GIRUGAMESH!
Nitro Mega Prayer!
I'd be super happy if they were a guest (in 2010, I suppose).
Fanime needs moar jazz.
Paris Match, JiLL-Decoy association, or Orange Pekoe, please.
Haha, I know, none of those will really draw a crowd in to Fanime, but we need to expand on genres. D:
Also, Guitar Vader. We deserve them, since they never got to perform before.
I still say Nujabes dammit... Oh hell, Go! Go! 7188
Go! Go! 7188 appears in the bay all the time, no point in having them at the con.
But for a real suggestion PornoGraffiti still hasn't come to the US. Not only have they done numerous anime, and currently the newest Bleach Movie theme song, but they have a long history of really good music. They perform AMAZINGLY live as well. Every concert they do is extremely high energy and entertaining. I don't know how well it will translate, but if you've ever seen/heard a blink 182 show... it's like that. Where they add in a lot of extra stuff, talk to the audience and just make the time really enjoyable, over playing a few songs, and then leaving.
They're not rock enough to call rock, and not pop in the slightest.
I don't know how possible it would be to get the following. Maybe someone that has better insight to music industry in Japan can comment on these artist selections.
I'd love to see Miliyah Kato at musicfest. 20-Cry is an amazing song and that's just for starters and one of her more recent tracks
Crystal Kay has US roots so, perhaps getting her would not be too much of a stretch?
Namie Amuro is also on my list but I'm pretty sure that one is impossible.
Anna Tsuchiya was at AX in 2k7 so...
Hitomi Shimatani (prob impossible unless someone is in good with Avex Trax)
And as with all other "what artists do you want" threads I'll say my usual picks...
BOA, M-Flo, Three Nation and Chemistry

Oh I wish. But if Porno Graffiti ever came to Fanime, I would seriously wait in line forever. If Fanime could grant my wishes, it would be to have the band come. I think they would be great for both rock and pop fans.
Also, I think it would be really cool if a band like OGRE YOU A**HOLE or Number Girl came. It's time to give some indie fans some cool bands to check out :3. Also, Glacier, xTRiPx, or (like this could ever happen) Acid Black Cherry would be pretty cool.

Want to add Girl Next Door (http://avexnet.jp/id/girln/index.html) to my wishlist.
Girl Next Door is like, the most generic late 90's style AVEX band ever. Having listened to a lot of AVEX stuff in the 90's, I can't stand them. Atleast with cookie cutter pop idols in the US, they each have a unique part about them, but Girl Next Door is just so generic that they have no appeal at all to me.
Bump of Chicken really needs to come to the US. They'd fit in at a convention, seeing that all of them are super nerds.
Those are the two bands that I think I will actually push Fanime to attempt to get... Bump of Chicken and Porno Graffiti. You hear them Julia!
W-INDS *_____*
My lifelong dream to bring them to the US
And I dunno
Maybe LM.C too
I would love to see Abingdon Boys School, or perhaps D'espairs Ray again. :)
Cherry Blossom (up tempo great songs!)
Rythem (Great Harmony!)
Lia (I love her songs!!)
Ichiro Mizuki (He is one of the BIG 4 of Anime Singer and I want to hear the live "Z!!!!")
Actually, Any AnimeSong Big 4!!! (Ichiro Mizuki, Kumiko Oosugi, Mitsuko Horie, Sasaki Isao)
Changin' My Life would be awesome imo and the lead singer (Myco) could be a crossover guest. she's done voice acting work also.

i went this year though and it was amazing. -sorry off topic XD
ahah ancafe last year
music fest was hectic
due to their hype

Also bring back Momoi and I would just DIE of happiness if SPEED ever came :D
I would love to see ZZ come back again, I saw them perform in 2007 and they were awesome!

But come on.Maximum the Hormone is perfect for us geasers who want some old school back. 8)
If not then Aqua Timez would do. Alonez, Velonica, and others that they sing are amazing.
But come on. I would stay in line for 3 hours to have the chance to see them front row ,man. >:(
please.... :-* :-* :-*
Ohayo minnasan~
i think we should try to get bigger stars nect year. i didn't go this year cause i've never heard of the lady who was performing.
i want to see GACTK or Yoshiki or some big stars! mana went to anime expo so he might want to come to fanime!
we should also try to get johnnies too! like KAT-TUN or NEWS! they sang the one piece thig so it's anime related!
Chihara Minori Chihara Minori Chihara Minori Chihara Minori Chihara Minori Chihara Minori Chihara Minori Chihara Minori
or
Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume Perfume
OH yeah, we should also try to get ayumi hamisaki or utada hikaru too!
Luna Sea or Avidoll anyone>? and it would be awsome if utada hikaru went or tm revolution went :o :o :o :o
Yes bring back Momoi! I went from Momo-who? to MOMO-I! literally within the span of this convention. :P
I wouldn't mind KOTOKO either though.
Just to switch it up, I would love to see DEERHOOF come to music fest and they are local!
Miliyah Kato and M-Flo are still top my list along with Momoi. That concert was epic! Wish I could have participated.
Momoi should come back for sure, even if you have never heard of her, her lives are SO AMAZING and everyone sang and danced. She even ran arround the auditorium. Not to mention shes a very sweet woman who loves to be around people c:
Also Plastic Tree would make my year if they came to Fanimecon, Just to be in the same room with Arimura Ryutaro would be amazing they have done Anime Op's as well
Putting in a request for a friend...Bump of Chicken.
I third Nujabes. FANIME WITH NUJABES WOULD BE SO WINN.
I agree Bump of Chicken and/or Porno Graffiti
would be so awesome
I would like to The Brilliant Green or TommyHeavenly6 come to Fanime.
Far East Movement
Pizzicato Five

:I
Stance Punk.
I don't know much about them, but they made my favorite J-rock song.
M-Flo and Teriyaki Boyz!
If you don't know who the Teriyaki Boyz are, than look up the video for "ZOCK ON!" for one of their songs and for a couple surprise guests that everyone here should be familar with. :)
Tohoshinki and BoA?!

I think that there's a large percentage that enjoy those genres that are more vocal on the boards. Myself, I tend to like jpop and hip hop more than jrock/vkei but I don't really speak out that much on the forums. I just read. :D
But we'll definitely keep everyone's requests in mind as we work on getting our next musical guest. :D So keep those suggestions coming!

Hitomi Shimatani (prob impossible unless someone is in good with Avex Trax)
I think she'd be great in concert. Weren't FanimeCon's biggest musical acts from the last three years all signed with Avex? I like almost all Avex artists that did songs for Inu Yasha: Dream (DRM), ELT, ...
I've also been converted to the "Halko Momoi, please come back" crowd.
If it's possible to book them, Sex Machineguns and/or Susumu Hirasawa would be awesome. They'd be a little odd together on the same bill, though.
PE'Z. Knotlamp. Momoi again. (Best part of the con, hands down.)

A friend of mine wants to try out his local band for Fanime MusicFest if its possible. I got their contacts, PM/mail me or check their site http://bentomusic.com/
The name of the band is "bento" and they're an Alternative Rock band.
if they want to play and are serious about it, they should e-mail musicfestATfanimeDOTcom.....too much going on in this thread for staff to sort through. This thread is more meant for guidance on finding a headliner.
Aqua Timez would be great seeing live! There songs are always fun and I bet they have a great stag performance.
Spooky Theater Halloween would also be fun but have a feeling there isn't alot of fan's for them ???
Some of these are probably not very likely butttt...
I would love to see either IIMIX Delta/TWO-MIX, ALI PROJECT, Aural Vampire, Ayabie, the brilliant green, D'espairsRay, DuelJewel (bring them back!), KOTOKO, mothercoat (bring them back!), T.M.Revolution, Tommy February6/Heavenly6, Vidoll, Yuki Kajiura...
Maybe GPKISM but considering the guitarist of that band was the guitarist of BLOOD and the band kind of got kicked out of Fanime years back... probably not.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but I'd like to see Abe Mao. :D
Not sure how popular she is or really much of anything about her except that she has an awesomely grating voice... <3

PureQ&A anyone?
Berryz Koubou, please :)
Their stuff has been used in anime and games, so they're relevant. Plus, they have enough of a fanbase to bring people from all over to see them. Hell, some of their fans in Japan would be sure to come along to SJ to see them perform here.

Every year... every con... people ask for the Pillows. I will never understand it.
Some funny news I just heard about The Pillows. They were offered to play a concert with Oasis. They declined... and their reasoning was that, it would make bigger news if they declined than if they accepted it. AWESOME!
I say Fanime needs to turn up the music a gigantic notch and try to get SA (Samurai Attack) back over to the States. Great punk music and a lead singer with a great pompadour.
Monkey Majik.
High and Mighty Color please! ;D They'll be at Sakura-Con, so maybe they could stop by for Fanime? xD

As much as I would love love LOVEE for Arashi to be at MusicFest, they're scheduled to do a drama in the springtime staring all five of them, sooooo that might be difficult.
Not to mention they're beyond super popular that they'd probably cost more than what we spend to run the entire convention.I hardly post on here, but I DO look at the suggestions, so keep them coming!
Have we ever had anything on the urban side at Fanime? Like an R&B or hip-hop artist or anything?
I really like SONOMI and think that she'd be fun to watch. Plus, it would ass more genres. We have to have R&B fans at the con...right?
...Though, I admit that I would probably go see Buono! if they came. x3 Not a fan of their kind of pop, but their music is really catchy, the girls are really cute, and they would be a lot of fun to watch.

:D :D :D
I'd die. hahaha~~~
As much as I am up for most of the other suggestions posted.
I'll love to add some more.
I'd like to suggest Gackt and here is my reasons.
a) He's popular in California, B) He made an appearance back in 2007 for Anime Expo and it would not hurt to invite him for Fanime.
Since, Fanime is just a wondeful con al the way around. C) I want to see him come to Fanime so bad, since I missed my chance to go to Anime Expo in 2007 due to a severe illness I had that year. Not only that, he's very active and has sung for many games/Anime alone and I can picture him coming. :3
Another suggestion is Mana or The GazettE:
I am a fan of both as well, I heard Mana recently went to Anime Expo last year and I have yet to see a GazettE Concert (Uruha is my favorite band member)
I can also picture them coming to a con like Fanime.
Other than that,
It would be cool to bring back An Cafe, since I really got into them after watching various performances of Snow Scene and I missed the concert in 2008, due to exhaustion.
This is what I can suggest for now and will post again if I can come up with others. :3

I doubt it would happen, but I'm throwing out Kalafina :3 They're my current musical obsession, at the moment. I've heard they've preformed at Anime Boston, and I would die to see them live x-x
I think COOL&CREATE would be an excellent, good energy, fan-involved band.

the GazettE.
; - ; If they came...I'd cry.
Literally, I'd cry.
Alice Nine, Plastic Tree, Girugamesh (>>lol), Matenrou Opera...are all good choices too...~
I think rotating between genres of Japanese music would be really good.
An Cafe was Oshare Kei/J-Popness, last year's guess (O_O; her name escapes me..Moi?somethingsomething?) was J-Popness and Anime/Otaku-y, and I was hoping this year could be a little rougher around the edges. /cough Jrock.
Pretty please. ; - ;
The Trax for Fanime Musicfest 2010, I mean come on it won't hurt if there is a deal that can be done....

As much as I would love love LOVEE for Arashi to be at MusicFest, they're scheduled to do a drama in the springtime staring all five of them, sooooo that might be difficult.
Not to mention they're beyond super popular that they'd probably cost more than what we spend to run the entire convention.
I hardly post on here, but I DO look at the suggestions, so keep them coming!
oh my gah, if arashi came... it's nearly impossible, they're beyond super popular right now.
Would it be possible for Nami Tamaki to be there? O.o
Hey guys there is this really cool band called The Slants. They're from Portland, Oregon, and their genre is Chinatown Dance Rock. They put on an awesome concert and they make sure the fans are involved. They're on both myspace and facebook, so look them up! I would really like to see them at Fanime!
Uhm... that is not a genre of music, and there is a sticky thread for musical suggestions in the event forum.
;DRusika should come again! [/font]
How bout Gackt?
*runs from the pitchforks and torches*
Kimeru was in Korea and France. It would be amazing if he came.
However, this one electronic group called 'Capsule' would be very neat to have at Fanime. <3 They've done a lot of mixes for other groups like Clazziquai and what not; and they're under the same label as Perfume~ Ooh Perfume would be fun too! ^_^
Here would be my top three in order of enthusiasm for each:
- the GazettE (a. their music and lives are amazing b.they have a very devoted fanbase who would fly in just to see them = more attendance/money for the con c. like chifunii, I may cry with joy)
- girugamesh (because they rock, hard)
- D'espairsray (again, amazing)

THAT'LL BE SO HOT!
I like the idea of Nujabes...It'd be cool if he could perform with Shing02 (who lives in the Bay Area) as well.
I'd also like to request:
Perfume
Capsule (seems more likely because it's just Yasutaka and Toshiko)
Yuya Matsushita (r&b/urban pop, played Sebastian in the Kuroshitsuji musical)
Soil & "Pimp" Sessions (crazy club jazz band)
Lotus Juice
Tokyo Jihen or Shiina Ringo
I'd request Gackt, but since he likes to go all out, I think he'd need at least a year in advance, haha.

And about 500,000$
Besides, he's not even considered a musician anymore despite releasing songs occasionally (and December Love song like 149823985325 times). He's a TV personality now.

Probably true about the money thing, since some of the expenses often come from his own pocket.
Who did you hear that from? His 10 year anniversary was last year, so he released 4 singles just for that...His latest album, Re:born, came out just last month, followed by a new single, Setsugekka. He also did a soundtrack for a pachinko game called Gladiator. The soundtrack used older songs, but many of them were new recordings. Of course, this does not include all the Kamen Rider singles...
Haha, I suppose you were joking, and I just happened to fall into the trap? XD
Anyway, back on topic, I'd really like to push for Capsule this year. I noticed there are others in the forum who have requested them too, and although I'm not sure exactly how many of the attendees are into electropop, I think it'd be a fun show.

Hear what from? I said he still releases stuff, but in general he's not viewed as a musician half as much as he's viewed as a TV personality now. I'm assuming you mean "who did I hear that he's more of a TV personality from", and I would say, no one and everyone... because that's what he is. He's on Variety shows 5 times a week, and it's just to be there as a guest, in the same way people like Hoshino Aki and Yuko Ogura are (because they really can't be considered gravure idols anymore, despite still doing some gravure stuff). The general populace knows them for being TV personalities more so than they are for their music/modeling stuff now.
I like Capsule and all, but have they done anything even remotely related to anime?

Hm...I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Yes, he's popular on t.v. because he's entertaining in general, to fans and non-fans alike, and he says and does random and funny things. Those that are fans watch him because they follow his music, and those that aren't watch him because he's simply entertaining. Being on t.v. ≠ "not working on music". You can go to the studio for a few hours in the day time, and go to a television studio at night. Many musicians do this, and they may even go on t.v. shows when touring. As I said before, he's been working on a lot of tracks recently in addition to doing his RR2 Tour, so he has a lot of reasons to promote himself on t.v., as well as the fact that his 36th single came out just last month. As for the gravure idols (former or not), we all know why they're there, haha. Then again, if a gravure idol wants to quit gravure and not go in the *other* direction, it's probably a good idea to get herself on t.v. or get into acting if she wants to stay relevant.
Capsule doesn't have an anime relation unless you count their 3 animated PV's by Momose Yoshiyuki (of Studio Kajino), but they do have one to manga. They did the first soundtrack for the Drama adaptation of Shinobu Kaitani's Liar Game manga, and they are also doing the soundtrack for the show's second season. However, considering that we've had previous guests such as Kamijo, Mothercoat, Karma Shenjing, and Blood, I don't think the fact that they don't have (well known) anime ties will completely diminish one's interest.
Stay on topic. This thread is for suggestions, Musicfest can evaluate the bands individually on their own.
MAXIMUM THE HORMONE
Peelander-Z would be an awesome addition to the line up. They are this Japanese punk rock band from NYC heavily influenced by Power Rangers. If you haven't heard of them, here is the video for the song Mad Tiger.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VIFkDacTPU
The Gazette would be awesome if possible. Their lives are always full of energy and intense rock. Definitely a good example of VK too ;)
I'd suggest:
SuG (They did an ending for katekyo Hitman REBORN!)
Plastic Tree
Bump of Chicken
The Pillows
Kosaka Riyu
Tommy February6
and Ali Project.
Alice Nine
La-Vie
O-Zone
Knotlamp << this one because quite a few of their songs are in english :3
Expect an announcement on Valentine's Day ;)
And my suggestions for peoples are:
Home Made Kazoku
Himeka
Ali Project
Angela
Elisa
Now, if only Galneryus were still together.... :-[
UVERworld - I haven't heard of them coming to the US yet, but they are awesome!
Hitomi Takahashi
the Gazette - Yeah right....
Crystal Kay
Utada Hikaru
Sowelu
Back-on
And a bunch of other artist that will never come to fanime con. Lol

Now that we know LM.C is coming, why not theme it to Red Garden's OP/ED and bring out JiLL-Decoy association? ;)

Come on, how fun is this stuff? :D
I can always dream...
Oh joy! So, then, it's just a matter of who get's to the front of the line first...
I've said this before and I'll say it again.
SuG (still indie... shouldn't be too hard >.< in my mind anyway)
UVERworld
Hitomi Takahashi
Back-on
Sowelu
Utada Hikaru
the GazettE
XP I'm just too hopeful... but, I will love fanime FOREVER if any of those artist showed up. Plus, I'll die.

waaa I have suggestion but this time I have sites too! (w/music sample in most of them!)

Alice Nine http://www.myspace.com/alicenineofficial << VK
Vistlip http://www.vistlip.com/ (click "enter site") <<VK
Jealkb (name is a parody of "visual kei") http://jealkb.jp/home.html <<VK paro
JAMProject (they went to otakon i believe before) http://jamjamsite.com/
Maximum the Hormone http://www.maximumthehormone.jp/
I have never attended any of the Musicfests in my 6 years of going to Fanime, (mostly because I was under the impression that the only bands that get booked are visual kei, and it's not really my thing), but I would definitely,
definitely be in line for these people:
- the pillows (They're legends, they love their fans, and they have their music played in anime)
- Utada Hikaru (Very well known)
- Tommy Heavenly6 (I think she'd fit in pretty well)
- YUI (She'd get all the Bleach fans, at the very least, which is quite a lot)
- Jyukai (Not sure how they'd do live, their music is pretty slow-tempo'd)
- Kalafina (Same issue as Jyukai, but they'd be pretty awesome to hear)
- School Food Punishment (Not sure exactly how popular they are, but they are really exceptional)
Without a doubt, if miracles could happen I'd LOVE to see YUI, the brilliant green/Tomoko Kawase (Tommy February/Heavenly), SNoW (I think she goes by Yukie now), or HY. Crazy choices probably, but a girl can dream lol
I would love to see:
SuG
The GazettE

I also forgot to add the KIDDIE and born. Both of those bands have a pretty good sound.
X Japan (Hey, I can dream can't I?)
Girugamesh (Girugamesh guy, your my hero!)
Maximum The Hormone (one word.. HeadBang)
Nightmare (Freakin awesome)
Anthem (J-Metal WOOOO!!!)
GALNERYUS (Like DragonForce that doesn't suck. And yes, DragonForce does suck.)
There are a BUNCH of awesome bands to choose from, but I think SuG would be the best idea.
Both LM.C and SuG have somes on REBORN! and now they're both in the same company too. Also, the bright look and appearances is a plus ^^
w-inds isn't a bad idea either, but I think more people prefer SuG more.

Jam Project did go to Otakon, I'll tell you right now though they're out of Fanime's budget. Jam Project is like 20 people to bring, and Otakon spent the majority of their entire guest budget only on them. Won't get into the details, but seriously, there's no way Fanime can afford them.
