Sigh~ Such a long wait until Fanime 2012
I got so freakin' bored the other day, I wrote this song about it and did a music video for it.
Hope you like it!

Dir En Grey as a Music Fest Guest.
Yes Yes Yes, one of the very few musicians I actually know. I really need to pay more attention to our musical guests.

Sports as a theme, is more than just physical sports remember.

Anime like baka-test where the sport is education. Racing series, things like Pokemon(cock-fighter 2000), Yu-gi-oh are all sports.
Oh...duh *knocks her head* Yes definately, I didn't even think of that. Thanks for some of those examples. ^_^

I already cosplayed as Eevee last year, could be fun to twist that to a sports theme.

I understand the theme since they want it to go w/ the olympics, but I really can't think of any cosplay besides the obvious (prince of tennis etc...) that would go w/ it. The convention if just going to be overrun w/ Hetalia ppl again. Great cosplays and all, but after seeing your 15th Germany and 18th America its like...ugh. But hey, I'm open to this, probably will just go as my normal cosplays.

I thought it would be funny to do "slumber party" for 2013. I've already seen characters in PJ's. Just a thought.

Hotel Name: Crowne Plaza

Would You Book Next Year: only if the Marriot and Hilton are filled

Pros:
-WONDERFUL Staff! I mean really, best experience with Staff evah!!!
-Easy Elevator Rides
-Beautiful downstairs
-Very nice restaurant area

Cons:
-Note that I mentioned in Pros "Beautiful downstairs and nice restaurant," but didn't mention the rooms. The rooms and hallways of the hotel were actually very cheap looking. The door to our room (staying w/ my husband and our mutual guy friend) actually frightened us. It could be moved left to right as well as a little inwards when pushed. The only reason why I didn't put up a fuss, was because of the two hulking men I had at my disposal. The hallways felt, I don't know, cramped? Maybe it was just the color of the carpets versus the walls...? I don't know, it was just a preference issue for me. It actually made me kind of dizzy and I expected the twin girls from the Shining to show up and ask "come play w/ us". Once in the rooms a couple of things were broken. The bathroom had a fan that didn't work and the toilet was a little fussy (sometimes took two or three flushes for anything to go down.)

Special Notes to Share:
Again, nothing TOO over the top that turned me away. Honestly the only reason why I am changing hotels is because this year I had to walk across the street at night a few times to get to our hotel and it was FREEZING!

-But I also do not want to end this review without mentioning someone in particular. I already called the hotel and mentioned her. The bartender in the Crowne Plaza was AMAZING! I am not much of a drinker, but my husband and friend both drink socially and obviously that includes FANIME lol. She helped me pick through the large menu and found me a reasonably light on liquor drink. She was into anime and we all had a really great time discussing multiple animes with her. She even fit in well w/ "normies" there and we had a lot of fun introducing them to the "fandom."

So in conclusion, if both the Marriot and Hilton were to fill before I could book them for next year's fanime, I would stay here again.

Memorial Day is always observed on the last Monday in May.  (Technically speaking, Memorial Day is always May 30th but the holiday is observed on the last Monday of the month in order to create a 3-day weekend as per the Uniform Holidays Bill of 1968. Believe it or not, there are people who are quite upset about that.)

Anyway, that would make Fanime 2012 May 25th through the 28th.

Hope that helps!
Thank you very much! That was very informative  ;) no one is stealing my fanime! Haha

As for what's next:

Go back to work
Go back to school
Start planning bigger and better costumes ;D
Halloween
Plan 2 weddings (maid of honor for both :o)
Watch azu mango dio (spelling?) and other animes I should really know about lol
Try not to lose my mind in anticipation for fanime 2012

I'm going to try making some better friends and possibly group up with some more positive hearted folks for next year's Fanime.

Also, I was so ashamed of my cosplay this year. I really, REALLY want to go all out in the investment on getting a nearly perfect cosplay next year.

guess you can say next year my motivation is to bump up my cosplay quality
I feel ya. Let me tell u, the ppl u go w/ can make or break ur fanime experience. I used to go w/ a bunch of girlfriends of mine and honestly too much estrogen! If someone wasn't arguing with another in our group, they were throwing up bad food, wining about period cramps or being pissed that they didn't take the time and care I did on my costumes with their own. Srsly, choose very dependable ppl that won't stiff u for the hotel, food, gas or friendship during the con. The smaller the group, the better in my experience. And honestly stick with guys, no drama lol.

As for ur cosplays, who cares if they weren't ur best. By all means make better ones but the experience is the best part! ;)

I know this is rather early, but about 10 newbies at work found out about fanime and want to go. :-\ That's great, more the merrier, but more than 3 of them are in my unit and I am NOT missing it cuz they took dibs (when they don't even know what fanime is >:()lol. Memorial day weekend this year is all wonky (leap year or something?) so I wasn't sure if it started May 25th this year? please if anyone knows, shout it out!  :D

Update! Went to the eye doc and it was the right decision by far. I am wearing clear contact lenses (have been since last Friday) all the way up to receiving my yellow lenses and bringing them to my optometrist to check out before sticking them in my eyes. It is much easier to wear these things than I realized. Thank god!

DivineVTDragon I certainly didn't mean for my post to come off that way.  :-[ Yes I wish the process was cheaper, but I am certainly not going to destroy my eyes for a few saved $50's here or there. That's why I came here to get the opinions of others. As for my cosplay MeowDesu I think it is pretty great.  ;D I am very proud of how it came out and the only thing I had to make myself was the wig which was pretty hard. Took upwards of three late nights to make the white lines on the wig look juuuuuuust right. Adding another 2 days to dry and whalla.

I decided to keep the appointment with the optometrist, I wish I had heard about the costco idea before, but I think it's best for me to go to the optometrist that is most well known in our rinky dinky little town. Haha. Everyone at my workplace vouches for him and have even worn some of the cosmetic contact lenses through him and they are just like me, no need for corrective lenses.

Well thank you all for dropping a line. I am very happy with the opinions I received from you all. Who knows, maybe we'll bump into eachother at Fanime! Less than 60 days away now isn't it?! ^_^

So I was hoping this would be the best place to ask this question (since everywhere else on this peace o' crap internet there is nothing to find):

I am cosplaying as Death the Kid this coming Fanime and I was thinking about wearing yellow contact lenses as Death the Kid has yellow eyes. I have seen many cosplayers wearing yellow contact lenses as well as many others opting out on them. I think the cosplay has a little something extra with the contact lenses, but here is my problem. I am slightly concerned about wearing cosmetic contact lenses without really hearing some opinions on the matter. Asking my friends who actually wear corrective contact lenses say that it is too much work and causes itchy or sore eyes. I haven't found anyone who has said otherwise, but it is plainly obvious that there are people wearing these contact lenses at every con and halloween party I have ever gone to. So is there really a problem or is it just luck of the draw? I also dislike the idea of purchasing contact lenses from a con where an optomotrist is nowhere in sight to say whether or not the lenses you are purchasing will cause damage to your eye or even fit you right. I already made an appointment with an optomotrist in town to measure my eye, but it costs more than $150 dollars just to get your eyes measured and that doesn't even count the purchase of the contact lenses. SO in a nutshell, I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the matter before I shell out $150 bucks to hear an optomotrist go "oh ya those $30 dollar one's you buy at a convention would have actually worked for you so....neenuuuuuuur neeeeenuuuuur. Sucks for you, thanks for the mega bucks!"

shall we counter them with some devil horns?
*sigh* If only, but like all the other forums on the Fanime Protestors, its pointless and just fuels their fire. I believe the best medicine for them to to completely ignore them.  ;D

Well, the Westboro Baptist Church and the protestors at Fanime are not the same group. The WBC makes the protestors we've got look like well-balanced individuals expressing a slight discontent at the weather.

The guys we put up with are the typical "God is vengeful if you don't love/fear him" crowd, the WBC are the "God hates you, your mother, your father, your grandparents, your dog, everyone you ever knew or loved, and if something bad happens to you it's God's will because he hates everyone except us, and by the way, I hate you too, even though we've never met and I know nothing about you except for the fact that you're not us" crowd.
Nice summarization. ROFLMAO  :D

AMAZING IDEA! I was discussing this with my friends the other day. I would add more requests, but I have none, they have all been mentioned! I would definately use this room! ^_^

So, I am unfortunately ready to rip my hair out when it comes to this problem. I want to get a wig that is multi colored browns and blacks dreads that I could use for my steampunk cosplay, but I can't find one ANYWHERE! I figure, I will have to make one. Any ideas or tips?

This is the look I'm going for with my wig: Sorry about the size of the image, I couldn't find anything smaller.  :-[

Honestly there are no words to describe how sickening and just...ugh I AGAIN there are NO WORDS! SHE WAS 9! Freaking A! I used to think these a-holes were just stupid, but now they make stupid seem intelligent if that is even possible. Leave the child out of this! They chose to picket during the young girls funeral cuz they want their 15 seconds of fame screaming random bull that has NOTHING to do with this child's death. So God wants to kill children? Children too young to even do anything worth labeling as a sin? *throws her hands up in the air* I won't even laugh at these people if they show up at Fanime again. They don't even deserve a glance. I am so sickened.  >:(

I found the best part about their website is that they quote the 7th Commandment 'Thou Shall not Kill', right above there article on the shooting.
If your going to be haters at least don't contradict yourself on what you hate. =P

I would agree, but I have heard people talking to them and they approach them peacefully, but then the cult people just turn around and pretty much force the conversation into an arguement. A heated one at that.  ::) They prep eachother, they have heard every arguement. My father unfortunately did phone work at one of these people's homes once and they will actually fight you down to the "uh UH!" and "YAH uh!" level lol. I will admit though, I did rofl my ass off when I saw their car that says "Turn or burn."

Personally, I love Crowne Plaza to death. My group has been staying there for the past 3 years or so and we have never had an issue. The beds are comfy and the rooms are decently sized. The elevators are rarely if ever packed and noisy neighbors have always been a non-issue. The staff has always been very helpful and respectful, even when we are looking crazy in full cosplay. I would even go so far as to say that I like it much better than the Hilton (which is where I stayed my second Fanime).
Well that's a relief. ^_^ Do you happen to know if they charge for fridges? I heard from someone else that you can request one, but not if they charge you for it which would make sense.
Unfortunately, that I do not know (we have always just brought a cooler like you would when you're camping!). I would guess that you can request one and I have never heard of there being an extra cost. Your best bet would be to call them up and ask, because policies do change. Sorry I couldn't help and good luck! ^^;;

Called. Turns out they do provide them upon check in. Because the Fanime Housing phone number is down after 6pm, I called the actual Crown Plaza. The man on the phone couldn't really tel lme whether or not the fridge would cost me anything because he wasn't sure how the CMR Housing worked. Totally understandable. I'll just call again closer to fanime and if there is a problem, I will follow your example of bringing a cooler. I just wanted to bring bottled water cuz its so expensive. lol

Did anyone else stay at the Marriott last year and catch the party in one of the elevators? Just a group of people with a small stereo dancing and yelling whenever the door opened on a floor.

First time it was funny, fifth time.....not so much.
OMG I KNOW! I didn't even belong in that hotel! One of my friends was rooming in the Marriot and just the ONE time that I needed to use the elevator it went up and down so much with them in it that I walked up the stairs.  ::)
