Sorry folks, things have been crazy on my end, but I'd still like to have another awesome Princess Tutu gathering this year. The 2013 discussion starts over on Page 4. I'm looking at hosting this gathering on Sunday this year and I see that the loctions for gathers have changed again this year. We will be aiming for one of the inside locations (G1 - G4)

Ok, now I have GOT to get my Odile version Kraehe to this con if there is going to be an Odette Tutu. I will find a way to get my tutu across the U.S. if it kills me. *determined face*
I am working on a new gathering location that may benefit your gathering. I wanted something for the Lolita's, OHHS, and two others to use for their gatherings that was a nice area. I will let you know if we get the new location.
The only other area you may consider using would be 1st floor Convention Center Foyer (that is right inside the doors to the Con Center or the Rizor Stage located at the foot of the stairs on the first floor. Neither are exceptionally pretty, but won't damage your shoes like the cobble stone front fountain area.

Hey, I've decided I'll be going as Mr. Cat.
I'm taking someone off DeviantArt's advice (I think it was LordMoufMouf?) and going in a kind of Cats (The Musical) style instead of a mascot head (because I don't think the airplane or customs would be all that happy if I did that too xD)
I'm off to the market today to find material for the fur methinks :3
Does anyone know where I can buy facepaint though? I don't think customs are happy with that kind of thing...

Kryolan makes the best theatrical makeup, in many different shades and colors, so you can get exactly what you want. Also, their prices are very fair for the quality and amount of product you get. I've found Kryolan at their stores, department stores, costume shops, dance shops, etc. You just have to call around and see. :)

Alas, I have no photos of the new gathering location, nor have I been able to find any. In spite of the recomendation, I'm hesitant to use a location with out knowing what it looks like...

You should be ok, a quick google showed me at least one dance store in the San Jose area that carries Kryolan makeup and I would venture to guess that there are a few more. There also seems to be an actual Kryolan store in San Fransisco ;)
Yes, the official Kryolan store is in SF. Check their website, because I think you need to make an appointment or something. They are super helpful, and they let you try all the makeup. :)
Alright, Saturday morning it is! I'm going to put us down for 10:30 to give everyone a bit more time to sleep or whatever and me a little extra time to get ready and down to the table the requisite 15 min early to check in the gathering ;) It looks like Sat.will start getting crowed around 11am this year as the 11 and 11:30 time slots are already being marked as full on the official list.
Next question for everyone is any thoughts on location? *Sigh* I'm thinking of defaulting to the fountains inspite of the cobbly pointe eating pavement because of the ease and shear visibility, but haven't entirely given up on looking at other locations yet. I plan on submitting the info for our gathering by the end of next week, so a decision will be made by then. Sounds good to me. I'm definatly going as a Cats inspired Mr Cat/Neko Sensei. Working on my costume now and looking really forward to Fanime now. x3
Ok, I haven't had time this week to really think much about the gathering or post anything (stupid real life schedule). So I'll be pushing back finalized decision/submision till Monday. Location will be either in front of the fountains, in the 1st floor central lobby area, or the new concourse level patio Marriott side (assuming approval). If anyone has objections or preferences please let me know by Monday morning. Thanks everyone!
Alrighty, I've put us down for the fountains in front, Marriott side. The fountains are just so much prettier than the lobby. I also plan on taking a peak at the new terrace location this year to see if it might be better for next year ;)

I moved you to FiF CE MS (up by the tile wall) and this weekend I will try to get some pics of the patio though it won't be set up with the gathering tables and chairs, but to give you an idea of the location. You can always request a move there for this year if approved :P also note that you will have morning sun on the patio location so it will be really nice :)

I finally finished sewing my costume together; first costume I've ever made so it's a bit off in places though. xD
Woot! Two or three days to Fanime depending on how you count! Gah, I can't wait, but costume wise it always seems to sneak up on me, I may not get the revised bodice completed for Fanime, but the bodice from last year will work :D

Better late than never ;) I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for a wonderful gathering this year! It was very nice to see people again and to meet new Tutu cosplayers. Looking forward to Fanime2011 already ^_^

I would disagree. Some of the costumes aren't very easy to get in and out of, and require lots of fashion tape -coghkrahecough- So I would think the best option is to hold it at around 11-12 am on saturday. That way it won't interfere with the masquerade times, but people won't have to change into the Princess Tutu costumes another day too.

hmmm...good to know. In the past couple years the Masq. peeps haven't been able to make it when we've held it around 10am on Sat. They've had masq. meetings or wanted the outfits to be a surprise or didn't want to get suited up until it was time for the masq, etc. I'd love to make it so they can join the gathering this next year, so if a time change would facilitate that better than a day change that sounds good to me. I've never participated in Masq. so I'm not sure want the Sat. schedule typically looks like for participants.

Alrighty, it's time to start discussing the day and time for this gathering.
For the past 2 years we've held it on Sat., last year around 10am, but that day/time combo has proven difficult for the masquerade groups to be able to attend. I would like to accommodate the masquerade people this year if possible. Kiara, you previously indicated to me that Sat. would still be best for your group just at a different time, is that still true? And if so do you know what time would definitely work around everyone's Masquerade schedule?
Personally I would prefer to keep the gathering on Sat. but have no real time preference.
If anyone else has a day or time preference please post them here.
We don't know when pre-judging is going to be this year, and sadly, we probably won't know until about 2 months before the on. My group has mentioned to me that they won't be cosplaying Tutu any other days because everyone has so many other plans. I would say 11 or noon would be the best time for the gathering. Anything after 2 is going to be too late, since I believe that is rehearsal time for the masquerade, and we are going to have to attend due to having lots of big props to practice getting on stage.

I'd love so much to come to this years gathering (And Fanime 2011) but unfortunatly money and university will probably keep me held back until 2012 ;_;
I'm really dissappointed, especially with the so many cosplayers this year! ><

It looks like we will definately be holding the gathering on Saturday. Times requested so far are in the 11am to noon range for the Masq peeps. Any other thoughts on times before a decision is made?
And I would like to hear any thoughts on location. Is everyone happy with the fountains or is there another location that's struck your fancy? Personally I adore the look of the fountains (very pretty back drop and max exposure to admirers ;) ) but hate the bumpy pavement (hard to balance on and hard on ballet shoes).
I'm not gonna miss it this year, not again :'D
I'm planning on going as one of the crow dancers (woooo minor characters), and my friend is thinking about going as Kraehe. B:

So...it looks like the Masquerade is moving to Sunday night this year, but the Craftsmanship judging will still be on Saturday with hour break in the judging schedule from noon to 1pm. Kiara, and any other peeps from potetial Masq groups, will Sat. still work for your group if we hold the gathering inbetween the craftsmanship judging time blocks?
So, this new masquerade timing SUCKS. My group has a lot of other costumes for Fanime, so the only day we can do Tutu is masquerade day. So we would only be able to attend a gathering if it were Sunday morning. I'm sorry! The run-through for the masq starts at 2pm, and judging is form 12-3. I'm hoping to ask for a judging slot around 1pm, so.... if you end up hosting the gathering on Sunday, I would say 11? But it's up to you guys, and hopefully my group will be able to make it.
Alrighty everyone, in light of the Masquerade moving to Sunday and the problems that causes for the large PT group trying to attend the gathering around their Masq. obligations, how does everyone feel about possibly moving the gathering to Sunday morning? - I'm looking at either 11:30, noon, or 3pm for the time slot on Sunday. What works best for everyone?
- Leaning towards Fountains again for location cause they are the prettiest. Other options include Lobby (the stage in there might be fun) or having our meeting place and location be separate ex: meet at fountains then go take pics in the park or Fairmont lobby. Thoughts and opinions welcome. (airanimechiic your vote for fountains is duely noted)
- I'm planning on having everything finalized by the end of March so if you have an opinion about any of this please let me know ASAP

Hello Everyone!
Sorry for the late start getting this gathering up and running again for 2012. Time to figure out who's coming and were/when to meet this year!
Due to the construction at the convention center entrance and the uncertainty of how the area around the fountains out front (which I hear are no longer actually fountains) will look I would like to move the gathering inside this year. I'm thinking convention lobby as this will still give us lots of visibility with the added bonus of (hopefully) neither freeing like last year or roasting like the year before. Any thoughts, objections, other ideas, etc?
We're looking at either Saturday or Sunday again (we've typically held this gathering in the late morning on the day of the Masquerade). Any preferences for day or time?
I'm revamping my rue, and i may have a tutu as well, but i vote for sunday, saturday im going to be in full body paint and im sure a green rue wouldnt go over that well lol. :D

Sorry I haven't updated about time and location in a timely manner. My schedule just went crazy this last couple of weeks :-[ but things have calmed down now and it's time to make this gathering official!
Time: I am looking at the 11:30am time slot on Sunday for this gathering. If that doesn't work (if its full etc.) my back up time slot would be 10:30am
Update 05/09/12: Gathering submitted for 11am instead. Reasons: 1) In 11:30am time slot there would be another group at our location immediately after us and we usually run a bit over the half hour time slots 2) I realized I might be unable to get our gathering checked in on time at the 10:30 slot, that extra half hour can make all the difference sometimes!
Location: Due to both construction and the alternating freezing and burning temps we've experienced with this gathering the last couple years, my first choice of location is 1FCC RS the 1st Floor Convention Center Lobby Riser Stage. The convention entrance facade blocks the windows enough that this location does not suffer from being back-lit like the lobby doors and my hope is that at close to Mid day there would be even less chance of that. Also, with our ballet theme a stage might be fun. I realize that for those of us in Tutus there is the panty shot worry if we are raised above the crowd slightly, but even if we opt to simply pose in front of the stage it could act as a handy support to lean against for longer poses :D Second choice location would be FMS the Front Marriot Side of the Convention Lobby over by the trees.
Please let me know if any of you have any preferences, objections or opinions. I will bewaiting till Monday 05/07/12 to submit this gathering in order to give you all a chance to respond.

*pokes in* Hellooooooo. I'll be attending this year in my trusty Swan Lake getup. Being inside would be nice, and it will be much kinder to those us in satin pointes, since concrete really rips them up. I don't think the carpet will be an issue, since i don't think anyone is planning any fancy dancing. :)
As for the panty-perves, I'm going to try to enlist my Duke to help guard against that. He can stand on the ground and watch the photos, or we can ask the photogs to stay back a certain distance. :)
So sorry I didn't manage to attend the gathering this year! :C I was managing a table in Artist Alley and couldn't get there in time. I was the Princess Tutu in the Masquerade though, if anyone saw me! ^^ Hope everyone had fun, and pictures of the gathering would be great! :3

Ack, I can't believe it is already April! My apologies for dropping the ball a bit this year. If anyone is still checking this thread the answer to the question of whether this gathering is still happening YES, Given that we get enough people on short notice. Even though it's last minute I'm going to try to get this gathering up and running again!
@Olivine: This gathering will most likely be held on Sunday. Friday is out unless it works best for everyone else and someone wants to take this gathering over, as I am driving in that day and already have another gathering that evening.

Well, the gathering list is now closed, and as we did not get enough people interested on the forums here so it looks like we won't be having an official gathering this year :'(
Myself and Trillian will be at wearing our Princess Tutu cosplays on either Saturday or Sunday. If anyone else is planning to cosplay Princess Tutu this year, please post and let me know. Maybe we can still organize a last minute unofficial get together ;)
