Thursday is sit in a line for 5 hours day. People come to get their badges early normaly you can around 5pm-6pm or 6pm-7pm. So if you are going to go Thursday be a boyscout and be prepared. DS games will be played while in line. Meet new people in line and bring a chair(but no root rest please that takes up alot of room) the line does not move till 5 or 6pm and most people start the line around 1-3pm ive been there at noon before. Bring a friend for when you need to visit the restroom or make one their.

While people wait in line Some people go to the video rooms and watch videos they offer starting around noon. Alot of people take the time to dress up for day 0 and some people get advance start on their picture taking and test out their cosplay with a day left before day 1. (for quick fixes so that the outfit stays together on day1. )

Btw the Advance badge is only good if you plan to go midday on day one or any time after 10. The lines will be longer for people who pre reged than people buying that day. And what the heck if your their Thursday might as well hang out with other people going to the con!!!

Ok just wanted to start this thread with the intent for people to post what they have gotten from grab bags and the knowlege i have gotten over the years of con going.

First i have never bought a grab bag because my friend who was a vender at Fanime for years told me how grab bags are made. Grab bags are paper bags with items inside that you don't know what is what. Also the value is normally MORE than what you pay.
Sounds good so far but There is a catch. One items may not be your size or BROKEN. When my friend was a vender he said all items that were not selling good or were damaged going to the con to the point they some people wont buy it seeing it like that. Its a cheep way to get some of their items sold so they don't have to ship it back. Only Once awhile he would put good items in the grab bag so people can tell others they got ___ at booth ___. So it is buy at your own risk for it can not be returned. Most of the people i know who got them later gave the items away as gifts or sold them at swap meets.

Yea the secuirty deposit are often required. I have a Video on my facebook why. (room full of broken bottles nuts and other stuf fon the floor and a chair on the bed. Frame of another bed BROKEN. )

Alot of ATM's Nearby so save alot bring some and ATM it so you have time to say Hey do i really need this. But some cash for those OMG MUST BUY moments.  Btw food can be cheeper if you WALK along the streets in San jose.

BUT items are often given to the store AHEAD of time. Some places may of talked it over and gotten advance copys to sell.

Ill go  and my cosplay is... um >.>  Host club Nekozawa or Free(from soul eater) Think the Host club gathering is that day but its easy to switch between cosplays XD.

Hello i wanted to try and start a meet-up of people who are local or near by to San Jose. I myself live in Fremont (10-14 min drive from convention). I'm personally am a nice guy and get along with everyone i just have a bad habit of not being able to find new friends. So thinking i'm not the only one I wanted to start a topic about possible starting a gathering or meet-up were people who cosplay or like anime/manga (convention goers) can meet up and possibly join local cosplay groups or even start one. So in general i would say this is a cosplayers meet up and make new friends by knowing people there also want to make new friends. like a new friend blind date were you become friends!

So yea if people like this ill try and make a date and time and place were people can hang out

There is a train outside of the con that you can follow (north) or ride for $2 for 2 hours to a Johny rockets togo's quikke (that sweet tea drink) sushi place and few other food places. A street before that is a pizza my heart bens and jerrys (icecream) and jack in the box and McDonalds. between first and 2nd stop on the train is a PF changs (chinese bistro family style) subway and other food locations including a SafeWay which is a food store. A few more stops and you get to san jose's japan town with Japanese themed food.

The location is near my college so there are TONS of food locations around it. Look up food around San jose state University for good food within walking distance.

Just a few facts. San jose is one of the safest towns in the US. 2 - 4 blocks away is a local police building.
San Jose -- Named Safest City the Country (top 5 overall)
Ive been downtown alot (even go to school like a 2 blocks away) and the scaryist thing you will get is someone scared that YOU might hurt them if your in cosplay (cosplayed ichigo bankai when it came out and people AVOIDED me lol). Biggest thing or closest thing to a fight ive seen are all verbal but those people go to bed early.

The public transport (buses) down there go everwere. Look up the VTA down there for back up times. Parking is EXPENSIVE i have my own spot because i live near by that charges 7 a day over 4 days TT_TT lol

Hi ive never really done this before. I have my only homemade cosplay as Free (man who stole the witches eye) from soul eater. I should be available both days(unless the soul eater gathering is then thin its at 2. (but will lose because he immortal but sucks at attacking i think XD but wait immortal cant die...)

I'll be hosting soul eater again! XD

YAY lol i cosplay Free(magic immortal werewolf)[prison escape and battle ready]  and the recent con's i have gone to have not had soul eater gatherings and i don't see soul eater on the Master list yet!!!!
