lol why would we bring drugs into something that doesn't relate with at all

Probably the reason anyone takes drugs > They make you feel good/better and can give you energy in the case if uppers. You can be assured that there are drugs all over Con. It is inescapable given the nature of the Con (and its 24h days).

No because people turned it into one and it started to get out of control (drinking included)...I've been going to them since 1999.  Why do you think glow sticks arent allowed

When did they implement that policy? I have not been to a Fanime 'Dance' for 2 or 3 years, but last I was there there was certainly people with at least electric glow sticks. I imparticulary remember the only issue with chemical glow sticks was that they could leak and cause a mess and werent allowed.

you have to be pretty naive if you think the majority of people who listen to electronic music and dance all night don't do drugs...

the no glowstick policy ....I dunno for a while now ...i seriously doubt Fanime was concerned with people spilling glow stick chemicals.

Well I remember specific rules where chemical glowsticks were banned at one point while electric ones were not. I dont remember the specific year, but chemical sticks sticks could not even be sold in the dealers hall or swap meet, but electric ones were widely available. I could be remembering though.

And hopefully these allergies that sprang up this year will subside a bit before con  :'(

Looks like we are going to have pretty perfect weather all weekend long in mid+ 70s. A little cloud cover a few days but nothing major.

That heat wave at the beginning of the week should hopefully not stick around. At most we might see some 80s.
Or these can be totally inaccurate.

(and this year Im pretty sure I didnt look at the wrong week!)

Saw a post on the unofficial fanime thread on FB on this, looks like a few people got reallocated do to overbooking. This happened a year or two back as well, but that time it was not nearly as close to convention day.

I myself am on my 10th or 11th year. Much too old.

Not my cup of tea but eh what can you do.

I may be wrong, but I am unaware of any lockers on sight.
Im guessing you are commuting in then? Do you have any friends getting a room that you can stash stuff in?
If not, I suppose you can bring a traveling bag, which if you are commuting in will also be valuable space for lugging around anything you might pick up at Con from swap meet or the dealers hall or such.

General Convention Discussion / Re: 2017 Theme

Are we limited to only cosplaying a cosplay from the theme?

Of course not!
Honestly I doubt most people ever even know there is a theme. Some people definitely do choose cosplay that match the theme, but more often then not the theme just boils down to what the art assets on badges and other con stuff will have.

Cosplay whatever you want  ;)

Well a big part of Fanime Tournaments and the Gaming room in general is the spectacle for the attendees to watch, no? Moving the PCs to a smaller room would mean less people can be in the room at one time, and of course the room is going to be a oven. I mean they could project the match someone to the main room I guess, but that is some unneeded complication.
Also last I checked they did not use dedicated PCs for the tournament, they were also used for general PC Gaming as well. They all need to be in the gaming hall.

As for splitting random teams and premade teams, at what point does one face the other, and at that point, besides the random team maybe having a chance to play more then one round or two, does the end result change?
The only way I can see it being fair to split those teams is to do a total split into two separate tournaments, that way one never faces the other and everything can be 'fair'. I dont think that is viable for fanime though, given they have a schedule where they need to run other tournaments. They could run where the randoms are in one bracket and the premades in the other I suppose, with the end result undoubtedly going to the premade side. In that case they could cut off the top final match and make 2 tournaments.
Still any of those kind of defeat the purpose of a tournament in my opinion, putting forth something akin to a handicap in some cases.

Of course I dont work in Gaming Staff and have no idea what there total resources and end goals for tournaments are, but this is my educated guess based on what I have seen at Gaming Hall over the years.

I know from a thread down in the gaming forum that TT Gamings page is still out of date, and from what I can glean from some of the pages that mention Ninja they also appear to be out of date.
Par for the course to have no detailed information on events before may when it comes to Fanime unfortunately.

Following up, the TT Gaming event page shows 3.5 D&D Fri-Sun at 6pm, so there's that.

Last year I ran a session of Maid RPG for a few hours.

Ive been thinking about doing it again, but I need to see if my group is down for it or not. Otherwise I dont have a problem with randoms joining.

I might also run a session of Valor RPG instead, because that game always deserves more exposure.

EDIT: Though I probably wont be able to schedule a time easily until I know the event schedule, and even then getting my group to do something at a certain time takes effort, so it would most likely be a spontaneous event sometime during slow hours.

Though if memory serves I do also remember they did have D&D events on schedule last year or a few years back, so that's always an option.
