Just found out I'll be at WonderCon, but only for Saturday. Anyone else going this year?
I'm planning on being there just for Saturday too. Was going to go to masquerade, but theres a chance I might be going to Video Games Live back over in Oakland so I'll probably leave the con early for that.
I'll be there saturday as well.
I'll be there Friday or Saturday, more likely Saturday since Friday they usually need me to open the bar. :P
its been mentioned several times in other threads.... bout time someone started a gatherings thread that IS NOT ME :D
I'll probably be there Saturday too. :P
if anyone wants to make an acquaintance of my awesome-ness, hit me up for my contact info.
its always an adventure when your out and about.
Are any of you interested in meeting up Saturday afternoon? I'm available after 1:30pm. It's my first WonderCon (and Fanime), so I'd love to pick the brains of any veterans who are available.
Feel free to PM me or post suggestions.
I'll hopefully be going on Saturday as well. We should have a BART party or something on the way there.
I`ll be there saturday and mybe sunday. The media and movie related panal is were I send most of the day and 2 or so hours walking the dealers room. Hope to get free movie swag.I`ll probley get up there on Bart between 9am-9:30.
Also going on Saturday and hopefully there will be no drama with the security letting people
in early with pro passes :P
Anybody gonna setup a meet time?
I'm stuck in panel until 12:30. That's why I want to meet in the afternoon. I'm supposed to get more info at work in the next few days.
I've never been to WonderCon and I don't see this year's program guide online yet. Would an afternoon meet-up be intruding on too many panels/signings/events?
Kinda strange that they haven't annouced anything more since the con is at the end of this month. I would say let's all meet up between 2:30-3:00 pm either in front of the Dealer's Room or the 1st floor where they have the hang out area with the over-view.
For people who couldn't find their website, here it is:

Would in front of the Dealer's Room be ok? I get lost easily and really need an easy landmark. And 2:30pm-3pm sounds perfect. Gives me time to find my bearings. Hope to meet some of you.

They should be working. My photobucket account still works. Well, I hope to see you there and I would like to meet your friend too :3 send me a pm when you can.
I'm down with anytime as a gathering, since I'll hopefully be there the whole day.
There is a cafe area with tables that is in front of the dealer's room, perhaps just meet there between 2:30-3pm.

Just trying to give you credit. ;D After all, the time/meet spot is kind of the most important thing! (especially since I've never been to WonderCon and am not that familiar with Moscone)
Anyways, I hope I get to meet some of you there and pick your brains on both cons: cafe area in front of the dealer's room, sometime between 2:30-3pm

I got my shift covered at work :D I'm there! sweet, see y'all on Saturday!
I saw in a newspaper ad for Wondercon yesterday that on saturday there will be appearances by Director Zack Snyder and cast member from Watchman, cast from the Terminator tv series, one or more special guest from the new Star Trek movie and director and cast from the Terminator movie Salvation. With all that and dealers hall and cosplay contest me will be having much fun.

Are we still meeting up around 2:30 in the cafe area?
Anyone want to wear something pretty significant to round people up, or something? :)

That's still the plan. But I don't know what I'm wearing yet. (Besides jeans, which won't help much for identification purposes)
Is anyone else going who knows what they'll be wearing that day and can help be a "beacon"?
my plans are still up in the air, but if i make it. I think its best to call me.
then again im your dime a dozen asian boy, and yet still ppl find me in some of the busy-est of locations. :P
then again its me. People apparently know who i am. :P

I'll have a red messenger bag with black and it's from Chobits. That can help out be a beacon of sorts or someone could make a sign too lol. I'll try to go on sunday as well, but now it's more like I'm going friday and saturday. I can't wait for the con. hehehe
I'll be there on Saturday, would love to hang out with y'all. Long time no see, everybody!

I'm still trying to decide if I should or give my ticket to someone. I really can't afford to do something like this right now (even if I don't buy anything, going out to the city costs money that I really don't have right now @.@;;;; )

I'll be at WonderCon on SUNDAY. Just look for the tall person with natural red hair in the pink dress ^_^
It was yesterday, I ended up going, but we spent a lot of the time looking for our chronically-missing friend, Josh T_T At one point my friend Kat hoisted me up on her shoulders so I could try calling across the crowds for him and someone from SFStation.com took our picture lol Hope to find that one.
anyway!
Sorry I didn't make it to the meet-up, but I honestly couldn't tell where the spot to meet was o.o;;;;; this was my first time at Wondercon.
Had a blast, pictures will be here (very few right now because I have to upload mine):

Went yesterday and forgot that the meetup was at 2:30 :P Was in the Star Trek panel at 2 which was a pain to find seats. A lot of people probably 20-22k in that day alone. I hope people were bying instead of looking, I ended up buying more t-shirts then alt comix this year!
i went to the gathering on saturday at about 2:45pm and i thought maybe i had gotten there just a tad too late. but instead.. i waited there for about 30 minutes and i duno... NO ONE SHOWED :'(
hmm maybe i was just standing there and there were people there but i couldn't tell who they were or whatever..
i ended up taking my nephew to monsterjam yesterday, thought about going today, but decided.. it was raining.
I was there today c: It was awesome, EG Dally talked to my sister on the phone as tommy pickles it was so cute c: and I also met Vyxin and Kristin from the amazing race x) they all complimented my friends and I we got asked for photos c: since my friend sarah and I were in Lolita and sarahs friend winny was a decogal. We did the free picture thing since the two guys there wanted the three of us to do it. We also passed out some tiny flyers for our friend winny's store called skinnywinny c: its a cute site check it
but duuude to see the voice actor who did fern from charolettes web (the cartoon version) was flipping amazing! sefdgd I nearly died meeting her and EG also the girl who did jimmy neutron *O*
(: I met Adam Baldwin from Chuck and got to see the cast at the Q+A, then saw a few other cast members from Sarah Connor Chronicles. I saw Vyxin and Kristin, but decided not to say anything.
Got an autograph from Adam, walked around. Then went to Haight St, ate tacos, walked around, came back home.
(: It was fun today.
Wow, I haven't logged back in the forums since last year. o_o
I just got back from WonderCon, but I don't plan on going anymore in the future.
Was it me or was this years WonderCon just too overwhelming? It just seemed like the hired security was overwhelmed as well or they are like that with every event at the Moscone..?
From what I saw last year, there were the same amount of Moscone staff. Not sure about the security, though...
But they had a lot more "famous people" this year than last. o:
Here are my pics from the con:
WonderCon 2009 Pictures (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v338/TifaFan666/WonderCon%202009/)/
Oh man, that con was amazing, fun and at the same time, tiring and overwhelming, but it was so worth it. I may go to this as part of my con season from now on, but I gotta agree with Lyricaldanichan, that there was too much stuff going on and it felt overwhelming. At least the masquerade ran about an hour and everything was neat and organized. and I hope that that next year, it moves from the Moscone Center south to at least a bigger part of the Moscone Con Center.
Anyway, I had fun seeing people and now onto either SFCBf or Tales of Anime if it happens this year. Good warmup for Fanime in general. I saw a lot of good costumes and the ones that won their major awards, specially the G.I Joe group, Godzilla and Predator cosplayers, their trophies are well deserved. I'll see ya guys later.
this is what i get for getting stuck at the SF4 [pwning noobs panel] then I ended up catching SF: legend of Chun Li movie...
Not a horrible movie, but thankfully not as lame as the Van Damme one even tho it has some terrible plot wholes.
and yah, theyre setting up for a lame[er?] sequel.
Hope the rest of you guys and ladies had fun at Wonder Con. I did.
and then I randomly went to Vegas on Sunday. :P
Go Figure.

Yea, about the Vegas trip....I would've gone, but I asked too many questions and ended up digging my own grave, so to speak. Maybe next time....
I had fun, bought some nice anime figures and shirt, saw some movie stars and directors. There were too many people there. It seems that this con keeps growing alot from year to year.I`ve coming to Wondercon since the early 90`s.Well thats 1 con down 3 or 4 to go for this year.
Ugh. Sorry about not making the meet-up time. I kept running into work-related people and got side tracked a few times until it was too late.
But did enjoy the convention. Though, trying to navigate the Exhibit Hall at lunch time was not a good idea! Best part was seeing the group of Teen Titans cross paths with Storm and Phoenix from X-Men. Wish I had a camera.
It was very crowded on Saturday. Does anyone know what they were giving out at the DC booth? By the time I got there, it was totally cleared out. I'm assuming it was something Watchmen related.
3 of my friends went during the weekend, they mainly wanted to go for the Watchmen panel and to buy comics.
Yeah a lot of cool watchman posters and buttons, I also seen them giving out those Wonder Woman headband. The Alien Trespass posters were awesome especially how the campy 50's look.

Yeah, we went to see that panel but it was filled WAY before they even started letting people in. "Con Nazi" was just telling people to turn around and go back downstairs (after the people at registration had told us to go up this way) so I walked up to the guy (the entire time him telling me to turn around XD ) and asked him "Is it full?"
"Yes, it is full, turn around."
"Then
say that, thank you."
He was an ass. T_T
sorry to hear u had a bad experience, with WonderCon being the baby version of Comic Con, expect lines for form anywhere between 2 to 4 hours BEFORE the event even starts.
Big draws last year at Comic Con - Heroes, Watchmen, Terminator Salvation, Kevin Smith and a few others, ppl CAMPED out the night before the day of the event.
THAT was hardcore. :P
Oh and another thing is my friends saw Mark Hamill!!! I would of killed to meet Mark Hamill!

No need for killing. Just $100. I heard that's what he was charging for autographs.
I was surprised there was no killing in the Watchmen line. I was picking up my pass at 9:30am and the Watchmen line was already insanely long. (And I don't think that panel was due to start until 11:30am)
Yeah my friends during the Watchmen panel said they were saving seats fo the "important" people or something like that and they sat in the far back in you strech out your arm and pinch your finger to the size of a...small pea, maybe smaller that's how big their heads were to them.
And for the $100 thing I would maybe MAYBE pay the money me being a huge Star Wars fan and all.
$100 for mark hammil?
really he was free at comic on. to meet and get autographs with... i think. ... weird. :P

Kerry Fisher (in the same booth) was $35.
I was on a "no spend" bind, though, so I got neither. I *did* score in getting a pathetic shot of Mark Hammil (but I GOT it!). I almost got a photo of Kerry Fisher too, but a guy leaning to the left stood straight again just as I snapped the shot. T.T;;; dang.
And Jerry, the trip itself wasn't bad :) I just left it feeling a little misanthropic by the end of the day with all the unattended childrens and ankle-destroying strollers around lol
I got Gigi Edgley's autograph! I really wanted to get David Franklin's too but he left by the time I got back from the ATM.
Also got the signature of the author of the new Farscape comic books!
Also checked out the Starship Smackdown on Sunday which was pretty fun.
All in all an awesome weekend!
Though there was someone who said my Death (from the Sandman) costume looked like it was from Sweeney Todd. I was confused.

yeah its tough getting those shots, at Comic Con celebrities KNOW theyre getting pictures taken so they purposely move around alot to purposely mess up photos unless u have a high speed lens :P
and NOT all kids attack your ankles... heres my awesome example:

and look its a sweet little girl. proving that not all troopers have to be boys.
and NO - i did not stalk her at all. okay maybe a little. :)
OH!
*THAT* is awesome!
Yeah I didn't see a whole lot of kids in costume at all, let alone seemingly voluntarily. See, that kid looks like she wanted to be there. My biggest problem with the kid-parade was that so many of them were crying and looked absolutely miserable. Their parents weren't happy because they wanted to look at stuff and the kids were fussy, the kids weren't happy because there was nothing for them to do and they were bored, and *I* wasn't happy because they brought their downer-syndrome to a place of Wonder (no pun intended lol).
It looked like very few parents were trying to include their kids, like show them stuff and introduce them to the world of comics, games, anime and more (it was more like "we can't afford a babysitter in this economy but we can afford to buy a whole bunch of swag T_T;; )
Bah.
I just kept thinking of the lady with 14 kids lol

the mayor of Quahog? nice. :D
another comment i have to make about wondercon this year was the fact that... i duno, besides it being too overwhelming, it also felt cramped up and unspacious. i had to bring my little sister and it was even difficult for her to walk around without being able to move her arms freely. i was so afraid of her getting stepped on too. it could have been because they moved the registration on the bottom floor and instead of using the whole entire space of that room for stuff they basically used only half. i was thinking that maybe when the peak hours of registration are over, they can reduce the space of all that empty stuff but i guess that could be too difficult.
hence that is why you take the little ones and place them on your shoulders
like thus:

I heard Adam West was there also.
$50 for West's autograph. So I heard.
Did anyone see the table in the Exhibit Hall selling the plushies of diseases? I was trying to remember the special they had. It was something like "buy all the STDs and get the .... free" (the plague free? cholera free?) Anyone remember?
It was if you bought all the STD's you got penicillin free c:

THANK YOU! I was describing the con to my co-worker and couldn't remember all the details of that table. And it was driving me crazy that I couldn't remember, so I ended up muttering stupid things all day like...
"What is it... malaria? anthrax? ebola? that doesn't make sense.... if you get gonorrhea...syphillis..." Needless to say, there were a few awkward moments that day.
I'm going to a baby shower tomorrow and am now regretting not buying the sperm and egg. :P
Been while when I last posted. It was worth volunteering and I'm gonna do it again next year! It pretty awesome sh*t!
