Actually most of us that live around san jose (or at least I'm able to drive) around and Felicity actually lives in Campbell.... heck, i'm always down to hang out because I have nothing else better to do ;)
Your welcome to go to any of the SJ gatherings (trust me we have plenty of them) and we have several groups that hang out outside of fanime.

road trip group
other random conventions group
trust me some ppl belong to one or more groups. *cough cough* :P

I'm actually going to be moving closer to SJSU at the end of this month, so I'll be living a bit closer to Campbell then I did with my parents.
I haven't been to any gatherings yet, but I'm personally trying to see if I can make it to a Jerry-con or two to start off right now, since I'm been to his house before in the past, I don't have to pester people for directions, and there's no risk of me getting lost because it's a familiar area for me.
I may start showing up at a No Name Anime showing as soon as I get the time. lol.

Yeah, well, Homestead doesn't even have a football field. We're next to a freeway and they won't let us put in lights. Our "home" games take place at our rival school. Instead we have like 4 Soccer/Baseball/Random fields.
BUT WE HAVE REAL GRASS. And that makes it ok.
I duno why. I like the turf.
