Japan may be the home of such amazing things like Pokey, Miku and Gundam but it does have a dark side.
Join Panda Cubed as we take you on a journey to this dark side.  True some of us may laugh, some may cry and I'm sure someone may ask for the website but regardless you will not look at Japan the same way again.

this is an 18 plus panel.  there will be things in this panel that even I'm ashamed to research for this panel.

Location: Panels 2
Time: Saturday (May 26th) 10pm-11pm

Panels and Workshops / Anime - Let's Make a Deal
May 01, 2011, 10:37:47 PM

Time: 10 - 11am Monday
Location: Panels 2 Mariott Salon III

Are you tired of having to know endless amounts of trivia to win a prize that you won't remember winning next week?  Are you tired of seeing only a select few get to enter amazing contests while you get left in the audience?

Anime - Let's make a deal will be none of that.  Everyone who plays will win a prize!!!  some prizes are good... some... not so good.  We're going to go through as many people as we possibly can for the length of the panel.  You don't even need to know the difference between anime and manga to win a prize!!! how awesome is that!

cosplayers will get special consideration when picking who plays but due to the large amount of people who can enter if you don't have a costume you can still be picked to play.

But...let's try to keep it somewhat realistic ^^;;

So is it Utada or Ayumi this year??

Namie Amuro?  ;D

Actually, Namie isn't impossible to get. She'd take some work to get, but far from impossible.

I just wonder why you would want her...

Though... MAXX GOT BACK TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!! (I'd honestly be surprised if anyone on this forum outside of like 2 people actually listened to MAXX)

I know people's tastes differ but Naime started to become relavent again.  Her singles/CD's have been doing a lot better then she did during her Genius 2000 phase.

While I would love to see her I have a feeling a rock band that is less popular in Japan but would get the girls in a frenzy here would do a lot better for the con.  Which makes me very sad ;_; to say

i wanna see BoA the k-pop/j-pop singer
she's currently living in l.a. and promoting her u.s. album
she sang my favorite inuyasha song

Ok I'm going to go a little crazy with this idea I vote the Wonder Girls.  They are trying to break into the US and doing some shows on the East/West coast so it is a possibility

My other wishes is Pay Money for My Pain and Glory Hill

About the Boa comment  she is going to be a guest performer at Kollaboration in L.A. http://www.kollaboration.org/Tickets/Los-Angeles/Khype-Tickets.html  My guess is she may do one or two songs and that's it. So if  you really love BoA and live in the area there is your chance to see her up close.

I've heard from different people who rent hotel rooms at cons about their deposit nightmares.  If you take a few moments and plan ahead this should eliminate some of them.

Find out what the policy is about charging a debit/check card.  If they charge and it will be an issue because you did not want that charge taken out of your account beore or at the time you arrive I get money from your roomies ahead of time.  Put it in your bank account before you arrive at the con so your account with have that buffer.

@Kava :: I would, it's just that the more I wait, the less likely I have to get a good time.  And like bluechokobo said, the time can really make or break a panel.  We'll see, but I appreciate your input thus far :3.

@bluechokobo :: You run the Panadacubed panels, right?  I hear that your panels usually go over very well.  I will take all of that into consideration, as I'm seriously tempted to just go for it.

yep that is me.
That's good to hear, we try our best to entertain.  If we can do a Jrock panel again this year I have a couple of interesting surprises to play.  But for the Jpop panel, we found the best and most unexpected video ever.  Well at least I hope that's what people will think.

Traditionally, I believe that more FanimeCon attendees are interested in J-pop than in any kind of J-rock. However, there are definitely some who enjoy J-rock, and some who enjoy Vis-K.

When we do the Jpop and Jrock panels at different cons usually the Jrock panel gets more of a crowd but just recently the Jpop panel at Phoenix Comic Con (which has a large anime crowd) more poeple showed up for Jpop.

I believe a lot of things can influence the size of the crowd such as which day and time of day the panel is held.  An example would be holding a Jrock panel first thing on Friday would get less people then say Saturday at 5pm.  For the most part these music panels are not usually influenced by major events like AMV contest, Masq and guest panels so that helps mainintain a decent sized crowd.

I also think holding a couple different Jrock/Jpop panels can be a good thing because tastes differ and fans old and new can hopefully get something new out of each.

since there are I think more new fans then old and as strage as it may sound most of the newer fans might not even know about Ranma.  Would there be an interest for a History of Anime Panel?

hmm, point taken.

Still, i think the name should have some(if any) tell as to what said panel is about.

One thing I think that would drive the panel in one direction or another is do you make it all ages or over +18 only.  If you have it during the day all ages makes it a little safer but if you have this late night, people get rowdy, maybe they had a little something to drink and then things could get a little crazy.

Personally I could do both, I'd prefer doing an all ages one because it invites more people into the panel but I think an over 18 panel invites more honesty and it allows people to speak more frankly.   This is one reason why I say you could have multiple panels at a con.

When we did Anime BS at Anime Vegas it seemed very therapeutic to some of the people there.  you could tell they had a lot of stuff they wanted to get off their chest.
that name gives it a main topic point, with that being anime. my idea has no point holding it up to start with, no actual subject material.

You start the panel off with nothing, and work your way through the hour. it might end up being something epic; it might just blow up in your face and be completely bad. That is the risk you take(and its a fun one i might wanna take).

Who's with me?
[/quote]

Even though it had the name anime in the title people took it to topics about hollywood, what got you into fandom, things like that.  We've even been asked about people hooking up at cons.  I see your point at people may come in with a preconceived notion but personally I think regardless of the name if you held this type of panel every day at every con you'd come up with different and potentially WTF did they just say moments.  Of course there would be some overlaping of topics.  That's why we like doing it. we live for the WTF moments. :)

how about a panel with no actual topic holding it up? just start off with nothing and see where you end up after one hour.

in other words, you bullshit a panel all the way through.

OMG... I would SO love to be the host of this panel!!

May I call the panel "Mental Grab Bag" ?

I'm not kidding! I love this idea!

Seconded.
And "Your Anime Sucks" should return.

We love doing that panel and it's also on the list of panels we plan on submitting for 2009

We actually started doing a panel like that.  We call it Anime BS.   It kind of started by accident at Anime TucOn but we officially started it at Anime Vegas.  While Anime TucOn was all ages, Anime Vegas we turned it into an +18 panel just in case of language.

It was really fun at both cons and the topics that came up didn't even overlap at all.  Both cons also filled the room so I'm hoping it would also be popular at Fanime.

That is one of the panels that we planned on submitting for 2009.

FLOW!!!
Funny you say this. My friend recently IM'ed me and was like "Hey... so it turns out I'm friends with the manager of FLOW. I wonder if I should ask them to come to the US." Unfortunately said friend and Fanime don't really get along, so it wouldn't be Fanime she brings them to if I said she should.

Maximum the Hormone has lots of explicit lyrics, which could cause some problems with some parents. LOTS OF FUN FUN FUN PAPER WORK AND NOTICES!

Bands I would like... I'm going to see Jam Project at Otakon... I saw Momoi at AX, that leaves...

Bump of Chicken, and Radwimps. Oh I wouldn't mind seeing Back-On either...

Oh man Maximum the Hormone would SO TOTALLY ROCK.  Kind of nitchy but I would be so on top of that.
