these were usually mixed with birthday parties that happen to fall on meeting dates [usually at my place].
Next time daniel- we'll have to save you a slice of the pie/cake/cookies.

SO AWESOME. Join rovers Miss michi! ;)
Recruiting for next year already!? Yay! More people to play ninja with in the lounge!
clarification: 24 hours of work over 4 days yes? Do we get to pick our own schedule or are the noobies doomed to the graveyard shift?
random: what is the guy:girl ratio in the rover department? LOL haha
assuming that you absorb your Rover training well - and we also require - pre-requisites on things like customer service, speaking to random people in public and "sensitivity" training ....
we give even noobies as reasonable shifts as possible. - of course just like any line that starts at fanime... its first come first served sorta thing.
So contact rovers asap if your interested in joining. rovers at fanime dot com
and fyi on your gender ratio question: we are pretty balanced as any staff would be, just reality check - if your looking for something more than just friends ... these are not the droids your looking for... :P kthanks.
...how often to the rovers check their email?

for the time being i think most of the Rovers are on "vacation" as it were because although things are happening 'behind the curtain' with Fanime 2011 planning. Most of the rovers are probably dealing with personal lives and stuff.
I'll bug Steve to check the e-mail and get you the info your looking for. :)
I actually had been sending email to them for a while and I didnt receive anything. Looks like the meeting was way over now. R u guys still looking for more Rovers?

we're always happy to recruit new peoples -
we do have some requirements [like age: 18+ & some understanding of FanimeCon policy and etc]
but if you have any specific questions - you should e-mail rovers at fanime dot com.
we'll announce meetings once Rover meetings begin sometime in the semi near future.

again nothing "official" has been announced by fanime executive staff - though I have been bugging Steve and your e-mails HAVE BEEN READ--- we just have no official info yet about when meetings start or will start anytime soon.
again we may/may not have a possible meet and greet hang out of random rovers and maybe open the invite to potential rovers recruits but again the absolute earliest this might happen would be around... [checking old fanime e-mails regarding meetings] ... mid to LATE NOVEMBER...
so take it easy guys... you've got a good two months before anything 'official' begins to churn and change before you know it Fanime will be ramping up for epic proportions in May of 2011.
That's right... HYPE for Fanime 2011.
word.
Thx brain. I was about to ask. I will wait. Thank you for the info.
according to our recent internal e-mails Rovers are having a meeting the weekend of November 6th.
If you are interested in joining rovers please e-mail rovers to get more info.
Thanks.
I'm still deciding if I should go or not. It'll be quite a drive if I do though. (-_-)'

i think after we've established rules for "newbie" recruitment I would wait until you have an 'easier' ability to get into the bay area...
we'll decide how many minimum number of meetings/trainings are required to be on Rovers staff and go from there.
Just remember that if you are attending classes with the holidays coming up and midterms/exams/papers as we get closer to Fanime your weekends might be booked or needed for your studies. so plan ahead if at all possible.
Rover's (as well as Fanime general staff meetings) are usually AT LEAST about once a month with more meetings as we get closer to Fanime.
I just sent in an e-mail. now to wait and see.
I don't foresee any scheduling conflicts as my schedule tends to be fairly flexible.
.
I would highly recommend people to apply via our forums.

Current management from other departments may apply, but be warned, you get no special treatment.
I could not come to the November meeting but hopefully will be able to come January. I am sorry Steve, the link does not work? Or is it currently down? Thanks!

He is currently switching the forum software. (:
...and now it's it's back!

Although this link looks no different than the old one, it won't take you to an "oops" page.
Despite the fanime forums being on simple machines, it really is a piece of craptastic software... ::)
phpBB, vB, MyBB, or invisionboards ftw...
WOOT for Rovers :)!!!
I wish Rover team had like a social meeting gathering during the Holidays :D! Since I'll be in town (and I'm assuming a lot of other ppl will be as well?).
Now back to Finals Mode. :'(
I was wondering if the Rovers can still Cosplay. I heard their wear a bright yellow vest so can some of us wear that vest over our cosplay outfits? I'm considering working for fanime despite the fact I live in So Cal and will be driving my ass up there. If anything I'll fly my ass up there but it's expensive.

Our General rule about cosplay and being a Rover--- is that you must still be able to have the ability to do you job and be a functional part of the team --- so for when an emergency happens, your not causing a crowd to stall and take pictures of you --- while your trying to control a line or clear a path for a person who might need medical attention.
in other words --- we're OK with cosplay --- but try to avoid costumes that would draw too much attention to yourself...
of course as ironic as it is coming from the guy who cosplayed with a huge batch of balloons on his backpack...
but you get the idea. :)
and if you are interested in joining Rovers --- Please check out the Rover forums here:http://www.fanimerovers.com/forums/index.php
go to the "new applicants" thread and follow to directions to be considered part of the Fanime Rover Staff.
good luck.
I stand corrected See comment by Steve Below.
This year I think we're having a stricter rule on cosplaying while on Duty...that hasn't been 100% finalized, but I believe it is going into enforcement this year.
I'm finally on the rover staff! woohoo!
Rovers ftw.
Can those of us not on Rovers, but still on Staff also get pie?
NO.
After adequate testing in our wellness center, cake will be provided.
Mmmm....I want some pie.
Well we all want pie. But only get bagels at the staff meetings for BWBall.
-Kevin
Are we assimilating for next year yet?
