By the way, sign-up for the Anime Costume Parade is open. You can sign up for either the Costume Contest & Parade, or just for the Parade.
Sign up at Japan Video in Japantown, San Francisco. I think the deadline to sign up is April 12th but weren't they allowing people to sign-up (at least for the contest) on the day of the parade also?
The parade will be on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 1:00pm but the contest takes place earlier, around 10:30 am. Check in by 10:00am.
Of course, the Cherry Blossom Festival begins the week before.

After the parade, restaurants in J-Town get soooo packed, it's hard to eat somewhere. I'm sure we can try to make things work out.

I signed myself up for the parade. I'm cosplaying as Syaoran from Tsubasa Chronicles. Two years ago, the sword shop was selling swords on sale. Need a sword for Syaoran for Fanime ^^
I'm going to bring my FC3S costume and have fun "drifting" in the streets of San Francisco for this year's parade. 8) Hopefully the weather will be good else I'll just be there and take pictures.
Since I can't bring my car to Fanime (no room due to all the swap meet stuff i'm selling) this will the only time this year i'll have it at a cosplay-event until my new FC is made.

Yeah Wondercon I was preoccupied with the masquerade and trying to navigate through all the other people to get to panels and the dealer's room, so the parade will be a nice time to kick back and hang out lol XD
As for the weekend of the 20th, I've looked at the schedule on the SCBF's website and it looks like the costume contest happens on saturday afternoon on the 19th. Edit: OK, THIS IS THE FASHION SHOW, NOT THE COSTUME CONTEST.The schedule is misprinted with the wrong event. Bart has told me about this because he got a reply from the coordinator of the cosplay contest. Disregard that, please.
The costume contest will happen on sunday morning as scheduled.

It's going to be my first time at the Cherry Blossom festival. I've missed it the past few years. I always find out about it after it happens :-\ I dont know about the parade but i'll definetly be there to enjoy the festival and see everybody!

I was there yesterday and man, it was fun, despite being windy. I bought some stuff at Kino and had lunch at Osakaya. Later on, me, Bart and the salinas crew along with Jeff(ultramangaia), we went to go see The Forbidden Kingdom. Pretty awesome movie imo. Then I came home.
I'll be there later on today for some more cherry blossom goodness.

Getting accidentally spiked with a prop's tip directly on the side of my head almost put me out of action for the duration of the festival. At least it wasn't intentional and were cool afterwards. XD
Nonetheless, the CBF was very fun. I had an awesome time walking the parade fir the first time. What a nice way to burn out some calories.
Now, to actually sign up for the costume contest next time... :P

lol, yeah That guy was kinda weird, because after you and I talked about your costume, and how I complimented you on it, he came back after you left, and started telling me about who you were dressing up as (I already knew)... I was like, "What?" I thought he was your friend or something so, I was like aha ha...
Chloe: They were supposed to have two floats this year, like last year, so the 1st through 4th place winners would've been able to ride on them for the entire parade. I don't know if Safeway screwed up regarding that. I'm still pretty disappointed in that, not to mention those 4 women who were supposedly sponsors from Safeway, had to be up on the float in-front of the 2nd-3rd winners. :P They could've easily have fit in the back of the truck with Wendell, and them being there looked pretty retarded. It took away some of the attention from the cosplayers, as the 4 didn't wear any Safeway attire.. just normal clothes, so people watching from the audience had no idea who they were.
btw, i liked your Kula! I hope you wear her again at Fanime next month for more pics! :)

Sort of, but not really that close (I'm more friends wit Shinsengumi and RubymoonIII). I'm trying to keep him away so he doesn't bother other cosplayers since I know him well plus he frightened couple of my other cosplaying friends. Now he's considered stalking the cosplayers at CBF. If you find someone suspicious or anyone bothering u just come up to me, I'll shoo them out on your behalf.

yay for replying late, like almost a week after the parade XD
anyways, i had a lot of fun participating for the second time in the parade and the contest. I place 4th ^^ I was the Bankai Renji Abarai with Hihio Zabimaru. kinda bummed that 4th place winners didnt get a float or announced at the plaza, but it just makes me more determined to place higher for next year.
I had a great time. Sorry about the bad news to the 4th places winners. Thanks Eurobeat King for the information. Everyone's costumes were terriffic.
I didn't buy a sword. The sword shop was a rip-off even with the CBF sale =( I buy my sword online.
