Hotel and Facilities / Re: Edit Hotel registration
November 10, 2014, 09:31:19 PM

That's the link I used to edit my information. Note how it keeps telling me to check out now, but if I look at 'View Confirmation' it shows me my old information on the reservation. I didn't have to change anything major; it was just a mistake on a name, but I hope that I didn't somehow screw up the reservation and invalidate it.

Yeah, I just attempted it right now and it seems the coding on that feature is a bit screwed up at the moment. It thinks you're booking an entirely new room when you change the information in the forms. I got a message saying my actions would cause an over-sell and I panicked for quite a while until I realized that my old reservation was still there in the confirmation page.

Quick question! The last part of the hotel registration is stating that "Your credit card will be charged immediately upon clicking 'Accept Conditions and Submit Payment'". Does this mean your card gets charged full amount? I can't seem to reserve a hotel any other way, and I'm hesitant to click on this if I'm going to be charged the full amount right away. This is the first I've seen this, so may I please have verification?
While I'm a little disappointed that I haven't received a response to this and thus lost my reservation, my girlfriend was able to get through calling CMR and winded up with a confirmed reservation for our group without getting this supposed 'payment submission'. I understood that we didn't need a paid membership with our hotel reservation, thus my confusion on the matter.

Whichever. Good luck to everyone else!

D'oh, this is a bit late, but I think I understand what the "payment" is. The checkout page works like most online purchases that have a more easily identified "cart" system. Each time you checkout, whether it's for badges, hotels, or both, it notifies you that any actual payments you need to make will be charged immediately. If you have unpaid badges they'll get paid for automatically if you attempt to check out. The only way to avoid this as far as I can tell is to book a hotel first, and THEN put a badge into the cart after and leave the outstanding balance for later.

For me, all I had was a paid badge on my account, so when I booked the hotel it didn't charge me anything. The immediate payment notification still came up, but since the payments totaled to $0.00, nothing happened.

Does this mean badges are being printed on location again? I just want to confirm because I purchased a FanimeCon badge and plan to pick it up at the Clockwork Alchemy location for convenience. I'm not worried about which art I get, but whether or not I can do that without changing anything on my order.

That's correct. Doesn't matter what you put down on the form, you can pick up either place.

Alright, thanks a lot, that makes things a lot simpler.

I thought these were one event, but it's making me choose which to register for. Are these two separate events or does it not matter which I register for, like General Admission covers everything?

There are two choices, the location you wish to pick up your badge and your main reason for attending. The main reason for attending option is really for the con's reference only when tallying attendance and evaluating metrics. At this point it seams your choice may or may not affect the artwork that appears on your badge but will NOT affect what events you can attend. I chose Fanime as my main reason for attending and that I will be picking up my badge at CA, they may accommodate my Fanime badge and issue me one with fanime artwork but I am also prepared for that not to be the case. Everyone could get the same badges or you might be stuck with the design for your pickup location.
I am confirming that where you pick up your badge is the artwork you will get on your badge. Thus, if you pick up at CA, you will get CA artwork. If you pick up at Fanime, then you will get Fanime artwork.

Does this mean badges are being printed on location again? I just want to confirm because I purchased a FanimeCon badge and plan to pick it up at the Clockwork Alchemy location for convenience. Is the Holiday Inn too far from the convention center to walk and are there usually people walking back and forth often?

Only if there's people in the mood for a two hour walk.

The browser for the SteamOS had better be better(wait, wut?) than the current....  I'll keep my Linux lol

I wonder what kind of security the OS will have?

I somehow feel like Steam OS won't have enough of a population for it to be targeted by very many viruses. I still can't imagine that it'd be the most secure thing in the world, though. I'm way too computer illiterate to move away from Windows, but I'm not silly enough to use Steam OS all of the sudden on my PC.
My fear would be that people would try to hack into accounts to get card info or transfer account balances or something related to that junk... Dunno(never thought about it) how the Steam wallet system works exactly- but I'll just guess till I give a care.

Those of us running Steam on Windows are already at risk of that. Same thing with each time you access your e-mail. If you're particularly paranoid about these kinds of things I recommend making sure your credit card info isn't saved anywhere.

I got booted out after selecting a room at the Marriot and then again when trying to get one at the Sainte Claire (the Hilton and Marriot got booked out in those few minutes).

After half an hour I got a room at the DoubleTree, and I have to say, I'm not very happy right now.

Here's hoping waitlists go well.

If you have a gaming PC there's not too much reason for a Steambox, but otherwise I think it's a nicer option than the other consoles on the market.

I have to wonder if anybody will actually make SteamOS exclusives, though. Valve said they wouldn't do it, but they can't stop third party developers from doing so. I don't really think it would make somebody want to buy a Steambox for an exclusive though. And I really hope nobody is crazy enough to write over their OS on their desktop PC with Steam OS just to play a game.

Is that a Poring attached to a Roomba with painter's tape?

If so, those things avoid obstacles, which would explain why it turned around when it got near people. Also, look how it spazzed out rolling back and forth on a piece of paper, it was trying its best to pick the thing up.

If you're scared of asking strangers, I'll be more than willing to be the annoying guy that asks people to be his pawn.

Yeah, a lot of these requests are seriously tough, best of luck to you with them, even if you can't get it down perfectly it'll still be awesome to even see an attempt of some of the crazier ones.

"Bad Dog No Biscuits" and "Too Good Too Bad" from Cowboy Bebop would be awesome to hear.

I have a feeling the requests are going to be swamped with Cowboy Bebop tracks, but there's a good reason for it!

Don't mean to nitpick, but neither of the Tales of Destiny games are here, they were such classics, too!

Another one of my friends agreed to be a piece!

He said he wanted to be a White Knight, I'll try to get more people to join up if I can.

ok he's added....thou when you can, may i have a name to but down, vs. "friend of MR LEX #2" ^^ might be more polite for them also thanks so much!

Ahaha, neither of them have forum accounts, but I'll give you first names.

The first friend's name is Gavin, and the second one is Huy. They've never been to an event like this, so it should be interesting enough for them.

The more chess the better! If I don't find anything else to do at night, I'll definitely stop on by for this one too.

I should probably mention I never played Checkers before, so unless you want to teach me, you're definitely going to need more players or else we're going to be stuck playing chess all day.  :P
