Hello! I'm 1/3 of the hosts of STG 101.

So we had our panel on Friday as planned, and were able to fill a little under half of the seating capacity. We got a lot of positive feedback about the panel, especially on the montage of JohtoKen getting owned at various non-danmaku games, as well as having a couple members of the audience give Crimzon Clover a shot.

Unfortunately, we were not able to get someone to record the panel! :(

But anyways, thank you all to came out to the panel! We hope we got some of you into trying shmups, or at least piqued your curiosities!

To those who wanted to but couldn't, or want to see the panel again: We will be hosting a "lite" version of this panel at Kin-Yoobi Con in Hayward this coming August (http://gzronline.com/kinyoobicon2011.htm). Once we get a confirmed timeslot, I'll make an update in this post. If you have equipment for 1 hour of video recording, please record for us!

With that said, to those who did attend, what were your thoughts on our panel? Some questions you could answer:
- If you have not played shmups before, did we get you considering trying them out?
- What do you think we could've done to more effectively present our points? What did you think was outstanding?
- For those who are veterans at shmups, any details or games we should've covered? Any fact-checking we need to do? (I know we erroneously refered to DoDonPachi as the first game with a 2nd loop, for instance.)

So who couldn't get enough of Fanime '09's Cosplay Chess, or couldn't go? Who's up for another session of cosplay chess somewhere in the Bay Area?

However...this is going to take a lot of people. We need at least 34 people to be able to play (32 pieces and 2 players), unless you wanna use props to represent pieces not taken by people. Maybe we could find a giant chessboard (including pieces), then we won't need as many people.

So far, 6 people are interested.

If you were part of this year's Cosplay Chess, make yourself known here!

I was there on Saturday from 8 PM to 10-ish PM as Apollo Justice (shouting "GOTCHA!" on capturing someone else, "HOLD IT!" on checking king, and "OBJECTION!" on being threatened by another piece), then again on Sunday from 2 PM to 5:30-ish PM and from about 8 PM to 9:30 PM as some guy with a red shirt, black apron, and black pants.

If I recall correctly, one of the players who captured me on Saturday night was a princess with an R2-D2 plushie, and several of my rounds on Saturday had me teamed up with Naruto and Sakura cosplayers as king and queen respectively or at least 4 Prince Of Tennis cosplayers.

A lot of fun times, even if things got derailed once in a while. We must do this again next year. Or hell, we could do it at a park or something over the summer!

Who's down for a Bemani gathering next year?

If we do have one, I may bring back my A. Michel cosplay from this year for it, unless my friend wants to cosplay him too in which case I'll probably be Timer instead.

Gaming / Fanime 2009 TWEWY Mingle Mode check-in
May 25, 2009, 07:05:25 PM
So to everyone who used The World Ends With You's Mingle's mode for Fanime '09: what nickname(s) did you go under?

I was TsundeRay, and I was the one selling the Black Planet pin set. Kinda disappointed that no one I mingled with this year had a time attack time. :(

Gaming / The World Ends With You - Mingle mode

I've had my DS use Mingle all day and I just keep encountering ESP'ers left and right. At one point I even encountered 10 ESP'ers in a row.

Well, let's identify ourselves.

NAME: OLRmy-gs68
MESSAGE: Hey, La-Mulanites!

Gaming / DJMAX Portable 2

So who picked this game up at Fanime, or anywhere else for that matter?

I've been playing the hell out of this game lately (just unlocked 8B last night) and neglecting my poor DS.

Gaming / Any O2Jam players here?

Don't make me revive a half-year-old thread.

For those who are uninformed, it's an MMO rhythm game very similar to Beatmania IIDX, but with a different key layout.

I'm on as gs68REAL and at level 36.
