Hey!  Last year (or it might have been the year before?)  there was a drag show at Fanime in one of the panels rooms, and it was really fun! I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about it coming back this year?  I think last time it wasn't on the schedule, but I found it because I just happened to walk by the room and there was a sign posted for it :)

I haven't seen Pop Team Epic but I'm gonna go with Pipimi cause she's funny looking, lol.

I've never organized a gathering before so if you guys would like to run it, please do!  My friend and I are cosplaying as eggplant emojis (LoL) so it's not really even a Dream Daddy cosplay, but we wanted to show up to a Dream Daddy gathering if there was one, haha :)

Just got the email with my priority booking window assignment,  Wednesday the 18th at 7am.  I'm guessing a lot of people have this same window, since I'm sure a lot of people did the same thing I did and registered as soon as registration went live?

Super last minute announcement AND they haven't even given price information have they?  Some people need to plan ahead for this kind of thing :(

I got in line around 10am on Friday morning and it took me just over an hour to get my badge.  Definitely not my longest wait for a fanime badge, not by far!  It was a little annoying though, considering the past 2 years there was little to no line at all :/

Also, a friend who picked up his badge on Thursday got in line around 6:30pm and said that it took him 4 hours to get his badge!  So I'm very glad I didn't pick up my badge on Thursday...

Westin (Stayed Thurs - Mon)

Overall very happy with the Westin!  This was my first year staying anywhere other than Hilton, so I was a little worried that my Fanime experience wouldn't be quite the same as I'm used to, but it all turned out great!

Pros:

• Convenient! Right across the street from Marriott, so even though it's technically not attached the the con, it's very accessible.
• Bed was HUGE and very comfy!  We had a king size bed, but it seemed bigger than the average king!
• I LOVED the shower, it had a big rainfall shower head that was sooo nice and also a smaller detachable shower head.
• The elevators were a dream compared to Hiltons!  I'm not sure if it's because the Westin only has 6 floors or if it's because it's not in the main con center, but we never had a line to get up or down the elevators!

Cons:

• Parking was crazy expensive!  They only had valet and it was $40 a night.  We ended up parking our car in the convention center garage for half the price!
• The AC unit was really loud for some reason!  But we had to have it on since it was so hot over the weekend.  Whenever it would switch on during the night, the noise would wake me up!

New e-mails ARE being sent out, the lack of communication up until this point is the real problem.  I'm glad this thread got people talking about this and helping each other out.

Yeah, I'm glad I check the forums.  It sucks for the majority of con attendees who don't check the forums and have no idea that this is happening.  I hope Fanime makes an official announcement soon so that people are aware they need to look out for an email with a barcode, otherwise a lot of people are going to show up without it and reg lines are gonna get really backed up with everyone needing to be looked up by name.

I just received my "Final Confirmation" emails.  I'm a group leader and they sent me a separate email for each person in my group ... so I'm not sure if that means I'll have to present each barcode separately when I go pick up the badges. 

I haven't gotten a new email with a barcode yet, but this is a facebook message that I just received from Fanime staff:

Hey i JUST got an email saying i was moved off the waitlist! I'm now in a 2 bed room at hilton xOX So even tho i missed those openings (wtf?) i still got off the waitlist and i'm a 12pm 25th slot

Hmm this raises more questions for me.  I was also a 12pm 25th slot, got on the waitlist right away, and yet the email that I got from from Fanime booking earlier today said I am still halfway down a waitlist of 470+ people.

Well, in any case, congrats! At least the waitlist is working out for someone!

Oh, I was refreshing wildly and suddenly... The Marriott was open! Switched it over in about two seconds, and now everything is exactly how I wanted it.

Seriously?  I'm happy for you and totally don't blame you for seizing the opportunity, but this is very unfair for people on the waitlist :(

I emailed fanime booking to ask why hotels are being made available via the website instead of going to people on the waitlist, and they responded with an email that basically said that I personally will not be getting through on the waitlist because of out 470 people I'm halfway down the list and blah blah, which doesn't answer my question at all.

So annoying!

EDIT:
I just called Fanime booking in hopes for a more direct response, but they also didn't know why rooms are going to the website instead of the waitlist.  They also told me that everything as far as they could tell in their system is unavailable, and that the deadline for all changes is 6pm tonight so things "don't look promising"  -_-

So is the waitlist a lie, or what?  Seems super unfair :(
