Quote from: "Rapture7thHomunculi"Please. Any guys thinking of bringing Axe....And using it...For the sake of the girls like me....Don't. Please. Axe or Old Spice, there's gotta be something else. And while I'm sure there were worst cases than last year, when I was there, it was annoying. I couldn't breath through my nose. Whatever idiot decided to put out those Axe commercials where the girls attacked whatever guy had it on him was an idiot because that stuff is HORRID. I'm just asking. Mainly so that my allergies don't flair up and so people don't look at me weird as I breath with my mouth.

Old spice and/or Axe (of ANY kind) = Death level 1

Axe/OS + trying to cover horrid BO = Death level 2

Cramped in Music Fest or an elevator with any of the above equations = Free Get into Heaven ticket from Death level 666. Seriously.

Then again you could just shower once in the morning and at night and it won't matter. Something quick. Soap required.  From the not Stereotypical fangirl: thank you.

This has been said in so many ways so many times over the past few months (particularly with the No to Axe sentiments) that it ought to be plastered into the Fanime booklet.  I remember at least once there being a section on "PLZ TAKE A BATHKTHX" but, uh, it'd actually be helpful to add this! And funny! ...And sadly true! X_X

After reading the first line and a half, I heard the rest of the whole damn thing being spoken by Jeff Foxworthy...

And that's pretty damn funny.  Good list, too.

Registration / 2006 Early Registration Badges
May 15, 2006, 12:38:40 PM
Not laminated...  hmmmm... I'm pretty sure they were laminated last year.  I think.  I've never had one, but someone I know did.  Well, I know they don't just throw a slab of paper at you, because it could so easily be damaged or destroyed.  Might just be in a little plastic shield or something.

But, regardless, I think that's the only real difference.  The pre-reg badges are, as they say, 'spiffier'... little images and stuff, and the early reg ones are often B&W.

Hotel and Facilities / Elevators and escalators

As so many Mitch fans say:  I used to love Mitch.  I still do, but I used to too.  (Based off of one of his jokes)

Hotel and Facilities / Parking?
May 13, 2006, 07:39:20 PM
I don't think there's a choice as to whether you have in/out privilages or not.   I think you just do, and it's a flat fee.

I presume that'll be fine...  Why?  Is there concern that people'll start posting in this thread about their con hotel experience for 06?

Hotel and Facilities / Elevators and escalators

I found out about Mitch a year or two before his death.. something like that.  I was really depressed, because I had the opportunity to go to one of his shows when he was here, but I didn't go - figured I'd have another chance in the next year or whatever- and then he died.  Ahh!  I wish I could've seen him live! :(

Quote from: "jinnai_animexcalibur"I won't be at Fanime this year...my sister's birthday falls on that same weekend.

HOWEVER, you can find me at Anime Expo...you might get a present if you find me ^_^

Aww. But, that's an HONORABLE THING TO DO!

Now I want to go to Anime Expo... but the odds of that are next to nothing.  :P

General Convention Discussion / Is it True?

*_*  I love the gossip.  It makes Fanime feel like some deranged family or long-time soap opera.

General Convention Discussion / Is it True?
May 10, 2006, 09:01:35 PM
Well, that was partially why I asked; I don't know what the exact numbers are on the growth factor for Fanime, but we're talking about four more years after this convention at that center at the least... Just wondering if, as mentioned jokingly, if there'll really be enough con space/hotel space if the number continues to rise for the next few years.  Hm.

SF would have its ups and downs, IMO, but it could be pretty chaotic in regards to housing... Hotels are pretty outrageously expensive in SF, I wonder if the con would be able to get the same approximate low rates for attendees?

QuoteI already miss Deiter ;-;

I was dissappointed that he wouldnt be hosting the first ever Masquerade that I would actually be partaking in....

NO DIETER?!     ...nooooo... But Dieter's so awesome...  He's the reason I keep going to the Der Cosplay... which I guess will now just be known as the Masquerade again...

Quote from: "YoureMyHiro"I dont know if this has been state yet but can we expect a Jinnai or 8-Ball return this year? Their sets are usually off the chain.

I second this query!  Jinnai's set was awesome last year...

2010... well, that's good to know.  If Fanime did move, I wonder where it'd go... the SJ con center is so massive, are there any locally that are actually any bigger?

No Dieter...?

Hotel and Facilities / Elevators and escalators

Quote from: "Suspicious"It is by the same mysterious force that empties all the ATMs before the con even starts.  Oh! and causes Starbucks to close early.

Hahaha, exactly, exactly.  Maybe they think we congoers will raid the ATMs, then the starbucks, then use the escalators/elevators to make our escape.  Change of sequence acceptable.

QuoteOh, and escalators can't break, they can only become stairs.

YOU KNOW MITCH HEDBERG!! OMG! :D :D :D Rock on!!

Hotel and Facilities / Parking?
May 09, 2006, 01:54:11 PM
I know from experience that the Hilton has free in/out privilages.  Don't know the exact price, but they have both regular do it yourself and valet parking, with different prices for each.  18 seems to come to mind, for some reason.

Hotel and Facilities / Parking?

I've heard mutterings that it's better to do hotel parking even though it's more expensive if you have any intention of taking your car out at any time.  If only because the con center doesn't have in/out privilege, and the hotels do.

Like theotakuapprentice said, they have some good directions on the site.  http://transit.511.org/tripplanner is a GREAT service.  Gives you directions down to how far you have to walk, and whether you want to take busses or not.

Quote from: "Vanessa"What is Early Reg? ..

From http://www.fanime.com/registration/...

QuoteWelcome to FanimeCon Registration! Pre-registration has ended, but Early Registration is offered for those who couldn't make it. You don't get the spiffy badge or the discounts, but with early reg you can at least pick up your badge earlier!

Registration / Help, please
May 02, 2006, 12:23:04 AM
Erm...  I'm not with the registration team, so obviously you'll want more word than what I've got to say, but last year a friend of mine paid by check and the site didn't list them as having paid/added to the registration list until about a month later.  It'll probably be faster now that everything's going high-speed, but a week is probably a bit too much to ask, especially because there's probably a flood of people trying to register before it's too late.  Chances are your check arrived safely and just hasn't been noted yet or something.  Good luck!

Thanks again, PTB.  Quite right; I'll be printing out a copy or two just to be safe. :)
