Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Dance playlist?
February 18, 2014, 02:21:31 AM
Yep I agree that playing stuff that one person will like is a bad idea. That's why I want a playlist so that we can input what songs we want to be played and not have the dj randomly play music of what he/she thinks most people like. I think more people would come to the dance if they know that their favorite songs would be played. There are anime songs that people will dance too it's just that the dj doesn't know what song they are. If you bring a DJ from Japan like DJ Zaneeds, they will play jrock/jpop songs that will make you dance. Just like how they did at the j-pop summit in 2011.

I don't mind if it is remixed version of j-pop, j-rock songs as long there is a time slot for that type of music where we could dance to it. But it seems most of the DJ's only play one j-rock or j-pop songs and just not play it anymore.

P.S. I hope there is a DJ that plays K-pop music. Most of the songs are catchy and are danceable too.

In my opinion, I hope there aren't any songs that are not from anime or video game music. I mean this is an anime con right? We should find music that are from anime or games. We should leave other songs that aren't anime or video games to other events eg. prom or other ball room dancing related events. As for fanime, most people are anime fans and I think most people would want to listen to anime/game music.

I really hope that's not the case. Ever been to last years Sacanime, ALA, formal dances? They played nothing but video game anime soundtracks. It sounded fine for the first 45 minutes but honestly people where not happy. There was a steady line of people asking the "dj" to play something danceable.  After 2 hours there was about 20 or so people out of a packed room of 100+.
Anime/video game songs are great to listen to. That's what they where meant to, but to dance to no, only a few 10% are danceable.

I feel last years B&W ball had a good music selection. A couple of songs where undanceable but over all 80% had that good energy to dance too.  A good amount of danceable anime/video game and radio dance hits.

Sorry if I sounded like I called you out on it Dangs but after my bad experience with those formal balls I do not want that to be the same for this years B&W ball.

I haven't been to those formal dances. I am not sure about Sacanime or ALA, but for Fanime we can actually input what music we want to hear so if there is something we want heard we would post it here on the forums or contact them about it. I know that if random anime/game music were to be played of course not everyone is going to enjoy it, but if we were to choose what anime/game music to be played and have a vote then it will have a better chance of everyone liking it. I know not everyone might not want to dance to certain songs, but I am listing songs that I believe people will like.

There are countless anime or games music that is danceable it is just that they haven't been posted or people haven't heard of it yet D:

The reason why I think Fanime should have all anime/game music is because like I said earlier, if it had the same music that a regular formal ball does, it wouldn't be that special. I mean, when do you get to play anime/game music and people would enjoy and dance to it?  Would your high school prom want anime/game music? Would American ballrooms play anime/game music? I believe not, because most of the people there aren't into anime/game music to enjoy it. Fanime should be different. Majority of the songs should be what their attendees enjoy, which is anime/game music. This is why I like Fanime because we can give our inputs on what songs could be played.

*I'm okay with there being some music that isn't anime/game and I listed one above. I just feel that the playlist should have higher priority for anime/game music and give it more of a chance then other songs that aren't anime/game related.

Ideas and Suggestions / Dance playlist?
February 17, 2014, 02:43:11 PM
Why isn't there a dance playlist for the Fanime dance? For the black and white ball there is a playlist for the people and we get to put our inputs on which song should be played.

Last year I went to the dance and there was music that could of been played at any club or rave. I didn't enjoy it because I was hoping there would be j-pop songs or j-rock. What I am trying to say is, Fanime is an anime con and most of the attendees there like anime. So why aren't there any dj's that specifically play anime songs? or why can't the attendees put our inputs on which songs should be played?

Some good music that should be played are the one listed in the music fest page where people listed their favorite bands.
Here is the thread http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,18708.0.html

Some songs I would like are:

1. Life is like a boat - Bleach (Anime) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFXXUv_ywjU

This song I will think will break the ice for most people. The lyrics, "Nobody knows who i really am. I never felt this empty before and if I ever need someone to come along? Whos going comfort me and keep me strong? That would inspire to make someone to go out of their comfort zone and ask to dance. I think this song is best played after a few songs.

2. Shiki no Uta - Samurai Champloo (Anime) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sccg1CZzi4

Pretty cool song.

3. Aqua -Aria the animation (Anime) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IoVXbILLQA

This song has a happy relaxing taste to it.

4. Your Affection - Persona 4 (Anime) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDv7fPjHDxc

Has an upbeat sound to it

5. Venus to Jesus - Arakawa Under the bridge (Anime) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqfRIC1N9K4

6. Dango Daizoku - Clannad (Anime) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvzCmV3_12c

7. Hey Mr. Music - Miku, len, rin, Luka  (Vocaloid)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4cSCf83gn8

8. My soul your beats - Angel Beats! (Anime) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIFV8UUs1-c

9. Spica Paid vacation remix - ちびた (Vocaloid) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qVFmCYPpGg

10. Ellinia - Maplestory (MMORPG) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foiD5iCkq08

I feel "Ellinia" would bring the feels for most people because it is a nostalgic music that maplers have gone through.

11. Lahan -Xenogears (Video game) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xWWORjQ2cQ

There is a festive feeling to "Lahan" makes you want to get up and dance. A feeling of joy and happiness.

12. Pursuing My True Self - Persona 4 (Video game) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0F-XzhAMFAM

Not sure if all the songs fit the style for ball room dancing feel free to take a look though.

Well this is my opinion, if there are going be non related music here are few songs I will suggest.

1. Cherry Bon Bon - Kyary Pamyu Pamyu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AmyrVs8MSc

2. Yume No Hajima - Kyary Pamyu Pamyu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Kog6fJgdAM

3. Candy Candy - Kyary Pamyu Pamyu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoK8DaJRDaM

4. Kiss me (Remix)- Sixpence None the Richer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KknBFN4X1qE

I might post more music, but at this moment I can't think of any more.

I agree that 7!! and rookiez is punk'd hit it last year for 2013. They made the audience involved and made us sing along with them. I thought that was awesome. The energy was there and I felt it. I don't mind them coming back for 2014 so if you can bring them back then that'll be awesome.

Some singers/bands that think should come to Fanime are

Shihoko Hirata -Her songs were used in the Persona 4 anime and game. Her songs are in english, but nonetheless it sounds amazing. I can see people getting energized from one of her songs "Reach Out To The Truth First Battle" and "Sky's the limit"

Nico Touches the Walls -Amazing Rock songs I think they would really hit it for Fanime 2014. Songs played from Naruto Shippuden and Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Supercell/Egoist/Nagi - They played songs in animes such as Guilty crown and Bakemonogatari. Good choice if going for slow music.

LiSA - She play songs for Fate/Zero, Angel beats!, Sword Art Online. Not sure if she want wants to come back to the USA, but she has some really good rock songs.

Link horizon - They played songs for Shingeki No Kyojin, a really popular anime series.

STYLE FIVE - The did songs from Free!

Some other good choices are Eir aoi, Asian kung fu generation, Home made kazoku, Scandal, Yuya, Flow, Shank, Four get me a not, Gazette

I am looking forward to this years Fanime music fest if any of the bands/singers I listed get announced. 2013 Fanime music fest was the best. It was my first time going and it was on a whim. My friends told me to go so I went. I didn't realize that I enjoyed it so much. Thank you Fanime Staff :D

I take light rail to go home from school weekly so I would see the construction everyday since the light rail station is right in front of it. Honestly, I was fine with it. They knocked down the old library and looks like they're expanding the area which can lead to more stuff for Fanime to have available. The basic structure of the building got up (complete with windows!), and I wouldn't be bothered by it because there was a bit of space to walk around. But that all changed when sometime around end of April/beginning of May that they destroyed the fountain I got mad.

Oh wow I didn't know they had a library, yea omg why did they had to destroy the fountains!

Totally agree. As long as we have more room to party :-D
Plus it's fun watching the progress.

Haha I hope we do have more room to party too :D

*Not sure if this topic goes here. If it doesn't please, do whatever you please admins.

I went to Fanime (the building) the other day just to check it out and the front of the building has a huge construction thingy going on! Like I remember last year there was a lot of space to move around in front of the area, but now it looks like there is not going to be any space to move around. Ahh!!! Why did this have to happen? I know they are trying to expand the premise and stuff. But even still, there isn't much walking space for now. I heard back then that there was fountains in front of the convention center, but they took that out. It is sad to see so many changes happen D:

Enough of me talking, how do you feel about the construction going on at the convention center?

Here is the video so you get an idea of what the construction looks like.

P.S.

If you haven't watched k project, check it out!

The anime is a story about finding the identity of a murderer that killed a member of the HOMRA group. The HOMRA group wants revenge on the murderer and things get out of control and chaos is involved. The genre of this anime is mystery and supernatural. I don't think I did a good job explaining what the anime is about so go watch the first episode and see what it is.

What part of Hayward? Also I enjoy anime as well, but no one to hang out with here in Hayward.

The part of Hayward by San Leandro and Castro Valley, I think it's called the "Cherryland district ".

LOL that's where I live nearby too, thumbs up for living in Hayward!

I haven't seen a thread for fanime convention videos so I decided to create one. If you recorded the fanime event please reply with your video below. I will love to see it and I'm sure others would love to see it too :).

My video is 16 minutes long and the groups that stand out the most is

League of legends (I got garen to do his skill "judgement" spin to win!).
Vocaloid and the part of the vocaloid gathering,
Naruto (I got most of them dancing in a huge group :D),
Gintama (I got gintoki to pick his nose)
Black Rock shooter (Got black gold saw, strength, dead master, Black rock shooter, and white rock shooter in the video)
Ruroni Kenshin (I got a live action movie scene collaborated with shishio, samurai x kenshin, and sanosuke)

Here is the video

Did anyone take my pic? I was cosplaying as Otonashi from Angel Beats! and Akaito from Vocaloid

By the way I also have a youtube video that is filled with lots of people. The video is 16 minutes long. If you know people in the video can you tag them? You know if you're in my video, if a guy with a red wig asked you if you wanted to be in my cosplay video or video shoot.
