cool to see something different, like a big change, or at least a different background color from dark blue.

I sort of disliked the whole lanyard business instead of the neato clips like there were before, but I know it was probably in an effort to get people to keep their badges visible and harder to lose and all. (Even though I took mine out of the sleeve and safety-pinned it to my purse anyway...)

I will have to agree to disagree with you here, as I loved the lanyards and plan to put mine through plenty of mileage. It's sturdy, it's convenient, and it does the job excellently well. Want another one next year- I'm thinking about starting a collection.

I really liked the lanyards as well.

Again, I'll have to agree to disagree. For example, I think that the dark blue background is a nice staple for each year. The backgrounds are always -different-, but they still have just the right level of consistency. If you go to many cons, it makes it easier to go "These are my Fanime badges, these are my Otakon badges." I don't go to any cons other than Fanime, but I have friends who do, and they like that too.

I really want to go to more cons starting next year, anyways, so y'know.

QuoteAnyways. I feel no sympathy for your capitalk.

I don't really care, I was ranting. Just like you, I roomed with strangers too. And for the record, all I said was don't make a big deal out of the elevators, it can't be helped. And don't take my response so offensively. I wasn't telling you to do anything. It was a general opinion.

Most of my rant wasn't even directed at you. Shoulda specified that. >.O A lot of it was just general BLAH, worded into "GKAHDGKAHGD ELEVATORS!"

So yeah, I didn't mean to make it seem like I took serious offense. It just... perfect syntax for me to go BOOM.

Too bad I forgot about my idea from LAST year until just now. o_o I was gonna bake a bunch of cookies, go around con offering "Cookie and a hug?" If they wanted one but not the other, I was gonna run away screaming "Syntax Error!"

Ugh, I was SO jealous seeing you up there getting a hug from Mr. Delicious. Sadly, I don't know his contact info or where you might try.

I on the other hand, developed a bit of a crush on the cute blonde boy that was pulled from the audience to help out with the bingo the previous night. He was standing alone after the event was nearly over, but I was too chicken shit to say hello. *sigh* I'm a sucker for the blonde pretty boys.

LOL I played truth or dare with him in line for Double-Up. xD Except, I don't think he was ever dared. =( I dragged him in after being dared to "strut down the hall."

<.<

YEAH, BE JEALOUS -- I ROOMED WITH A BISHOUNEN.
Gasp! Not my bishy! D;

Hehe! I totalllyyyy regret not going to bingo night. I saw a couple clips on youtube, and I was totally surprised at the action compared to double up. xD; Damn friend's prom! I promised I'd go with her to save her from the humiliation of going alone. D< Ugh! Next year, I need to get to the point. And not...Run away. >>;

Yeeeess, cooome... joiiin our stripshowww....

AAAAND no it wasn't your bishi. It was a better one. xDDD
Lol~ Next year for sure. :3

Phew! But no... Prince Jerry here is perfect for me! x3 <3

lol, I roomed with Oni, the one with the dreadlocks and daaark skin. <3 Black Men Are Love.
I hope he doesn't read this. o_O XDD No it wouldn't matter. He's HOT and he KNOWS it, and he knows _I_ know it. xD

I did talk to Jerry for a few minutes, methinks. But I spent more time with Chaos. He was blonde and in the black/gold cosplaywhatever? He apparently thinks he's brunette. I laff. I won some prizes at the Yaoi Double-Up. Most notably a really nice Final Fantasy mug. I don't actually even play final fantasy, but it has his favourite character, Zach on it. I thought of him when I... TOOK IT'S MUG-VIRGINITY and used it with crystal light. What can I say? I'm a gentle lovah. xD

Well, I was on the 19th floor this year. I am a stubborn person when it comes to health, and this year I had been off of work and on disability for a year. Becuase of that stubborness.
I have combination of things wrong with my back and hips that cuases it to pop/slide out of place often. It's painful.

The thing that really pissed me off is when some jerk tried to shove himself into me and a few other fellow con goers on monday. He swore at us and called us nasty names. This was AFTER another con goer did the same thing and knocked me in the head with a big bag. Neither of them fit into the elevator.

STOP MAKING IT A BIG FUCKING ORDEAL OVER A DAMNED ELEVATOR! If you don't like it, don't go to the convention. Or room somewhere else and WALK your ass to the con.

I'm not sure I understand the first paragraph at all.

Anyways. I feel no sympathy for your capitalk. Straight up, I stayed with strangers both nights I was there. I had no control over where I slept. If I could have, I would have -stayed- at the Motel 6 instead of switching to the Marriot.

The point of this thread is not to make a big ordeal about the elevator, it's the fact that people were consistently rude. I'm sure this was received from both ends. but I'm telling you, even when I myself wasn't taking the elevator, people would piss me off. The door would open, and people would IMMEDIATELY scream at you. "TAKE THE FUCKING STAIRS."

You have a health condition. So did my friend. I don't have a lasting condition, but by that point in the con, I -could not take the stairs.- I TRIED. I went up and down them several times, my feet literally couldn't handle it. My knees literally couldn't handle it. My hips literally couldn't handle it. My muscles... you get the fuckin' point. I have a hard time going -down- anything. I've had to walk to the train station the last two days of school. My knees hurt like a bitch, as well as my back. Mad at me for my messenger bag.

I still enjoyed the con. It was the fact that people can be very inconsiderate. I saw someone else mention "Well we were on the fourth flour, we carried our bags."

THE. BAGS. WOULD. HAVE. BROKE.

I would rather people didn't pack so much shit for a weekend, personally. I carried my stuff with me the whole con, it was so little. I mean, my shoulders hate me for it (since I had both backpack straps and a messenger bag strap), so does my back, but it was small enough that I -could- get away with it. If everyone did that, I expect things would've worked out much better.

Uh. End rant.
