Before I add to the compaints here, let me say I love Fanime. It's always a nice way to spend my weekend and unwind, especially after the school semester. However, this year, I was feeling a bit let down by the organization.

1. No schedules - Wiith so many events going on, you're bound to miss something important or something you'd like to go to without a schedule to tell you when everything is happening.

2. Congestion - There needs to be some ways to deal with the massive crowds that might occur. I never had a problem with this before, but with the super-heavy rain that occured this year, it was literally shoulder-to-shoulder costume-breaking crowds.

3. Rudeness of rovers - During the dance, my girlfriend wasn't dancing and instead was holding onto both of our badges while I mixed it up. She went outside to get a drink of water, and a rover threatened to pull both of the badges. Also, waiting in lines for events was absolutely ridiculous, especially in regards to the B&W ball (though I'm not sure if those are Fanime officials or not). The people supervising were just obscenely rude to those in line.

4. Supervision at the B&W ball - Very simple, but people should not be running through the dance floor or trying to start conga lines at the ball. That kind of thing needs to be put down fast.

5. Lastly, the DJs at the dances- The beats were super weak this year. The music would not keep flowing like it should for a rave.

However, despite all these, I still had plenty of fun at this year's Fanime. I especially enjoyed plaing Marvel on Stage Zero. It was a nice touch not having to donate tons of money to get up on stage.

I really should bring cards next time just so I can get these sent to my Email instead. I didn't take TOO many pictures, but if anybody got one of Sogo Okita from Gintama (I was the one carrying the bazooka around everywhere), i'd appreciate them sent to my email. [email protected]

Still waiting on the email =D.

I've submitted the idea in the panels forum, but feel free to hype it up here, or move on to the panels.

The event is scheduled to go on for around half an hour, maybe later, depending on how quickly the clues are found. Trying to get this idea out there before Fanime comes!

Actually. Simpler solution. Here is the link to the event that I am proposing. I have a story outlined and ready for submission if this idea gets the good to go.

Panels and Workshops / Late Night Mystery Event

For a good long while, I've been toying with an idea to hold a mystery game on Friday night of fanime, an interactive cosplay event of sorts. It's been gathering speed, and after writing and submitting the rough outline for the story, I was told to post the suggestion here. Would any admin be available to move the topic from Idea and Suggestions to this section, or should I just work on copying and pasting the relevant bits?

The story overview is finished. All I need to do is add in the actual puzzles and assign roles, assuming there is enough time for this to be approved. If it is approved, I'll be running a practice session with a few NPCs on Thursday.

Oh. And if the assistant NPC were someone like Luke, Mia, or any of the respective assistant characters from Layton or Phoenix Wright, it would be doubly fantastic.

Writing of the story is coming along smoothly for once, however, I need someone to volunteer as a "Assistant" NPC. Someone who will be around at the beginning of this game to help with the intro, and who will be available for contact during all scenes of the game (Predicted to be an hour or two in total.)

Haha. Even if it doesn't get started, search me out. I'll throw a puzzle or two your way.

It's unfortunate, but this semester has been kicking the crap out of me. I'll try to get this story done soon, but I'm not sure how much time will be left to organize the event. If it doesn't come about this year, next year I'll be sure to prepare more thoroughly.

Hey everyone, sorry for disappearing. This semester has just been relatively brutal on me. I'm still writing the storyline, and should have it finished by the end of the month at most.

I'm still trying to gather support, though I missed the last fanime meeting -_-.

Complicated sucks, but at least it promises to be a good game if performed properly =).

LadyGlitterbow brings up a few good points that I've been meaning to write myself.

The NPC's are going to be 'HOPEFULLY' a mix of cosplayers and plainclothes, and rather than simply approaching them and asking them plainly about clues, certain 'prompts' would be required in order to get them to speak up: EG - Instead of going up to someone and asking 'are you an NPC', someone would have to ask something along the lines of... "Did you hear about that commotion that happened outside of the dealer room?"

Also, if you're interested in becoming a NPC, I wouldn't mind an email being sent to me, just so I can plot according to how many people sign up.
The event will be held one day at around 9:00PM on Friday, with another being held on Saturday if there is a lot of interest!!

If you're interested in being an NPC, send me a private message here, or at [email protected]

10/30.

Change of plans: In order to present the idea at the next fanime meeting, I'm going to try and create as much as possible, including the story, layout, clues, and others. I do hope to continue gathering support though.

8/30.

And I plan on pushing for this event to happen on Friday night, with signups taking place During Day Zero and Day 1. If there are enough people willing to participate, I'll try to set up 2 games.
