My girlfriend and I had the first day (January 18th) and first window (7 AM PST) to get a hotel room. Our plan was for her to call and I was going to try online. Whoever got the best reservation kept it and the other one would cancel.

I logged in to get a Marriott room with a king bed. I had everything set up until I realized I didn't have Thursday. I tried to go back and fix it but it kept shutting me out saying something about too many people. I eventually called the number and waited for about 30 minutes. When they got to me an incredibly nice guy said that my room had indeed been reserved. I was so relieved. My girlfriend was able to get the Fairmont. We have a rewards card with Marriott and have been in that hotel every year since 2004 so we decided to cancel the Fairmont.

It was pretty stressful but it all worked out. I had to get a separate Marriott reservation for some extra days because I am staying in San Jose from Thursday May 25 - Thursday June 1 for my yearly vacation.

I hope that someone was able to get off of a waiting list with our cancelled room. Good luck to all in getting a hotel.  :)

I got my hotel room at 9 AM PST (noon for me in Indiana) today. I was really impressed with how easy and fast it was to book a room. I had to call soon after because I didn't get the dates right but it was fixed quickly.  :D

I got a King bed room at Marriott for Thurs 26 - Sun. 29. We'll check into a king bed room - city view (awesome room btw) on the 29th and stay until June 2nd because I'm staying longer for my vacation.

To all those who still need to book their rooms: I believe the new system is very good, quick and fair. There aren't thousands of people flooding the system at once.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Has anyone got their hotel room or their room extended since the last day to cancel was on the 24?

I figured this week they'll start updating reservations. (I'm just guessing. I don't know if CMR works over the weekends.)

I'm wondering this too. I have the Fairmont (king bed) for Thursday through Tuesday but I want Marriott. We got on the waitlist the first day of hotel reservations. What hotel are you waiting on? I hope you get through the waitlist. We have less than a month now.

I come all the way from Indiana and have since 2003. It's really stressful not knowing if I'll get the hotel room I want much less a hotel room at all.  :-\ Don't much like the idea of being roomless during a vacation.

Here's some ideas. Everyone should check out Platina Jazz Anime Standards Vol. 1-4. They are amazing.

Gekkou by Momoiro Clover Z (Lyrics or instrumental)
Platinum from CCS by Platina Jazz Anime Standards Vol. 3
Orion Wo Nazoru from Tiger and Bunny by Platina Jazz Anime Standards Vol. 4
Tenshi no yubikiri from Kare Kano by Platina Jazz Anime Standards Vol. 3

I really hope that people start dropping their rooms soon so the waitlist starts doing what it needs to. I'm sure there were people who reserved like 5 or more rooms that they don't need. They're trying to sell them off to other con people. It's totally unfair but we all know it happens.

Please remember that the cancel date on hotel rooms you're not going to need is April 24th! Don't forget or you'll get charged!

This is a really cool idea and very sweet of you. I'm sure there will be lots of people interested in this.

I've never gone to a single guest event since I've been going to Fanime. I've been going since 2003. I guess I really don't care about guests but it's not why I go. I have only missed one year since 2003 and that was in 2011 and that was the year Tuxedo Kamen's Japanese voice actor was there. I was devastated. Luckily, my girlfriend got me his autograph.  ;D

I guess if there was someone really interesting for me I would totally go to their event. I'd love to see Kotono Mitsuishi but that's highly unlikely ever.

I feel bad for the fans that do like to meet guests at cons. I hope we have someone good this year for the fans and that information will be posted soon. It's almost April already.

I've been going since 2003. I missed year 2011 though which sucked. I've had a great time every year. It's my vacation each year. This year I'm going to be in San Jose (I'm from Indiana) from Thursday May 21 to Thursday May 28.

I'm looking at going as Princess Serenity for the Black and White ball. I can't wait to see the dealer's hall this year. I want to try and see some of the AMV's but it's a popular event so who knows.

Please PM me with your email. I will get you in connection with my boyfriend who has our room booked and has a lot more experience with CMR than I do. He can see what's possible if you are interested.

I sent you the PM. I hope we can get our room situations switched. Thank you so much.

I should mention also that our room is the guaranteed roll-away, which costs the same as a double-bedded (rather than the cheaper room with just the king bed). I don't know whether it's possible to say that you just don't want the roll-away or not?

I could take care of that. Do you know how a switch can be made? I am willing to do this.

I actually have a Marriott double bed room for May 22 - May 26. I am waiting for a Marriott King for May 22- May 28. What are your dates for?

Only 22-26th. I'm not sure if that'd help you since you need the extra days at the end which we don't have reserved, but it would be neat if it were possible to switch.

^_^ I would love to. How do we talk to CMR to make the switch though?

What is your waitlist request for? A different hotel or a different room at the Marriott?

A different room at the Marriott. My group would prefer a double bed, but it's looking less likely to happen, haha. I have a feeling double bedded rooms are the most popular.

Anybody with experience on this...can you let me know size and comfort of the rollaway beds at the Marriott? Would they fit two people, or are they built more for one person? I've got a king bedded room with guaranteed rollaway, but I'm trying to weigh my options for if my waitlist request goes through. Thanks for any input!

So.. I'm starting to think that my request for the Fairmont will not go through.. c_c;  Which saddens me greatly..

That said, for people who have stayed at the St Claire before.. How many people would you say could comfortably fit into a room?

I have a room with a room with a king sized bed, and I'm looking at having 4 people in the room ( including myself)

However, I got a response for my ad for roommates, and well if I take it.. I would have 5 people in the room.

I've read that the rooms at the St Claire are ridiculously small.   Would 5 people be pushing it?   Or could it still be comfortable with some work?

------

I wish I could help you out with the Fairmont room. I currently have the Fairmont (king bed) but wish for the Marriott (king bed). I hope someone drops their room and you get yours but it's getting real close to con time.

I've been saving since about January. I will have about $3,000 - $4,000. I'm coming in from Indiana so it's also my vacation. My partner and I are going to Great America, San Francisco, seeing movies and eating lots of Japanese food. I can't wait. I'm determined to make this a great Fanime.

Holy crap! I tip my hat to you! Have a great con! :D

Thanks. I'm a Veterinary assistant so I'm able to save up a bit more money than in years past. I hope you have a great Fanime too. ^_^

I've been saving since about January. I will have about $3,000 - $4,000. I'm hoping for some Sailor Moon stuff but I bet it won't be easy to find with the new anime coming out. I also like drinks, candy and the like. I really never find much that I need or want in the dealers room but I'm coming in from Indiana so it's also my vacation. My partner and I are going to Great America, San Francisco, seeing movies and eating lots of Japanese food. I can't wait. I'm determined to make this a great Fanime.

No longer on the wait list as of Friday April 18th

I got a Friday - Monday king bedded room at the Marriott

Was hoping for Hilton but I'm glad I got in either way

When were you put on the wait list? I'm hoping for a Marriott room (have a Fairmont right now) and I'm just wondering how long the list might be.

Fri: No Cosplay because we're going to Great America.
Sat: Elsa (Frozen)
Sat. night: Panda kigurumi
Sun: Princess Serenity (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon)
Mon: Undecided...maybe a kimono

My partner is sewing our cosplay. I wish I could sew and plan to learn in the future with her teaching me. ^^;
