[DC Cosplay Gathering 2018]

Greetings everybody, thought I would get a bit of an early jump of getting the gathering topic up.

2017 ended up a bit of unexpected outcomes. On my end, I had no clue that doing the makeup for Harley would take longer than expected which resulted in a missed opportunity. Outside of that and a few minor things, the other unexpected outcomes were on the positive with how the gathering went. Working off a written list/notepad+pen did make going through the order much better than in previous years. No clue yet if the "rotating system" returns in 2018 (internally feeling awful that I could not help out due to costume prep), but I do hope it can make a return. Additionally, I've been taking some considerations on a few major changes for 2018, those being...

Change of location (from "The Fallout Zone" to "Off-Site"): This came about when I was taking photos of a gathering on Friday over at the park area stairs near the San Jose Museum of Art and the Fairmont. Looking at the area, it would appear to be a nice backdrop for a gathering like this and with how the stairs are arranged, it would look to be large enough for a group our size.

Change of time (to an earlier time?): This was the other change that I started to think about. The time ranges for the gathering throughout the years have fluctuated through an afternoon range (as early as I believe 2pm to as late as I believe 4-5pm). For 2018, I'm wondering if aiming for an earlier time would be a better option? Earliest time I may consider for this could be 11am but the time could still remain around 2pm, so we will have to see what some think of this idea.

With the new year coming soon, you all know what comes with it.....

Fanime will be taking group pictures during the Gathering/Event this year. If you do not want to be included in those pictures please step aside for those photos. By remaining with the group when the pictures are being taken you give your consent to be photographed.

For all of the work that presented to the CGD, I really wanted to express my thanks to them for making all of this possible. The only small nitpick that I could think of was the equipment break down (megaphones becoming unavailable), but the CGD reps that was helping out at the gatherings were more than helpful to make our gatherings run without any sort of hitch. Speaking as the DC gathering organizer, I really appreciated the help and offer all my thanks to everyone in the CGD.
