@ jerry THANK  YOU!!! Thanks for posting this. I need to get my mom to see this. She always stares at me funny when I write names in my *Death Note*, or even put a new poster on my wall.
Personally, I'd give you strange looks or stares is I saw you had made your own Death Note and were names down in it. Thats taking the fandom a bit far for me.
I don't do the whole "dramatic" thing with my notebook. My mom just stares at it because it says "Death" on it.
What do you mean by "the whole dramatic thing"? If you're using it as a regular school note book that's one thing, but to actually write names down in it is completely different. If your mom knew what the Death Note was, I'm sure she'd give you more then just a few strange looks.

Just because you don't go into seizures of ecstasy when you write names and scenarios in it doesn't mean others won't find it dramatic.

Registration / Re: When do I pick up my badge?
April 17, 2009, 03:48:57 PM
If you registered and paid before March 31st, then you should count at 'Pre-Registered'. If you registered any time after that up until the convention then you are qualified as 'Early Registration'.

Pre-Registration can pick up their badge on Thursday before con as an added bonus. If you are an Early Registration then you can pick up your badge starting Friday morning. The exact times haven't been listed, but I remember it being around 8:00am last year.

I believe the reason you cant pick up Early Registration on Thursday is because the badges haven't been printed yet. Pre-Registration gets you a laminated badge, unlike the Early Registration which gets paper badges in a plastic sleeve.

As illustrated by the posts above me, my favorite thing about Fanime is the inside jokes. Something special you can share with the ones you were with when it happened, and no one else will ever understand.

Also, knowing that for maybe once in your life, you are not the biggest nerd/dork for 5 square miles.

Generally, Fanime is a 24 hour convention. Certain events take place on Thursday for pre-registered attendees like the swap meet or gaming room. Other then that, viewing rooms open really early on Friday (think early am's).

If you're coming on Friday you wont be able to do too much until you pick up your badge. In the past I remember registrations opening around 8:00am. After that the Dealers Hall and Artist Alley open somewhere between 10:00am and 3:00pm. Starting on Friday viewing rooms and the gaming room are open 24 hours until late afternoon on Monday.

Since the official schedule hasn't been released, all my times are based off what I can remember from previous years. The schedule is usually posted a few weeks before con, like Ewu said, and its best to check times against that.

Im sure the hotel would require that your parents be there, since the room is in their name. Not to imply that you are reckless or untrustworthy, but for safety or security reasons it would be best if at least one of your parents was there the whole time.

If you are all under 18, how did you book the hotel room? You'll need the legal age person who booked the hotel room to check in.

Registration / Re: Confused Over Payments
April 05, 2009, 12:43:58 PM
The price isn't going to get any cheaper by buying your registration at the door. If you pay online, with the early registration you get the full weekend badge, which will be cheaper then registering for just Saturday and Sunday. Whether you pay online or pay at the door, you'll have to stand in line on Saturday to pick up your badge. Another perk for buying a weekend registration is that you wont have to deal with the line again on Sunday, since you'll already have your badge.

Since you're a group of 5, I dont see how only buying 3 registrations will help you, as everyone will need their own badge to get in.

Registration / Re: Saturday and Sunday Registration

When early registration is announced, I would sign up for that. Even if you cant go on Friday or Monday, it will still be cheaper then buying Saturday and Sunday separately. If I remember correctly, you could register for the weekend at con or online.

so does this mean that the room is only reserved and not paid for yet if i have already reserved the room through the fanime site??? and that when i get to the hotel i will have to pay for the room and the deposit with a card???
That is correct. All you have done so far is reserved the room, it hasn't been paid for yet. Your credit card info was needed to prove that you could pay for it and so the hotel could charge you if you never showed up to claim your booked room. When you get to the hotel to check in is when you will actually pay for the room. From what I understand, you dont have to use the same card you reserved the room with to pay for it. You can pay with cash or another card if you wish.

Registration / Re: Cost for a single day pass?
March 19, 2009, 03:36:06 PM
In the past, different days would cost different amounts. Saturday is usually the most expensive day and Monday the least expensive.

I personally have never stayed there, but a friend of mine who has told me it was a really classy place, but still very polite to everyone.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: hotels

Thats going to be $105 each night, plus taxes and security deposit.

The security deposit is usually $50 a night and you get that money back when you check out.

Really its just the Fairmont left. All the other hotels only have a few free days - Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday. Nothing for Friday through Sunday.

The Fairmont is really nice though, so Im sure you'll enjoy your stay if you book there.

Definitely book a hotel as soon as possible. You dont have to be registered to book a hotel through the housing website either, which is a plus. And if plans change, you can always change your reservation up to a week before Fanime.
You don't need to be a FanimeCon member ("pre-registered") in order to book a hotel room through our website, but this might affect your rates when you check out. I know that the hotel staff checks each person that books a room with a list of names that we give them to ensure that only FanimeCon members, staff, etc. are getting the special convention rate.
I should have been more specific. I meant that you could book the hotel before you pre-registered, so if you're not sure if you can actually attend until later in the year, you can still book the hotel and have that off your mind.

I would really like to see either Utada Hikaru or BoA. Both are releasing US albums in March, so it would be great advertising for them.

Registration / Re: Badge/sword question.
January 27, 2009, 07:30:23 PM
There are plenty of cons in other states that let you carry live steel as long as its peace bonded, but since California seems to be full of show-off idiots its best to not allow them at all.

Registration / Re: start and end times
January 25, 2009, 12:35:37 AM
There are also a few things happening on Thursday in the afternoon. Early badge pick-up, swap meet, and once there was even a small concert for those who had pre-registered. If you can arrive Thursday morning it will give you plenty of time to unpack and get settled in before the con. As for Monday, there usually isn't much going on, I've always run out of things to do or spend money on before closing ceremonies even began.

I also have a question, but anyone is free to answer this.
Will the rooms (new or not) be equipped with a clothes iron and an ironing board?
If only some rooms have them, which types of rooms?
I believe all rooms come with an iron and an ironing board. In all other hotels I've stayed at these items are kept in the closet.
