Hi everyone, thanks for your replies :)

My friend and I will have our Swap Meet booths on both Thursday and Friday of the convention. I will update the original post to reflect this information and other details -- you will be able to spot us by the quantity of boxes, binders, and playmats we will have laid out.

I need to buy 4 marsh flats, 3 arid mesas and 4 scalding tarns, as well as 3 goblin guides and some oblivion rings/paths. I can do a combination of cash + cards. Got any of that?

Hi! I will be sending you a PM shortly once I figure out if I can get you any of them by the convention date. If I find any of these cards, I will make an effort to set them aside for you (under Andy, I assume?) but I can't guarantee 100% if I will have all these cards by then. Feel free to keep in touch. Also, how much are you looking to pay?

but if you'd like, i can bring it anyway.

Absolutely :) Who knows, I might find something cool!

Hi,

Just so you guys know, my friend and I will be selling a lot of Magic: the Gathering cards this year at the Fanime Swap Meet. Additionally, we will be buying cards as well :) If you are looking to sell, don't hesitate to bring cards and let us take a look!

Details:
Our Swap Meet booth will be 'decorated' in Magic-related playmats and the like.
We will be at Fanime for both days of the Swap Meet (Thursday and Friday)
We will also be around Tabletop gaming to do trades and play some Magic
We take cash as well as Magic cards for payment, per our buylist prices (our buylist will be finalized soon).
Additionally, if I receive it by Wednesday afternoon, I will be able to take credit card payments courtesy of the Square iPhone/iPad App. No guarantees though -- it is already Tuesday and it still has not arrived.

We will have binders of singles, bargain boxes of cheap cards (4 for $1 foils, 2 for $1 cards, 1 for $1 cards) as well as a lot of fifty-card lots of cards strictly from Zendikar, Worldwake, and the new set Rise of the Eldrazi.

Please bring your Magic cards -- trade binders, old collections. We would love to take a look at what you have to offer and perhaps purchase or trade cards.

If you have any requests, don't hesitate to ask in this thread and I will see what I can find :) I can't guarantee anything but I will definitely try!

Okay guys, I'm at con right now. If you're looking to trade some Magic or buy some, I'll be at the Swap Meet tonight wearing a blue buttonup shirt (short sleeved) and a pair of ripped jeans :) I have repacks, singles, bulk cards, and Momir Basic binders. I have a few Alara Reborn packs as well left from drafting that I might sell too if you guys want. If you can't find me, contact me on Twitter. My username is @rkho and I will be checking it roughly every half hour or so. I'll also be looking to get some Magic cards for my collection and have a list of cards that I want!

Man, it feels strange trying to sell roughly 1/2 of my Magic cards. It seems like I'm quitting AGAIN -.-

Okay. If you're looking to trade me Magic throughout con or find me at the swap meet to deal some Magic, you can find my friend and I selling Magic at the swap meet tonight and tomorrow night. I'll be wearing a blue buttonup shirt with ripped jeans tonight at the swap meet. We'll have cardboard boxes to use as small stands for our product (and also to carry them) and probably will tape some Magic-related signs to them.

If you have Twitter, my username is @rkho

That is all. Let's play a lot of Magic and have fun this weekend! I would love to trade with all of you.

I dunno if I'll bring my deck this year. I haven't played for months. The last draft I did was one of Lorwyn, and I don't know how far behind I am... XD

I kinda dropped playing magic because one of the guys (relatively small network; small town) plays intensely to win; as in scouraging the internet for the best stratigies, learning to legaly abuse every card he can, memorize cards before they come out, anything to manipulate numbers to his chance. Soon most everyone was trying to keep up with him, and as a casual player, I just kinda fell out >>;

...Besides, weird pattern as it is, the more cards I collect the worse I do XD My strength is luck and improvision XDDD

So, what styles you guys play? I'm asking this as a friendly/curious question, not a 'I-need-every-advantage-I-can-get', lol. I usually stay confined to Green or Black (snakes or discarding FTW) or on occasion, insane multicolor decks (elementals). Like I said, luck XD

A lot of players play to win, and I'm one of them =P I've been attending PTQs for years now and have cashed in the money at certain events. I don't blame the guy for trying to gain a legitimate upper hand, but I hope he wasn't spending all that effort in a casual environment.

not sure if i should bring trade bait, i quit after shards came out. my vote goes for 1.5

Bring your trade bait. I'm looking to buy/trade for a lot of cards!

Quote from: Mizuki on May 20, 2009, 11:25:52 AM
Is Oath still 1.5?

Oath of Druids is banned in Legacy.

Quote from: Lordsnow on May 20, 2009, 11:41:51 AM
>.> I don't even know what 1.5 means.. I just play.

Type 1.5 = "Legacy" format. Entire card pool of the game minus cards that deal with ante, manual dexterity (flipping cards) and silver-bordered cards. Has a banlist.
Type 1 = "Vintage" format. Same as Legacy, but the banned cards are instead restricted to one in Vintage.

Legacy sounds favorable right now. We just need to get prize support down.

Lets do a sealed tourney or draft so everyone can play regardless of deck!

That requires having sealed product and agreeing on a price for said product and also prize distribution. Why would anyone want to play limited when it's Standard PTQ season?

My friend and I are looking to unload all our old Magic cards so expect a TON of Magic there. I'm talking thousands of cards from old and new sets (yes, we have plenty of Alara Reborn!) :) We'll also have a list of cards we're buying for either trade credit (to trade for what we have) or we can pay cash (but not too much of it, I'm broke! haha). So bring your Magic if you want!

Also, is anyone interested in volumes 1-28 of Rurouni Kenshin? If I don't have a guaranteed buyer by Wednesday morning I'm not bringing it to preserve space! =P

Believe me, we have TONS of binders of cards along with some repacked cards/tokens and whatnot. If you're even REMOTELY interested in Magic, you'll find something for you :D

I also have two fully crafted and painted Keyblades (Kingdom Hearts). Made out of wood. Full-size, not mini ones. Oblivion and Oathkeeper. If anyone is interested in THOSE, send me a PM. Same as Kenshin, they don't get packed with me if there are no guaranteed buyers! They're props and quite amazing in terms of the cutting and paint job.

I've got a question: If the opportunity arises, can my selling partner and I obtain two half spaces from two different sellers who are in line next to each other on Friday (and hence attempting to be bridged together) as long as there are a total of two sellers per space? =P Thanks for your time!
#11
We'll be demo-ing this LOTS all throughout the weekend :) I will, outside of "reserved" copies, have roughly five or more if random people are interested. Please contact me if you want me to save you one. Contact methods:

I check all of these on a more-than-daily basis.
Twitter - @rkho (please send direct message)
Email - [email protected] (please put MOMIR BASIC in the subject line)

Thanks!
#12
Ah, that's quite reassuring. I wouldn't mind waiting in line from the beginning of its formation on Friday =P
#13
I've been planning to pre-reg for Friday for the longest time, and then... I failed to do so :(

I'm panicking over the Friday slot, because I'm worried that it'll fill up and I won't be able to walk-in register.

For last year's swap meet, were people turned away? Do you think that any non-registered people have space for the Friday swap meet? I'm planning on doing it with a friend so we would most likely need a full space =/ half-spacing this doesn't seep feasible at the moment.

Momir Basic - THE Casual Magic: the Gathering Format
An Introduction

Hi guys. If you play Magic: the Gathering Online (MTGO, "MODO") you exactly know what Momir Basic is.

For everyone else, let me introduce you to the most fun casual Magic format there is. In fact, it doesn't even cost much to get into!

What is Momir Basic?
Momir Basic is a Vanguard format on Magic Online. What this means is that you and your opponent both use the "Momir Vig, Simic Visionary" Vanguard Avatar. A Vanguard Avatar on Magic Online gives you special rules for your game, and players can play with different avatars as they wish. Momir Basic just happens to be a very popular format where both players play with the same Momir Vig avatar plus a deck of nothing but sixty basic lands.

You start the game at 24 life (up from 20) and 7 cards in hand. The Momir Vig avatar gives you an ability you can play once per turn:

"{X}, Discard a card: Put a token into play as a copy of a random creature card with converted mana cost X. Play this ability only any time you could play a sorcery and only once each turn."

What this means is that you can pay X (any amount of mana you want) plus discard a card to have the game randomly select a creature card for you and you get to play it. You can do this once per turn, and only whenever you could play a Sorcery (which means only during your turn for the most part).

The standard rules of the game still apply, only in Momir Basic you're going to just be playing lands and using Momir Vig's ability to create creatures for you. The creatures you get are totally random, which means you could get something as great as Platinum Angel when you pay  7 for X or you could end up unlucky and get Phage the Untouchable (which means you automatically lose the game because of her ability when she comes into play).

Why is Momir Basic fun?
Easy: Because it only requires one thing to play on Magic Online, which is the Momir Vig avatar. At launch the avatar cost roughly seven dollars to purchase. These days, I think the total is about $20+ to play Momir Basic though I haven't actually checked myself.

If you have a Momir Vig avatar on Magic Online and sixty basic lands, you can play Momir Basic! It's that easy to pick up and go.

So why am I telling you this?
Because I'm making a physical version of Momir Basic. It was inspired by this post, though my version will look a bit different.

Here's an image of how my one-drops look like at the moment:

Essentially, everything is still the same from the online variant. Instead of having the game randomize a creature by throwing darts or something, we do it like this: You pay X, roll two six-sided die (one numbered, one with pips) and consult the guide for what creature you put into play. This gives a total of thirty-six possible creatures per converted mana cost. I've been tweaking the entire set over the last two months to make sure that the game isn't too broken or too boring, throwing in random whacky creatures along with powerful and weak ones as well. There will be blank laminated cards and a sharpie to write down your current creature which can be wiped off.

Even if you don't play Magic: the Gathering, all you need to play Momir Basic is just the playset I'm creating and you're all good to go! It's totally accessible to all players from all card games. I'll be demo-ing the product at Tabletop Gaming and also at the Swap Meet.

I'm almost done designing the entire thing, I just need to find a good place to print it out and everything. Once it's done, I'll see how many copies I can make (I'm laminating all the pages and such) and will bring a few extra ones to Fanime to sell/trade off at the Swap Meet. If you are interested in one, please PM me to reserve a copy. I do not currently have a price set for these, but it will definitely at least cover the cost of materials (paper, ink, laminating, binders, dice, marker, etc.). You're also welcome to trade Magic: the Gathering cards towards these.

Again, please PM me if you want to acquire a set of these. If I'm able to produce a good amount of them, I'll be bringing no more than perhaps ten of them unless I know for sure that a lot more people want some :)

Thanks for looking!

Buylist is updated, I apologize if this bump isn't allowed. Please PM me or shoot an email to sell some cards!

You're going to want to find out how your phone's menu navigates and basically transfer the files to your microSD (if they're not already on there). From there, it's just a matter of using a microSD to USB reader to take care of the rest. Shouldn't be too hard once you find out how your phone's OS works.

Faux Noise

If there was point system on the forums, you would lose 10 points for that.

How valuable would ten points be on the forum though? How would they be accumulated? I'd like to know before I give a reaction as to how terrible losing ten points would be =P

If it were like, one point per year then yes I'd be panicking :D
