For those looking for a place to eat, if this hasn't been brought up yet... "La Victoria" is just a short way down San Carlos, and they make some great (and filling!) burritos for cheap. As well, footlongs at Subway are good opportunities for filling foods at a low price, though I'd put La Vic's ahead of Subway any day.

Even if you don't check out La Vic's, consider that the more filling (and nutritious, that's important!) your food choices are, the less you'll NEED to buy food in the interrim— or on Convention grounds, where prices skyrocket. If anything, junk foods and energy drinks cost more and do less for you (as much as I love my Red Bull...)

(Exception: Maid Cafe— I recommend going at least once. The food prices are convention-set— that is to say, high— but it's an experience worth having at least once.)

I was lurking and came across this and gave it a listen. Try Sidechaining. Doesn't sound like its doing it properly if you are. The tracks definitely need to be Mastered better. I have personally never been a fan of Cakewalk, their sound is almost that of FL-Studio. You have to tweak everything insanely just to get it to sound properly.. I strongly suggest Cubase, sound is really smooth even prior to throwing down some EQ. for Trancey synths for this Genre. I strongly suggest grabbing stuff from Re:Fx its a bit pricey. But worth it, I bought a copy of Vanguard quite awhile again. Still use it to this day. http://refx.com/?lang=en&page=home/latest As of late I have found Reason very fun for engineering synth sounds. =)
Duly noted. I have no idea what sidechaining is so perhaps I need to do it after all.
Which songs are you referring to, by the way? I've recently changed my setup to Logic Pro 8 and most of its contained VSTs. As for Mastering... I'm sort of learning as I go. P:

Hey all! Long time no post from me, I've been pretty busy with quite a few things. One of those is making a metric crudton of Eurobeat music that I can perform live on some plane or another. If you wanna hear it, I believe the website link (the li'l globe under my icon) is still very active.

I'm interested in doing a live Eurobeat show at Fanime, if that were possible at this point in time. The best part is, no hassling with Avex for licenses, it's a quick setup for me AND Fanime, and I have the material last as many/few songs as necessary for either the big stages or Stage Zero. (If my legitimacy is in question, I can only suggest looking at track 12, as I was the composer and singer for that track, so I encourage you buy the album as well :) .)

tl;dr: Where would I send what info to see if this were possible on any level?

I HATE DDRX!!  I would love to see DDR Extreme again!
THIS. Any mix past DDR Extreme no longer has Dancemania licenses (read: the songs that made the game worth playing up until SN), and is hardly any good/fun. Now, granted, there will be players who will vie for the latest and "greatest" version to come up and I'll respect that, but... new mixes just ain't as fun as the oldies and goodies.

Incredible Stuff I can Make / Re: What can I sell at Fanime?
« on: January 03, 2010, 01:20:19 AM »
I can't tell you Fanime policy but I can give you hints at what Copyright law would suggest:
If the characters are truly your own (I.E, distinguishably and sufficiently different 'enough' from the original) or are used for the sake of parody (in a way that can be easily discerned... as in, you can 'tell' it's a parody), then the sale is not illegal. Those aside, if someone can say, for instance, "Hey, isn't this Wing Gundam Zero?", chances are good the legal water you're standing in may possibly warm a bit.

UPDATE! I'm on an album!
Right now it's currently on Amazon.com under this link (http://bit.ly/6hsQGN), and the entire album is fantastic! I wrote/composed and sang on two songs, Nitro and I'm Gonna Get You, and the rest are either Magic Hammer's own creations or remixes (mostly original works). If you like Eurobeat, Metal, or tearing things apart using only your teeth, you will LOVE this album.

And, to answer you, Ghost Tree... it's hard to say, given that all the labels actually use VERY slight variations off the same sound principle (though Go Go's Music uses something more hit-based, SAIFAM doesn't always use synth brass, and Hi-NRG Attack has used non-synth instruments like trumpets and accordions). The answer I've got from big-name Eurobeat producers!!! all resounds: Layers. Pick a sound that comes close, use that. Then do the same line with another sound that's pretty close. Then another sound. Then another, until you've got enough layers and it sounds nice. Change up the volumes of each sound to your taste.
Alternatively, if you're using a Mac-based setup (Logic Studio and/or Garageband), I have a blog on which I actually discuss how to get Eurobeat arrangements running in no time. Check it out: http://eurobeat-blog.com

Oh wow wow WOW it's been a long time since I've posted here. I am, in fact, still alive and well, and making Eurobeat much more frequently. They're still on the same page (www.myspace.com/travisodyssey), but I think you'll notice an improvement in the new bunch. Please give a listen and let me know. :)

Y'know what... at the VERY least I'm confirmed for Sunday.
Current avatar, background something tasteful from Ranma ½.
Let's do this~

This presents a dilemma... I'm the guy that's always done the Eurobeat/Initial D stuff. The songs weren't made JUST for Initial D (with a few exceptions), and they're in English, but... they're still considered integral to the original Initial D experience (I'm gleefully forcing the Tokyopop failure-at-life rap soundtrack out of the picture here, only Eurobeat). They're widely considered THE "Initial D Soundtrack".

Does this still qualify? I'm considering singing songs from Niko and Dave Rodgers for my entries.

In the event that I can make it, please use my current avi and a nice picture from Ranma ½ or Otoboku.
