Gaming / Visual Novel Questions and Discussions
July 03, 2006, 06:09:35 PM
Since the only Visual Novel I play (besites Planetarian, but I didn't get any choices) is Ever 17, I can't offer much advice outside of it and so... my questions will pertain to that. My apologies. Feel free to use this thread for any questions or discussions though of any visual novel. I'm bound to have some later.

After hearing about Ever 17 and its apparent relationship with my story, I went ahead and bought it. At first, it took me awhile to get into it. I wasn't really imperssed, but  I wasn't bashing it. That's always a good sign. As I progressed further into the story, I found myself engrossed in a unique experience...
However, for the sake of new players, please avoid any spoilers. If a spoiler is required, please put the text as white and put it as a "quote".

Now... for some questions...
How do you choose your main character? For some reason, I ended up choosing Kid without my knowledge. Luckily, I wanted Kid anyway.

How do you know what route you're on? Frankly, I'm getting a lot of You, but I was aiming for Tsugami. I guess it was because I found out the password and stuff and I usually paired up with her than Sara and Sora.

How do you avoid bad endings (in general? I mean, for any similar game, how do you avoid the bad endings?)

EDIT! It's official! I'm on You's route. I'm sure of it! I helped her with the machine, we talked about the third eye, I found out about the password and the paper and I followed her to the dolphin area and spoke my feelings. There's no way in hell I'm ditching You for Tsugami now. That would apathetic. Plus, You's not a bad person. I have no qualms about this.

General Anime Chat / I'm Stuck On Higurashi Atm
June 30, 2006, 01:12:29 AM
I've been aspiring to be a better writer for some time now. After my current story is finished, I intend to write a horror/mystery. Frankly, however, I have no experience in writing horror and the question that came up to my head was, "How do you make someone scared through writing?" Well, you don't have to answer that since I'm pretty sure I know what to do now. Anyhow, Higurashi link to my ambitions. I think it's a well crafted story based on a doujin (sneaketh) visual novel (it sold 100,000 copies in Japan. A feat only accomplished before by Type-moon's Tsukihime).
COUGH COUGH

Anyhow, what do you think about the series? For newcomers... give it at least 4 episodes. It might be a tad bit odd, but if you look into the mix that the creators threw in, I think you might be impressed. Here's a picture. Click it. I dare you.

Enjoy.

Oh, and Spirit. Remember when I said I go on the animesuki forums to read about an anime and understand it better?
http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=32447&page=5

Episode 8 had me going and so I had to read up on some speculations and such. Overall, it helped me get some ideas for my new story as well as entertain me.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
My 666th post goes to FATE/STAY NIGHT being over! Curse you directors! I love you, but I hate you! I loved the anime so much. Too bad I can't play the game (which is another reason why I actually liked Shingetsutan Tsukihime..but I digress). Anyhow, what were your views on this serious? This is entice you to read about EVERY single mythological character (like me minus the Irish hero and Medusa...and Assasin). C'mon! Give a shout out to the series...that broke my heart /sob.

I'm sure a majority of you have played or are playing a card game. So, I was wondering, is it possible to sell your cards in the table top room? Also, is anyone interested in Dot Hack, Magic the Gathering or Yugioh cards? Prices vary and you can barter all you want.

Well, um, any ideas or comments?

General Anime Chat / Get Yer Ass in Air Gear!
April 09, 2006, 03:09:21 PM
Yup! That's another way to say, "Air Gear is here!". I'm proud to say that the popular series Air Gear has made its debut in anime! I hope you'll agree with me when I say, "I sure as hell want those blades". Anyway, for those that don't know what Air Gear is, you can check it out at the following sites:
Anyway, if you like the anime and how it is going, be sure to post in here!
THAT MEANS YOU TSUBASA!

The anime: http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/795.html
The manga: http://www.mangadownload.net/manga.php?a=series&sid=4
The figures?: (I'd like to know if you seriously find this 'cause I'm looking for Simca of the Swallows).

Yes, this a thread solely dedicated to Mai Otome (though I'm sure it will tangent and eventually lose its meaning). Anyway, onto the point. Is anyone a little under the weather because Mai Otome ended? I'm sure some liked the series as much as I did, so why not voice your opinions of the series, your likes, dislikes and well, anything that falls in between.

Also, I'll come back with a full-fledged review. Just you wait, but until then, Natsuki, Nao and Shizuru say:

I think that means something around the lines of we're drunk.

Forum Games / The What If Game!
April 01, 2006, 11:51:01 PM
Okay, the what if game is similar to the Wish Corrupter game, but with a few defining differences. Allow me to demonstrate:

Example Post

What if Tsukai Mori denied his affinity for Tsubasa?

The next poster would answer:

"He would have lost a catalyst for his fanboyism" - Sunara

Then the poster would start up with a question about him/herself.

What if Sunara could actually cast magic fire balls?

"She would undoubtedly rule the world" - Tsubasa.

This trend will continue. Remember keep it clean and the point of this game is to learn about each other... in a nice way. Anyhow, I'll start.

-Edit
What if Tsukai Mori's idea for a freaking game reaped better results?!

I tend to do this and it has become a trend of immeasurable worth. In other words, priceless. Recently, I bought Shingetsutan Tsukihime, an anime I've watched at the mere age of, cough, 11. Since it has been 4 years (I'm turning 16 so don't jump too much), I decided to revisit the story and to my surprise, I remember absolutely nothing. In fact, I don't even remember if I finished the anime. Essentially, this means that the anime is completely new to me now. Anyone else do this? How about listing some anime?

- On a side note, I still feel the gothic fear and sensation produced by this masterpiece (in my opinion). I wonder if I could handle Elfen Lied?

-Edit
Wait a minute, what is the rating on Elfen Lied? Now that I think about it, is Tsukihime even appropriate for an 11 year old?

Well, as the title says, was there ever a time where a series was licensed and the effect was drastic? For example, what if the highly acclaimed Honey & Clover was licensed right before the LAST EPISODE? How would you feel then? In my case, I'm bothered that Shakugan no Shana got licensed a bit early...oh well... Imma go buy that anime series regardless.
Here's a list of anime's that got licensed too soon imo:

Tsubasa Chronicles (what? I like the series...)
Shakugan no Shana (god I loved this series... ten episodes in a day. TEN!)
Naruto (no offence but Cartoon Network is doing a helluva BAD job)
Chrno Crusade (I think this got licensed early. I forgot).

That's it for now. There are some exceptions though. I feel that it's all cool when a good company licenses the anime aka Gainax or something. I'm not sure about Geneon but it's all good...sometimes...

General Anime Chat / What Anime Series Do You Follow Now?
November 20, 2005, 12:10:51 PM
Well, I'm sure thats a straight forward question. What anime series do you follow now? For me, I stay tuned for:

Suzuka (I just want to see how this ends, predictably, or with a true to heart change. I absolutely love this series. All I can say is you either hate the characters or side with one of them. I hope you watch this heartbreaking romance/sports series).

Mai Otome (Okay, I admit, I'm a Mai Hime fan).

Bleach (Honestly, who doesn't watch Bleach?)

Naruto (Sorry, I don't follow this).

Black Cat (I think the beginning was seriously over emphasized, but otherwise it picks up and brings forth loveable characters).

Canvas 2 (I watch this just because I'm bored.)

Pani Poni Dash (This serious is an awkward combination of Excel Saga and Azumanga Daioh. First, we have the 11 year old MIT graduate that teaches, which fondly reminds me of a little highschool genius, Chiyo, in Azumanga. Second we have slapstick comedy that is plain bizarre yet at times funny, which is keyed into Excel Saga. Together...we have Pani Poni Dash).

I'd really like to know if the Dealers room DOES sell Piano music. Also if there is guitar and saxophone books as well, that would be great! The following books are what I'm looking for as of now are:

Suzuka Piano Sheet Music
Air Piano Sheet Music
Final Fantasy (any series) Piano or Sax
Haibane Renmei Piano
Lain Serial Experiments Guitar!

Hello again fellow otakus! Or if you are too sensitive about being called an otaku...uh...Well, sucks for you! Anyway, has there ever been a manga you just absolutely wanted translated into English (or for any other language I guess...). For me, that would be Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei!
Since I spend plenty of time at Borders, I can always read up on newly released mangas, however, there are just some that I rather keep on a distant country, far, far away. No, not Japan... But! Then there are those that I wish were a little closer to a book store near you! ...Please! If you share the same feelings, post! Post the manga you want to be translated into English!

And to end this post with a sorta inside joke.
"I'm SO IN DESPAIR of how FAR away JAPAN IS!"

Such a silly question I suppose. If you're wondering how this question of "an anime series you'd participate in" its mostly due to how I thought it would be nice if I was in this series to do so and so. I was a naive child! Leave me dream! Actually, I still do wonder >.>. Moving along, I'd want to be in the series Suzuka. Not a day goes by (exaggeration) that I wonder if Honoka is truly meant to be with Yamato. And in all honesty, I hope it keeps together because I can relate to Honoka on a fine line, or so I think. Sadly, all my instincts tell me it won't last... Silly producers who named the show SUZUKA not HONOKA. Anywaaaay, how about you? What anime series would you want to be in?
Let me bash Yamato cause I don't like him.

As the title says, has anyone every thought that some anime series (or just any t.v. series) needed a sequel or a prequel? I think it would have been nice if Noir had a prequel. That way, not only would it appeal to the fans of the series, it would help explain how Kirika got there in the first place and how the Noir are chosen. Also, Air the t.v. series would be great if it had a sequel, but seeing how unlikely that is, it is only simple wishing.

Anyway, any ideas?
