Registration / Re: Fan Name Issue?
May 21, 2017, 11:53:11 AM
My boyfriend also had this issue, and he was able to fix it by taking the apostrophe out of his fan name.

Was anyone else able to reserve a second room by using a group member's registration ID? That's what I did last year, but for some reason, it keeps rejecting all my group members' IDs as "invalid". I'm freaking out now because I NEED a second room in the same hotel, but it looks like THAT'S not happening...

It's funny how they have Artist Gallery on the map even though that was canceled...

Quote from: Nina Star 9 on May 12, 2016, 07:15:54 PM(Also, off-topic but since it's on my mind after trying to navigate the website to look at the panels schedule: the website is nearly impossible to navigate on a Microsoft Surface. Nothing responds to a finger touch, only a stylus touch, and that's not how I usually browse. Not sure who to bring up this issue to, or if it's so niche it might be a non-issue for the majority of attendees. Not sure how the website responds to toher touchscreen devices.)

I have a Surface Pro 3, and I just tested the site on both my Surface and my iPhone. The navigation works fine on the iPhone, but not on the Surface, even if I resize the window smaller. It seems the developer made the classic mistake of assuming small screen = touch screen, even though with the proliferation of larger touch-screen devices, this is no longer the case.

Anyway, I doubt the web developer is reading this thread.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Hotels....
February 24, 2016, 12:29:55 PM
I think this is the first time ever that reserving hotels hasn't given me a headache.

Also, pro-tip: if you've already reserved your room but you want to get on the waitlist to change your dates, you can actually add yourself to the waitlist without going through CMR support. After you've made your reservation, go back to the "Make a Reservation" tab, change the dates to what you actually wanted, and there will be an orange "Waitlist" button next to the room type you had selected. Click that, and you'll be taken to a form where you can edit the nitty gritty details of your waitlist request.

If you've already closed the window and you want to go back, just do the "Modify Reservation" tab, enter your existing reservation details. On the next screen scroll all the way to the bottom and click "Make New Reservation", then follow the rest of the steps outlined above.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Tips for an ABSOLUTE Noob?

You can use either a debit card or credit card to reserve the room. Nothing will be charged when you reserve it. This card is just to hold the room.

When you check in, you will need to have the card you used to reserve the room, but you can choose to put the security deposit on a different card. I highly recommend putting the security deposit on a credit card, because if you use a debit card, it can put a hold on your funds for weeks.

At the end of your stay, when you get your room invoice and go to check out, you pay in cash at the front desk. Assuming there isn't any damage to the room, the security deposit/credit card hold will drop off within a week or two. If there is damage to the room, it will charge incidental fees to the credit card.

Should I be worried that I never received a confirmation email after paying for my group's badges?

According to Facebook, registration will be going live today at noon. Hotel reservations won't be going live yet, so it's just badges right now.

Big things like Registration and Hotels will definitely be announced ahead of time on all available channels, including Facebook and Twitter. Here's a couple examples of the kind of announcements they do: Registration, Housing

I recommend setting it up to get notified every time Fanime posts something just to be sure you don't miss anything.

Dance
- A friend of mine was working as a dealer, so his badge said something along the lines of "Toys Logic 8". He was not let into the dance because his badge didn't have his name on it. If that's the official policy, it should be communicated to dealers and their helpers that the badge they get from selling doesn't grant them as much access as an attendee badge.

I thought video rooms were unbadged? Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly but I remember my friend's mom hanging out in the video rooms for a while several years ago and she never had a badge.

I sold on Thursday and shopped on Friday. I'm so happy with the new venue, and I hope we get to use it again in the future. My only issue was that as a seller, I didn't have a lot of time to set up my space before shoppers started coming in, meaning I was still scrambling to set everything up while people were looking and asking about prices.

Okay so I'm registered for a space on Thursday, but my boyfriend wants to help sell in the space with me. I know I have to have him fill out the "secondary seller" part of the swap meet agreement, but does he have to fill out a second BOE-410-D? Or is it sufficient if I fill it out? We're selling from the same stock of merchandise if that helps.

EDIT: I'm confused. In this thread, it says that you don't have to fill out the BOE form if you're an occasional seller. But on the Swap Meet Reg site, it says "A copy of your seller's permit (if applicable) or BOE-410-D form declaring "occasional seller" status." So do I even need to fill it out?

I would wait for an official response, but in my experience, it will probably be fine. For example, one year my mom's name on her badge was "Bev" while her ID said "Beverly" and she didn't have any issues.

Call CMR, and if you have the reservation number, they can edit it for you.

Thursday is for prepaid pick up. So I would just buy him his pass online and pick it up with yours.

If he's under ten, I don't think you can get a child badge online. I think they'd have to go in the special registration line.

The waitlist may or may not come through. I had a similar issue at the same hotel, but I emailed and got on the waitlist the very next day. Today I finally got the email changing my reservation.

According to What Pumpkin's tumblr, they will have a booth at Fanime this year! Finally, I can throw money at them in person instead of over the internet.

Registration / Re: Hate to rant...but..

1. Pre-reg has been up since early November.
2. Pre-reg isn't ending, it's just going up a price tier to reward those who register early.
3. Pre-reg is always supposed to be up before January... It was a mistake/oversight/whatever that it went up so late in the past few years.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Suites????

All the rooms (including suites) have been booked throughout all the hotels around the convention center since the summer. It makes no sense that any suite can be booked before then because fanime has a contract with these hotels. So if fanime does not offer suites and the hotels display them as unavailable since forever, where are they? :-\

I don't know for sure, but the one block of housing we can't see is staff housing, so maybe all the suites are reserved for department heads or something. Like I said, I have no idea if this is actually the case, but it does logically make sense.
