Friday nights dance wasn't very good... Saturday though, was very good.

My friend getting escorted out (later let back in) from the con because he had a 'glomp me' sign on.

I kid you not.

Oh man. I was so down this week, still am, and I didn't even realize why until my friend said "man, I'm having major post con depression" and I was like  ::) Duh, that's whats wrong with me  :P But yeah it really sucks. A year is a long time...

I didn't enjoy the music on Friday. Not all of it was bad, but it could have been a lot better, everyone I as with agreed. Lots of awkward pauses in the songs where you kinda have to stop dancing and just stand there for it to start pumping out beats that you can actually dance to again. I only stayed til 2 on Saturday, but the music was awesome.  ;D

Oh it was all funny to me, we started protesting them when they were protesting us. And then Anonymous showed up and they got rick rolled. Good times, good times. I don't know how they thought that anime = sin, but w/e, some people are just ignorant  :D

I'd love to attend a scientology protest... Are there any soon in the bay area with a god turnout expected?

*randomness* Lawls, the first post on this thread is from 2006!
Anyway, I'm super excited for the dance! I always have buckets 'o fun! :D Hopefully there wont be a crazy long line this time!

I saw Speed Racer last night at a press screening! It was actually very entertaining, I definitely was on the edge of my seat biting my nails during the races! The graphics were great, very unique style throughout the entire thing, though Speeds little brother made me want to shoot myself by the end of it- though I'm sure it entertained the younger children for whom this movie was made.
All around I'd give it a B-, maybe B. :)

so anyone into goa-psy trance? or infected mushroom? Just curious

Oooo, I would SO be down for some infected mushroom, or my personal favorite, DJ Angerfist. <333

As for the rap stuff, the fact remains that the vast majority of people at a con would rather dance to techno. I hate rap, personally x.x;

Well, when I talked to "it" friday night before the dance, "it" had an adam's apple...

QuoteShe played alot of stuff I've never heard before, where as I personally didn't like your set Stormy (hey you can rip on her music so I can rip on yours) because it was the typical euro trance and some other stuff that I think is boring,
You need a music lesson.  If you're gonna talk trash about what he played, get it right.
QuoteI noticed how much the place emptied after Caen left, I think that speaks for itself.

Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but if Caen was the ONLY DJ(snicker) that was doing 98% of the dance (2% going to Stormy), and Caen leaves, doesn't that mean the dance is  over?

And what's up with this Bsaphire person coming out of left field Starting trash when there was no trash being started?  And who the hell are you to be saying what's professional and what's not?  You don't even know what went down, so I advise you to leave that alone.

Stormy: Stop getting caught up in this nonsense.  Let them say whatever it is they have to say.  Because in the end, it doesn't even matter.

To everyone else: if you enjoyed the dance this year, good for you.  Thos e who didn't, do not worry.  This won't happen again, I can assure you.

Now, let's all just be happy, and enjoy the summer!

Wow. You should be shot for your first comment, I'm not even joking.

As for my whole 'the place emptied after Caen left' thing I was OBVIOUSLY talking about saturday when she let Stormy take over, which I'd like to add she did NOT have to do and only did because she's nice. When Stormy's stuff came on practically half the people left. Don't be such a smart ass.

All in all, it sounds to me like we just have to really pissed off DJs here because they didn't get the job. Deal with it. Try to get it next year. So what if she doesnt play the same music you do, does everyone have to play the same stuff? That'd be HORRIBLE.

Ideas and Suggestions / RE: Dance music!
June 12, 2007, 09:24:16 AM
I doubt Fanime would put together a couple different rooms, since judging from the equipment they had at the dance they spent a few thousand bucks putting it together. That sure would be cool though, having different themed rooms.

I like the pumping techno we got. There was more airy stuff played midnight to 2am saturday morning when DJ Caen let DJ Stormy play a bit though.

I'm guessing Fanime will move it into a bigger room. I dont think they were expecting such a large turnout is all. Friday was ok, and apparently everyone told each other how good the dance was on Friday so everyone came saturday, lol. It was very crowded, I agree.

She played alot of stuff I've never heard before, where as I personally didn't like your set Stormy (hey you can rip on her music so I can rip on yours) because it was the typical euro trance and some other stuff that I think is boring, where as people were going crazy and laughing and dancing like there was no tomorrow with Caens stuff. I noticed how much the place emptied after Caen left, I think that speaks for itself.

I did not play Euro Trance. you need to learn your genres. my sound was Psy Trance and Tech Trance. Psy Trance is anything but euro it is from the Middle east it originated in Israel and India and is also big in South American, and the Tech Trance sound is American example did anyone see how much Nicholas Bennison i played? just because Trance is big in Europe doesn't mean it is Euro Trance you need to learn your genres better and what each track is before you start labeling Electronic Music. i can understand why you think it is boring my sound appeals to older audiences and is a club and warehouse type sound its not the theme of young folks at a Anime convention.

Stormy (Dave S.)

Dj Stormy @ Myspace

That proves my point. The audience that was at Fanime likes a different kind of music than what you played. Thus, DJ Caen was the better pick for the Fanime dances. To each their own.

I know you didn't try to come off as harsh Stormy, but you did.

This is all I have to say. DJ Caen made the dance awesome, I don't know if you noticed, but everyone was having a blast and partied. People need to stop being picky. She did a fabulous job I think. AND she let you play for two hours which she did NOT have to do. dont complain because someone else got the gig you wanted.

Also I'd just like to point out that DJ Caen is a girl. stop saying him. gah.

There's a bunch of different kinds of music, obviously you can't please everyone. But I thought DJ Caen was really really really good.

I think my favorite memory of the Spartan guys was during the friday night dance, i ran up to them and went "SPARTAAAAA" and they turned around and were all "HELL YES" and i think they thought that the person that yelled was my bff who was next to me because they grabbed her and one of them started freak dancing with her and let me just tell you, this is the most unexperienced girl ever, never even danced let alone kissed a guy before (which is strange because shes hot) and you could tell she didn't really know how to dance, but the guy was all, "wanna hang out later?" at which point i heard this and stopped cracking up and was like "nu uh. my friend." and pulled her away. XD They were awesome, though. The drawn on abs were fabulous.
