Animazement is on the same weekend as Fanime and
yet, has announced a lot more guest  than Fanime.

I'm getting worried! : /
What's the deal Fanime?

I know. They got Kotoko D: Can't wait to see who Fanime has!

Well, that's a bit comforting. I hate the anticipation of not knowing, but that little update is helpful. I am hoping to see something by next week or the beginning of May. Either way, only about a month away. So excited!

Thanks, I just got the emails today. Crossing my fingers for the contest, though with as many submitted videos in the drama and action categories, I am not necessarily holding out hope. Hoping that I will at least have my videos exhibited. Any ideas as to when videos will be voted on and we'll know whether or not we've made it into the contest?

Aww man, there go my hopes of getting into the show. I think mine are pretty good, but I doubt they rank up with the top 5-7.

Out of curiosity, when do you guys plan to start notifying people about the AMV's they've submitted?

Quote from: Freeden on April 06, 2012, 03:07:29 AMI've also been very, very curious. The thing that puzzles me most is that Fanime would appear big enough to have nailed down at least a few guests a bit ahead of time. I'm not going to pretend to know the inner workings of Fanime, but, and I hate to compare to other cons, AX already has one musical guest lined up and AM2, which just started last year already has several guests listed. And both these cons come after Fanime. I think the biggest worry for me is that, when I don't see anything listed, it says trouble in getting guests to come. The musicfest is huge for me and with artists like LMC, Flow, and Yuya coming, I think expectations are a bit higher for who Fanime brings. So, when I don't see anyone listed, I worry that trouble is ahead. I don't know how things run, but I'd just like to know that I have some guests, specifically musicfest guests, to look forward to come Fanime. Topping Flow as a musical guest will be a difficult task, but I hope to be surprised.
Expectations are always high, regardless of who our previous guests are. ;)

Agreed, but the main point I was making was that Fanime has grown, and so have expectations. It's only been in the last several years that Fanime has been bringing huge musical acts. On top of this is the increase in attendance, which is also increasing year after year. It just seems slightly odd to me that Fanime wouldn't have booked any guests at all by now, and if they have, wouldn't have announced anyone.

I wish we could get some kind of announcement or update as to possible choices. I'm excited to find out whose coming this year. If they can swing Kalafina and/or Nirgilis, since I missed them at AX last year, that would be awesome. Nico Touches Walls too would be great. Or, by a long shot, Galneryus. I would LOVE seeing them in concert. Oh, and Angela. Always loved them and their live performance sounds as good as their recorded stuff.

Quick question: For my cosplay, I have a flintlock that I plan to bring. It's made of metal but completely non-functioning as it is not only a replica and incapable of firing but missing necessary parts that would allow it to fire anyway. It does have a functioning trigger, but beyond that it's completely useless as a firearm. Because of the nature of the gun, it being a flintlock, I am curious to know what the policy would be. Do I just need to get it peacebonded? Or will it be completely prohibited? I can't imagine anyone would possibly mistake it for a working gun, considering how it looks, but I am just not sure. Thanks.

Will stress again that I would really, really, really love to see School Food Punishment there. I love their music and seeing them live would be amazing. Please please please try and do this. I would love Fanime for eternity. Well, I do already, but still.......

Mary Elizabeth McGlynn <3<3<3 Would love to see her again.

School Food Punishment
NICO Touches Walls
Elisa

Any of these three would completely make my con.

I'd also enjoy seeing Scandal, Home Made Kazoku, or Nirgilis.

Nice review. I am glad that someone without much knowledge of anime could appreciate the con. It is a unique event and I think most people wouldn't understand. One the note of creepiness, while it may be creepy, there is also a celebrity aspect to it. Anime characters are well known for many different things, including behavior and actions. So, posing happens not just between older guys and younger girls, but between all fans and cosplayers. While taking a picture of a cosplayer as your favorite character, some people like to see them in familiar poses as their animated counterparts. It's kind of like posing an action figure and then taking a picture of it. It isn't really about the person behind the costume, so much as it is about the characters themselves. I hope that makes things seem a little less creepy for you.

Feeling it myself. It's nice to be surrounded by so many friends for such a long period of time. Hard going back to my quiet, normal life.
#55
Thanks, this helps a bunch.
#56
Got my costume today, yay. It's pretty good, looking forward to it.
#57
Let me add Katanagatari to the list (cause I don't think it's been added).
#58
Can you please, please, please show some fansubs of Michiko to Hatchin. That anime has not gotten enough love and it deserves more. It's one of the best series people have not seen and it has amazing pedigree behind it. It really does need more attention.

So, how about that Crows Zero 1 and 2 showing?

Also, Detroit Metal City, obviously, and Space Battleship Yamamoto would be a good one as well.  Also, if they can be nabbed, Takashi Miike's last year entries, 13 Assassins and the second Zebraman movie. These would also be great to watch.

Ohay, just found this. Since I am now going as Welkin, I will try to make this gathering. I guess it's better than what I was planning to do before, which was Pumpkin Scissors, since there seems to be no gathering for that. So, yay for VC fans.
