Registration / In bit of a pickle
May 21, 2007, 11:46:18 PM
Well....now this isnt an official opinion or anything like that so dont take this as the Word of God here, but if he's got his friend's actual physical official california government issue identification card or driver's license, he might have a chance. I wont say its 100% but all I can say is bring it along and see. Talk to the head of registration while youre there if you can.

I have never seen a doujin wallscroll.

But then again, this is Touhou.

"Ink and CLOTH. You'll find plenty of both down there."

"This is blasphemy, doujinka! This is madness!"

"Madness....? THIS IS TOUHOU!!"

Registration / Quick Question for the Confused
May 13, 2007, 05:23:33 PM
Good question!

Here, I will give you a map so you can know what I'm talking about. http://www.sanjose.org/meetings/facilities/floorplans/conv_layout.jpg

This is a map of the convention center. The top portion is the first floor ("Street Level") and the bottom portion is the second floor ("Exhibit Level") I know it seems a little backwards.

Most of the stuff on this map is pretty self explanitory, so Im going to assume you know where the main enterance is (the one near the large outdoor fountain) and can figure out the difference between the convention center and the two hotels connected to it when you get there.

If this year is anything like previous years, registration will, oddly enough, be held in the "Registration Area" marked on the map. If youre having trouble finding it, it is just across from the Main Enterance, and between the Market Street Enterance/Marriot Hotel and the Arcade/Hilton/Almaden Boulevard Enterance.

When you get there you'll probably see a big line extending west and bending around the walls toward the Market Street Enterance. Remember! When standing in line, please do not block any doors! ^_^000 *volunteer that has worked line duty many times*

....what is BL?
Boys' Love.

Thank you, Tsubasa. I feel like a noob for not thinking of that myself ^_^0

Registration / needing a guardian?
May 11, 2007, 09:33:28 PM
Not really. We're not responsible for wandering kids ^_^0

But if she wants to volunteer, then we ARE partially responsible and she'll have to bring a signed permission slip wavier thing saying her parents are allowing her to volunteer. I dont know the details on that, however. You should ask someone in the volunteer section if youre planning on doing that!

I think Tsubasa, Spiritsnare, or Makou (or one of our other resident moe sig/av creators) should be the button and banner designer XD

She's over eighteen so it shouldnt be an issue. As long as its paid for and registered in her name, she can pick up her badge using her government ID. Age isnt printed on badges or anything like that. You can work hard and maybe get it fixed if you want, but its just a technicality.

Why didnt you just post it here? Maybe some of us are interested in figures, too ;_;

Really...youre not a chick. You just...really dont know what its like ^_^0

Assuming that you're speaking to me, what exactly is your point? Being a chick or not being a chick doesn't make a difference here. There are good and bad points to a fitting room for both sexes.

Quote from: "Jelly Soup"Then it's on the dealer (or you, if you know you'll be on the market for one) to provide a chart of some kind.

Because things dont really work that way for girls. Yes, there are good and bad points to fitting rooms for both genders, but girls have special needs when it comes to making clothes fit. It really just does NOT work that way.

Registration / Registration Account Help
May 10, 2007, 02:12:31 AM
Im not saying you shouldnt keep trying, but really? If all else fails?

......just forget about it.

As long as she's paid for and the badge has her name on it, you SHOULD be good. They used to send you a little card that you could use to redeem for your badge, but I dont remember if they still do that or not. Regardless, all she needs in order to get her badge is herself and her government issue photo ID. It sounds like its properly registered in her name and all paid for and such, and thats all that REALLY matters.

So, yeah. Keep trying to get everything fixed, just....dont freak out too much if it you cant.

General Convention Discussion / How I Roll
May 08, 2007, 04:27:51 PM
At the moment I am not exactly sure what the station name is. All I know is that the directions I got from it to the convention center told me its just over a mile of walking from one to the other, which would be about 20 miniutes. I know that doesnt sound like much, but...again. Hot sun. Lots of crap. Not in great shape. Not to mention I'll be going through the middle of downtown San Jose.

Its not impossible. Its just a very large pain in the ass I'd rather avoid.

General Convention Discussion / How I Roll
May 08, 2007, 01:34:07 AM
I know that I have posted this in more than one section of the board. I thought it appropriate, but if the staff finds this unacceptable please take the appropriate action. Now then.

Today is Tuesday, the 8th of may. On Wednesday, the 9th of may, I shall purchase my Amtrak ticket that will allow me to, as they say, "get jiggy wid it."

Where this ticket will ultimately take me depends on you.

The Scenario: I reside in Sacramento. I wish to arrive AT THE CONVENTION SITE around noon, on THURSDAY THE 24th. I will also accept as early as ten and as late as one.

Now I could simply amtrak straight from Sacramento to San Jose. This will take about three hours in comfort, but I will be alone and bored and when I get to the end of the line I get to walk a mile from the station to the convention center in the hot sun loaded with crap.

This is not ideal.

Thus! If anyone else is planning on (or is willing to) arrive within this timeframe on the proper date, lives north of San Jose, and has room, would you be willing to give me a ride? I will amtrak to as near to you as I can, and you come pick me up and we go from there together, and a good time is had by all. Now, I am loud and like to talk and will likely have several bags and possibly some other stuff, but I do not smell and am very friendly and nice. This will likely be cheaper for me, and will give me some company for at least part of the trip.

A willingness to take me back the same way monday evening is much preferred, but is not strictly necessary.

An alternative! I understand that I am asking a bit from you, and some people actually live in San Jose itself which would make this kind of silly for them (unless theyre willing to drive north and get me from another station?) And so, I offer this alternative. Is anybody willing to pick me up from the station about a mile from the convention center at any point between those times, so at least I dont have to walk?

If anybody is willing to take up this noble quest, please reply to this thread or, better yet, PM me with where you are, where youre willing to pick me up at, when youre willing to pick me up, and what time you want to arrive at the convention on thursday.

Thanks in advance!
