when will we know if we got in? or if we were able to apply is that showing that we were within the first 45?

I'll be brining Kojiharu from AKB0048 to Fanime but I still don't know which day I'm wearing it...

The two minute mark for the song I want to sing for the first round is right after the second verse ends so it's not in the middle of singing, however it doesn't make a very satisfying ending (if that makes sense?)  would it be better to stop after the first chorus (which is a more satisfyng ending place) or keep singing for longer?

and is the time limit from the time that you start singing or the time the music starts playing? because for one of my songs it's absolutely perfect for the amount of singing time but I don't want to start the music right where I start singing because then i won't know when to start

Is the rule about not changing the background track at all still in effect (as in not lowering/raising it or making it short ect.)

(edit: never mind I just answered my own question haha)

Edit again because I have some more questions: is it ok to leave the somewhat long-ish introduction in if you have a dance/performing part to do to it? (I'm a theater person so I have the whole thing planned in my head haha) also if it's just a few seconds over the time limit is that ok? or will it be faded out to end exactly at the time limit? And will points be taken off if   for the first round it's only 1:30?

On Friday I was the Chicken Pinkie Pie
On Saturday I was one of the Condesces (Her Imperious Condescension, Fefcestor, ect.) I ran the Homestuck Panel on Saturday morning as well!
Also on Saturday I was Kyoko from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I ran the gathering for it!
On Sunday I was Utau from Shugo Chara with my friend as Black Lynx Ikuto and then I was the Condesce again for the Homestuck gathering and then I was Meenah (also from Homestuck) for the rest of the night!

Thankyou everyone who showed up for the gathering! I feel like there were like 3 other unofficial madoka gatherings as well, but I'm glad this one was still a success!

Thankyou everyone! I'm so glad everyone enjoyed it :)

For next year, I will work on making sure people crouch in the front, as well as possibly have some food and such for all of our pony friends!

I'd also like to thank the DJ's for being awesome, I didn't know you were coming and it was such a pleasant surprise, you added so much!

See you all next year! We will start planning soon :)

Who were the winners? I didn't get to find out ><

Do we need to be there the entire time while everyone else sings? I'd love to hear everyone, but I have a few other commitments ><

Also when will group 4 start performing? :)

I did receive the SR information for this gathering and like many of you I was concerned with the different locations, especially since Homestruck gatherings across the US have become quite the attraction and I think this gathering will be much larger than the 20 something cospeeps that have said they would attend.

I left a post here and on the C.c thread for shy cosplayer to contact me but have had no luck in receiving a reply. I offered a suggestion to her about having the official gathering at 4:13 @ FMS (which a 100+ cospeep gathering can handle) and then at 5 pm moving to the park (CCPFH - the one with the poo statue) to have games/ random photos/ etc.

There is only 3 days left before I close the Official List and I really would like to get this on there. Anything you guys can do to get a message to shy cosplayer I would appreciate it since she didn't list anyone else as assistants to this gathering.

Thank you
B

Your suggestion of meeting at the Marriott, then moving to the park for additional photos sounds great to me, personally. I was worried there would be no room for us with Kuroshitsuji happening at the same time, but it would be wonderful to meet there because it's an easy place to locate. If it lasts until 5 (which it probably would, knowing all the different group photos that will be wanted), we can then move the group to the park to make space for the next gathering. How does this sound to everyone?

Also, we need someone designated to signing us in before the gathering takes place. Since I'm not sure whether the thread leader here will be doing that or not, can we have a backup leader?

I could be a backup leader. I've hosted many gatherings so I know how it all works :)

I'll actually be there as Meenah!

Come to my homestuck panel at 10AM-12PM on Saturday to see fefcestor :3

I also have friends coming as WV, nepcestor, the sufferer and the subbjugulator

I feel kind of stupid for having to ask this, but since this is a Karaoke contest, do the lyrics need to be memorized?

I don't think so either.  The winners in the past years haven't even been in costume.  This isn't to say that costumes count against you, but I sincerely doubt they affect your score.  It would give an unfair advantage to those who have the money to buy costumes or the resources/skills to sew their own.

As for the dancing, it's completely up to you.  If you want to and it won't affect your singing (if you're not accustomed to dancing and singing at the same time, it can really mess up your breath support and make you sing less well), then I would say go ahead and do it!  Just don't stand there looking either a)bored or b)like a deer caught in the headlights.  Show your emotion and passion.  Most of all, have fun!

Nina Star 9: I hope to see you there!  If not, I plan to hang out at open mic quite a bit, so people who can't make the contest but still want to chat should try and find me there!

Sorry I haven't been very active in my own thread, guys.  I'm a student in graduate school and I am about a week away from finals.  I still have about 30 pages of research papers to write, a presentation of one of those research papers to prepare for, and an oral exam to prepare for.  The oral exam and one of those research papers are completely in French (I'm getting an MA in French language, woot!), so I will be extremely busy up until fanime.  My last test is on the 23rd of May, so if I am absent that's why.  I was absent before this for various reasons, one of which including a choir concert (we sang Borodin's Polovtsian dances, Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, and Mozart's Coronation Mass, all with full orchestra!  SOOO COOOL).

BTW, any of you guys choir nerds like me?  Let me know!

Also, I'm going to post a link to a song I recently  posted to youtube.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SKI5I2aRFw&list=UUFX0GrNLHb6w1qVE0tvThtw&index=1&feature=plcp  I realize my mixing isn't perfect by any means.  Please leave me comments on my youtube page or here!

If you post links to anything you've sung, I would be happy to comment!
If any of you have youtube pages, feel free to post links to them!

I have a few songs here: http://tindeck.com/users/marisuga
A lot of the stuff there is voice acting though... or really old haha. Anyways though, feel free to comment?

If our song for the first round is over 2:30, can we edit the backing track to be shorter or is that not allowed?

No, but if the song has a long intro, you may request us to start the song when the vocals start.

Are we allowed to use the TV size of a song?

Yes, highly encouraged.

The rules state that Jpop is accepted so would an official Japanese release of a Kpop song by the same artist be applicable?

Assuming it's in Japanese, yes.

ALSO: Regarding costumes, the question is answered in the judging guidelines portion of the rules.

I don't see anything about costumes in the judging guidelines... how am I missing this haha

Ok not to be rude, but should someone else take over this gathering as the original person hasn't been responding :/ I know they're capable but I just don't know where they are!

I already have my hands full so I'm not saying I want to take it over, but just wondering on others' thoughts...

What about costumes? do those play into your scores at all?
