Hello everyone! It's time for a feedback thread!!!

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for our great success this year! Thank you to all my hard-working, enthusiastic, devoted, wonderful wonderful maids, my AWESOME fellow maid cafe staff, and everyone who put so many days (and restless nights) of hard work to make it possible, staff, the awesome rovers who helped us, everyone from Extravaganzas, and fans for all their hard work and support. Thank you so much!

I assure you all that these maids have put in A LOT of hard work, and we hope to see you all again next year! All of our fans, have been wonderful and supportive, and make me feel truly honored to have run the cafe this year. It truly brings me to tears.

And to quote one of our maids, Mei-chan, "I've never been so malnutritioned, busy, yet had so much fun all at the same time. ww Jokes aside, 乙!"

There was never a moment that the cafe was NOT at full capacity. Fanimaid☆LIVE @ Stage Zero had the biggest crowd for a Stage Zero event in Fanime history! We've received so much positive feedback. We have had special guests, overseas fans, many returning customers and supporters, flooded with press, and board members who have claimed Fanimaid Cafe to be THE BEST maid cafe in any American convention. I've had so many people approach me just to thank us for such the huge success.

Also, thank you for all the support, gifts, and water donated from the Rovers! Never have I ever experienced such an amazing part of fandom.

Holy crap. I mean, I know geeks stereotypically lack fashion-sense, but I see plenty of fans that look lime normalfags day by day. This guy is exceptionally creepy. lol

But yes, has this sort of thing happened before? I may be out of the loop, but I've never seen a dubbing company actually take the time to intervene with a large torrent site like Tokyo Toshokan before. I normally see subbers stop distributing stuff on their own for their own sake of integrity. Weird.

I wonder if FUNimation has done this for other series they've licensed. Shikabane Hime Aka was an okay series, and I was growing to like it towards the 3rd episode or so. Hm.

Greetings, maids!

In three weeks, FanimeCon is hosting their very own maid cafe at San Jose Japantown's annual Spirit of Japantown Festival and we're in need of volunteers! Your job is to play the role of a cute maid to properly greet and serve your patrons food and drinks and interacting with them directly. This includes having direct, short conversations with them and making them feel comfortable. You may also do simple and fun activities like playing short games, folding origami, and if you have artistic talent, you can doodle a picture for them on their coaster to keep! Our goal is to offer a memorable experience to attendees of the festival with the maid cafe.

It is also your duty to pay attention to detail. Greeting your patrons properly is important. You will learn how and when to bow at the right times, what to say to greet your patrons as they enter and leave, and how to play your role as a cute and adorable maid serving them!

Where: Japantown, San Jose, CA (Directions)

I won't quote, because this is a pretty long article. It's just utterly unbelievable how a child could develop to be in such a condition. I mean, negligence can only go so far. Age 7, 46lbs., can't speak, can't express herself at all, can't react, and the idea of human interaction is unfathomable to her. A feral child. Read it for yourself, because there's really no way to describe it in whole as effectively as just reading the whole damn thing.

And the mother responsible for all of this is only sentenced 2 years of house arrest and probation, and 100 hours of community service. I admit that many people on the internet tend to be apathetic about events like this, but never have I ever been this disgusted at a human being impersonally, especially when the mother had said, "I'm trying my best!" She undoubtedly must've been mentally retarded solely by the fact that she felt wronged for having her daughter taken away. (IQ of 77, go figure.)

On the bright side, though, this girl was lucky to have found a decent home, a loving family, and progressed more than anyone had hoped for. She even carries around a stuffed glow-worm to keep her company. Too bad the other kid has to sleep in the laundry room. lulz. :U

User-generated "MAD videos" with certain copyrighted materials to be affected

Niwango's Nico Nico Douga video-sharing website has announced on Wednesday that it will delete videos that infringe on the copyrights of three Japanese associations of video content companies, in accordance to these associations' demands. Nico Nico Douga already deletes materials that copy the associations' materials in their entirety, such as full-length live-action and anime television episodes, so this move will mainly affect user-generated videos that include materials derived from these associations' copyrighted content. The three associations are the Association of Japanese Animations, Japan Video Software Association, and the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan.

Specifically, Nico Nico Douga will delete videos that were already submitted by users if they infringe on the copyrights of these three associations' member companies. The service will also inspect new video submissions and "swiftly" delete infringing videos. MAD videos, the Japanese term for user-generated content that incorporates pre-existing audio, images, video, or animation, are highlighted in particular.

The Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan is part of the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) umbrella group of 24 companies and associations that is pushing to outlaw the downloading of copyrighted material for personal use, which is currently legal in Japan. The Association of Japanese Animations and Japan Video Software Association joined the Copyright Network for Comic Authors in the 21st Century and the Tokyo Anime Center in posting a notice against Internet piracy and "fan-subtitle" at the Tokyo International Anime Fair in March. A few days earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan held a symposium with companies involved in these organizations to discuss overseas piracy of Japanese animation, intellectual property enforcement, and other topics.

The Association of Japanese Animations includes 34 full members and 22 associate members. The full members include Aniplex, Gainax, Gonzo, Satelight, Sunrise, Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, GENCO, Studio Ghibli, Tatsunoko Production, Tezuka Productions, Toei Animation, TOHO, TMS Entertainment, Bandai Visual, Pierrot, Production I.G. and BONES.

As of May of 2008, the Japan Video Software Association's 35 member companies include Aniplex, Walt Disney Japan, Avex Marketing, Kadokawa Group Holdings' Kadokawa Entertainment and Kadokawa Shoten, GAGA Communications, Geneon Entertainment, Shogakukan, Toei Video, TOHO, Nikkatsu, VAP, Bandai Visual, Victor Entertainment, Pony Canyon, and Media Factory. It also has 24 associate members. The Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan consists of four motion picture distributors: Shochiku, TOHO, Toei, and Kadokawa Pictures.

One of the companies in these associations, Kadokawa Group Holdings, is allowing some user-generated content with its copyrighted materials to remain on YouTube, another video-sharing site. In this new arrangement, Kadokawa and YouTube will share ad profits with the submitters.

Well, this f*cking sucks. I can deal with the normal copyright infringement crap, but take away FAN-MADE VIDEOS? This is the most utterly stupid move I've ever seen. Say sayonara to fans of your industry. gg. -_-

Last year outright SUCKED, and we all know it. But that changed, this year. We might've not had gotten as big of a crazy crowd as we did last year, but almost everyone that had come was pleased with the wonderful service the maids had brought this year. I feel especially proud, having done the maid-behavioral training. Thanks for all who managed to organize it, even if things turned out to be last minute. 20 volunteers dropped out at the last minute from the lack of good timing, but we did well regardless. You all worked really hard.

So what changed this year? For one, BIGGER SPACE, nicer decor, and maids actually got to play the role of being maids instead of just waitresses in cute uniforms. We also had leeway for time, so people could sit and relax, and the maids can provide their patrons company by playing games and having conversations. Thanks to all the customers who had so much fun with us, and those who took the effort to give us so many fabulous gifts.

I even got to talk to a couple of press members, starting with, "Let's be honest. Last year was terrible." and ended with "But this year is awesome. Expect a good review."

So, what did you think? What should be improve on NEXT year? For one, we need more time to prepare things up closer to near-perfection. We WILL do it, so be sure to come visit us next year! Thank you.

Hey guys. I'm not exactly how to go about this but... this Fanime as both the worst, the best and most heartfelt year, for Pyron and me. So many things had gone wrong, in both our work, being overworked, people showing up late or not at all, the panel crashing and burning, spraining my leg, stalkers, and a plethora of just terrible things. It's no one's fault. Bad things just wanted to happen. But from that, there was a lot of crying, a lot of bonding, and a lot of proof as to who cares.

But one thing that really matters is that the people around us were there to make it worth-while. I met up with a lot of you guys and I could honestly say that I owe my happiness to a good handful of you guys, and our friends. I never got to properly thank anyone before we left. My day was brightened on multiple occasions, daily. In the thousands of people, there are always those who are great, namely Makou, Kazuko, Loktera, Edendreams, Mizuki, Chun, and a bunch of others. Thanks. No matter how bad things get, it's always great to know that you have sweet friends.

And Pyron. I don't even know what to say to you, but I can honestly say that I love you more than ever. And even if you don't show it, you're possibly one of the nicest, most selfless person I know. Like Jason had said, while you're pretty harsh to almost everyone around you here, you're the hardest on yourself, and don't even realize how great of a person you are.

I regret nothing. Nothing can change how lucky one is when you have good friends, and a wonderful lover. Go ahead and use this thread to talk about your friends got your back. Because this post isn't just to my friends, but all the friends, lovers, and family there to help those in need, being there at the right time, and devoting their time to be a good friend.

LAND 'O LAKES, Fla. -- A substitute teacher in Pasco County has lost his job after being accused of wizardry.

Teacher Jim Piculas does a magic trick where a toothpick disappears and then reappears.

Piculas recently did the 30-second trick in front of a classroom at Rushe Middle School in Land 'O Lakes.

Piculas said he then got a call from the supervisor of teachers, saying he'd been accused of wizardry.

"I get a call the middle of the day from head of supervisor of substitute teachers. He says, 'Jim, we have a huge issue, you can't take any more assignments you need to come in right away,'" he said.

Piculas said he did not know of any other accusations that would have led to the action.

The teacher said he is concerned that the incident may prevent him from getting future jobs.

This article was on CNN about a month ago, about a French woman with a rare facial tumor was found dead in her home after a huge debate on whether or not rights to death should be legalized.

PARIS, France (CNN) -- A French woman severely disfigured by facial tumors has been found dead just two days after a court rejected her request for an assisted suicide.

Medical examiners were Thursday looking into the death of 52-year-old Chantal Sebire -- whose case had prompted nominally Roman Catholic France to reexamine its stance on euthanasia -- to determine whether anything illegal had taken place.

It was not immediately clear how Sebire died.

The Dijon prosecutor has also opened an investigation into her death, although it has not yet been determined that an autopsy will take place, according to the prosecutor's office.

Sebire had suffered from esthesioneuroblastoma, a rare and incurable form of cancer for eight years, developing tumors in her nasal passages and sinuses that distorted her face and caused her nose and eyes to bulge.

The woman from Dijon, in eastern France, said drugs were ineffective against the excruciating pain caused by the condition and there was no reason doctors should not be permitted to hasten her death.

"It is not only the face. Some of my bones are eaten into. I don't have any more upper and lower jaws," she said in an interview last month, according to an Associated Press translation.

"At the moment, we don't know by what miracle my teeth are still holding. My gums are falling apart. You see the deformation of my face. It compresses inside," she said.

Sebire insisted there was no reason her doctors should not be permitted to help her commit suicide. "I ask to be helped to die because I don't want this tumor to have the last word. I didn't fight for seven and a half years to have it having the last word," she said in the February interview, according to the Associated Press translation.

Assisted suicide is illegal in France, however. The law permits only passive euthanasia -- removing feeding and hydration tubes when a person is in a coma, or inducing a coma and then removing the tubes.

Sebire's lawyer had tried to convince a French court that it was "barbaric" to put her through the ordeal of dying slowly in an artificial coma, something that could take up to two weeks while her three children looked on in anguish.

The court turned down the appeal Monday.

At the same time, Sebire wrote a letter to French President Nicolas Sarkozy appealing for help, but he responded by suggesting top doctors should reexamine her for a second opinion.

Her plight and the questions it raised caused so much public debate in France that when Sebire was found dead Wednesday night, it made front-page news in heavyweight papers including Le Figaro and Le Parisien.

CNN senior international correspondent Jim Bittermann in Paris said that Sebire had many supporters in France, with hundreds of people writing to her to express their backing.

"One of the reasons for this is this woman was a relatively young mother of three children, and many people could sympathize. People think 'what would I do in the same circumstances.' "

A French group called the Association for the Right to Die with Dignity, which took up Sebire's cause, believes laws must be changed to take such cases into account.

"It is not the liberty of a politician or a doctor -- it's the liberty of the person who is suffering, who has a terminal disease," said Jean-Luc Romero, president of the group.

"It's only the decision of the people who have a terminal disease to decide [whether they may die]."

Others in France disagree.

"It isn't because a citizen says 'I want this' that we should modify the law," said Patrick Verspieren, a Jesuit bioethics expert. "The law is already quite open."

France's prime minister and health and justice ministers all made clear they did not believe changes in French law were needed.

That's pretty tragic. In the end, the tumor did have the last word, and she wasn't even allowed to take pain-killing medication because of their side-effects. I hope she's in a better place, now.

And while controversial topics aren't exactly the most welcome here, how do you think on the subject? Should it be legal for people to choose whether or not to live? In the end, it is their choice, but should it be legalized? I think requested suicides such as doctor-assisted ones for those suffering painful ailments should be legal, after an approval by the doctor abiding by these laws, whereas suicides for different reasons, and on property outside of hospitals should not. It doesn't stop people from doing it of course, but it shouldn't be legal. People might abuse/misinterpret the law and start irrationally committing suicide while thinking that it's perfectly non-consequential to anyone else. It might be tough on some doctors, though-- like how it is with vets and their inevitable obligation of putting animals to sleep, only in this case, they're humans, and most people value the human life a lot more. After thinking about it, that would make the lives of certain people in the hands of doctors in another light-- like being put in the position to judge those who should and shouldn't continue to live. Scary, y/n?

My friend brought up a funny thing, though. She mentioned how organized crime would love this idea to get rid of informants. Hahaha.

Augh, this sucks. There's global shortage on rice supply. Plenty of places here are sold-out, except some of the more expensive markets. Can you imagine life without an abundance of rice? I sure can't.

Uh... there's no official group, but so far there's a few people cosplaying and it'd be rad if we all gathered at some point.

From what I know, I'm cosplaying as Cirno. There's a Kaguya, Tewi, Reisen, and Lyrica. IoriE also had a group set up, but had recently cancelled-- if anyone is still possibly cosplaying from that group still, there might be a Remillia, Chuugoku, and maybe Reimu.

Probably won't be a huge group, but if people keep joining, it'll be the biggest one at Fanimu so far. I had brought a Reisen last year, with a SUUUPER crappy wig. ;; I didn't see any at Fanime, but had found a few at AX like Sakuya and a Youmu.

So yeah! ... Uh, if anyone manages to join, that'd be cool. All of which can supposedly raid Lisu's booth or something.

Really, this looks pretty cool, but something very distant in the future for anything close to it to be released. Look at how long it took to introduce touch screens to the common household. I can't imagine the bugs it would have it if were to happen, and how upset people would be if it malfunctioned. It'd probably cost millions of dollars to develop, and very expensive to own... but to think that how quickly the iPhone became last year's news, who knows.

Just thought I'd share. It amused me for a good bit. =)

I'm guessing this is being used as a new selling point, but I'd be buying the first one regardless, just for the box. The shirts are all sorts of lame.

So, this is a addition to what you get in the first box-set... a failfuku shirt, a screen-wipe coronet, the OP single, Konata's character single, the box, and of course, the DVD. Definitely not nearly as exciting as the Haruhi boxset's release. Why am I planning on buying this? At this point, I haven't much of a clue.

I'm planning on cosplaying Cirno for a con in two months-- problem is, I have no idea how to make her ice wings. They're angular, 3-dimensional, and translucent-- however, if I have to resort to it, I don't need to make them translucent, or even 3-dimensional. If I have to, I might make ones similar to the ones in that cosplay photo, but I would rather have them solid and resembling ice. I've also been baffled as to how to make an adequate harness to wear them, as "backpack-styled straps" would slide and be troublesome-- but I would also want them to be as inconspicuous as possible as I don't want them showing up on the cosplay. Velcro seems to be a good option so far, but as for construction, I have no idea.

My only good suggestion so far given to me by a friend, was to make the icicle shapes out of reinforced honeycomb-type cardboard, painting over them with a light blue paint and self-painted white highlights, then with a gloss of either acrylic paint or a mod-podge finish.

So, if you're up for any suggestions, I'll gladly consider them and appreciate it. Thanks, in advance.

The DVD release is going to be similar to how they released Haruhi. There'll be regular release, and a Special Edition boxset... that supposedly comes with a chocolate cornet. Who knows how the dub'll be-- so far, I haven't heard any negative comments on it. There aren't any videos up, yet, but it was said that jokes and puns are kept relatively the same (???). I wonder how that'll work out.

A lateral thinking puzzle is basically a cross between a puzzle, and story-telling. I'll type a scenario, but I won't give the whole story. What you're supposed to do is ask "yes" or "no" questions to gain clues to solve the rest of the story.

Though, I should warn you that most of these puzzles are morbid and unlikely-- but they're still realistic. I won't give any answer other than "yes", "no", or "doesn't matter". They'll all be honest answers, but I won't promise that they can't be misleading. If you can solve it with the information you have, go for it and type what you think the answer is. When at least 5 people want to give up, I'll ask if you want me to give you the answer.

EDIT: If you've done the current puzzle, before, don't spoil the answer to those who haven't.
EDIT II: You can ask as many questions as you want at a time.

The video left me absolutely speechless, before... and now it sums up to only 7 days until the premiere of episode 01! Whoo!

Count Paris, a young nobleman, talks to Capulet about marrying his fourteen-year-old daughter, Juliet. Capulet demurs, citing the girl`s tender age, and invites him to attract the attention of Juliet during a ball that the family is to hold that night. Meanwhile Juliet`s mother tries to persuade her young daughter to accept Paris` wooing during their coming ball. Juliet is not inspired by the idea of marrying Paris â€" in fact, she admits to not really having considered marriage at all. But, being a dutiful daughter, she accedes to her mother`s wishes. This scene also introduces Juliet`s nurse, the comic relief of the play, who recounts a bawdy anecdote about Juliet at great length and with much repetition.

In the meantime, Montague and his wife fret to their nephew Benvolio about their son Romeo, who has long been moping for reasons unknown to them. Benvolio promises Montague that he will try to determine the cause. Benvolio queries Romeo and finds that his melancholy has its roots in his unrequited love for a girl named Rosaline (an unseen character). Romeo is infatuated but laments that she will not "ope her lap to saint-seducing gold." Perhaps most frustrating to Romeo is the fact that Rosaline "will not be hit with Cupid`s arrow/ She hath Diane`s wit". In other words, it`s not that she finds Romeo himself objectionable, but that she has foresworn to marry at all (she has vowed not to fall in love, and to die a virgin). Benvolio tries to snap Romeo`s ruler, to no avail: despite the good-natured taunts of his fellows, including the witty nobleman Mercutio (who gives his well known Queen Mab speech), Romeo resolves to attend the masquerade at the Capulet house, relying on not being spotted in his costume, in the hopes of meeting up with Rosaline.

Romeo attends the ball as planned, but falls for Juliet as soon as he sees her and quickly forgets Rosaline. Juliet is instantly taken by Romeo, and the two youths proclaim their love for one another with their "love sonnet" in which Romeo compares himself to a pilgrim and Juliet to the saint which is the object of his pilgrimage.
