I just wanted to follow up for the attendees.

Duplicant was in attendance. They had a computer crash, and had worked through as much of the back data as they could. There were a few corrupted emails that they were unable to contact to get details for. They brought the completed statues to Fanime '16 though in hopes of getting them to their rightful owners.

Duplicant informed me they still have a couple left, but were able to give the majority of the statues to their proper owners. If you did not receive your statue from the '15 con please contact me dealers at fanime dot com, and I'll get you in touch with the company.

He should be returning in the same spot he was last year.

I would like everyone to know that staff has not forgotten, and we are still trying to make contact as well.

January 12, 2016, 05:03:12 AM
I just wanted to confirm that staff does look at these boards. I try to get the best selections possible and compile the wish lists for our Dealers, so hopefully they will bring what people are looking for.

Regards,
Dealers

• Deals hall.
Some how it seems it is getting smaller every year. ( could be due to SJCC and their retarded union fees/policies )

Actually in the three years I've been running it we've been continuously growing. The easiest way to show this is we used to be in just in Hall 2. Last year, '14 we broke through the wall. This year '15 we ran wall to wall side ways. Next year and, so forth is just more back fill.

Is there something lacking that you're looking for. I'm always trying to make the Hall more diverse to meet the needs of the attendees.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Review your hotel stay!

Went back to rooming in the Hyatt Place again. Checked in on Friday and checked out Monday.

This is probably my second time staying at the Hyatt and it is my favorite hotel. The hotel has improved a lot compared to my stay in 2013. It's right across the street from the convention. Check in and check out always goes smoothly. Staff is always friendly. There's only 9 floors, so the wait for the elevators isn't horrendous. The rooms are decently spacey, they all come with a mini-fridge, and it seems that they cleaned out the air vents (two years ago the air in the room was pretty stuffy). I also like how they have a sofa in every room. If you don't want to share a bed, you can have the couch to yourself. Parking is only $12 a night, it's self-parking only, and you get in and out privileges. Best of all: CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST BUFFET!! Two years ago I had to pay $7 separately for breakfast, but now it's complimentary with the room. They give you wristbands that will get you into the buffet. It's all you can eat, so I always get a big helping to help me last through most of the day.:D

Downsides: The bathrooms are a bit small, especially the sink which can get overly crowded with toiletries. Same goes for the double beds. If you're pretty tiny, you won't have any problems sleeping next to each other. But if you're bigger in size there's not much space (thank god for the sofa!). Some of the elevators would sometimes shut down, so it made waiting a lot longer. It was no use taking the stairs either since it was only available for fire exit emergencies. But hey, it's only 9 floors so it's not that big of a deal. The hotel is also a bit on the pricey side compared to the other hotels, but you get a lot more amenities compared to staying at the Hilton or Marriott.

Other than these minor negatives, this is still a great hotel to stay at and will probably continue going to this hotel for every Fanime.

I typically check in Wednesday and check out Tuesday.

I have to agree with pretty much everything above, but I didn't have issues with the beds. I'm 6'00'' and I shared the bed with no problems.

OMG the breakfast buffet. I would tank up heavy at breakfast and just snack during the day. (Yay for takoyaki in the Hall)

The other nice thing is that they have a late night option of hot food just to the right of the check in desk. It's not very fancy but it's fairly priced and serves as late as 2am that I can remember.

From what I understand the elevator issues might have just been this year as they were upgrading them.

The business center is really nice too. I've been able to do some last minute corrections and printing right in the lobby, before going on shift in the Convention center.

The only other downside is that they are a Pepsi hotel, so no luck for us Coke addicts. No vending, but they have cold options available all the time to the left of the check in desk.

Dealers Room / Re: Your Shopping List
May 20, 2015, 05:20:38 AM
I'd like to add, please pace yourselves as needed. The Dealers Hall, is bigger and badder than ever. We have over 200 booths featuring over 100 different vendors. In just my three years as head we've just about doubled.

We will have tables in the back for people to rest. Drink water, remember most hangovers are actually dehydration. Between the 2 halls there should be 4 men's rooms and 4 ladies rooms to be used as needed.

Dealers Room / Re: PLEASE BRING Markers from Japan!!

Our vendors do include Deleter which sells the items you mentioned. This year we also have a new art supply vendor Kuretake Zig.

If you are referring to the type used in Gundam Models you might try BlueFin.

Please post separately for issues not regarding the Dealers' Hall, so it can be addressed.

Not entirely sure where to post this but I was thinking, could somebody be able to give me a ride to fanime?

I'll pay for gas no problem, maybe add a little extra for the effort too.

I live by the richmond area, more details I can provide via PM or email at [email protected] my skype is also available too at SurikizuHD.

Thanks and have a great day everyone

Two things: First it helps to know where you're coming from. Secondly don't put an email like that on a forum it will attract spammers. You should edit your post as superaudir8 at gmail dot com.

Dealers Room / Re: Spotting Counterfeits???
April 22, 2015, 11:52:13 PM
If anyone comes across bootlegs, especially if a dealer pulls it from behind a table, or a place not in easy sight, please let dealer staff now, and we will look into it.

With that said some companies like Good Smile, post helpful pictures to help spot the fakes.
http://partner.goodsmile.info/support/eng/fake/

Although in general this tutorial helps teach the basics of bootleg spotting
http://nyotaku.com/2012/11/25/how-to-spot-a-fake-nendoroid/

We are always trying to police the dealers, but diligence by all is the best way to avoid bootlegs. We do have stiff penalties from not being allowed back to immediate expulsion for vendors that test our policy.

Some cool announcements.
Along the lines of new distributors we have some new blood joining us:
What Pumpkin Studios
Kuretake Zig

Also for clarification, what is cybergoth? I may be to old now.... I know cyberpunk, but not cybergoth. Some examples would be great for tracking it down.

I'm on the lookout for more tokusatsu as well as it has seen a big revival both in Japan and here. 8)

Items check is great concept. I didn't get to find it though. Though good thing I did not need to find it. Particularly for those who carpooled or ridden transit in or stay at a offsite hotel which requires a bus or light rail ride.
Though I had an experience that would like to bring to concern. I had to volunteer at dance halls to fulfill my volunteer hours on the night before the last day, I had difficultly getting to where I was supposed to be as I had a bag of necessities which included gum and liquids which is barred from the no outside food or drink rule to keep the floors clean. "Japanese dance floor hygiene standards" ha ha  So I could not get to where I was supposed to go to volunteer therefore I waited outside to see what can I do since I did not have a car and even if I know items check exists it's already shut down for the night and won't do me any good. Thankfully a staff member let me in saying it's ok to the TSA style bag checkers and clocked me in for volunteer hours so I was able to volunteer for my hours.
I see on another post about how a formal items check inside convention center would rely on unionized staff. Though I wonder since there are already a number of staff and volunteers sitting at tables outside the dance hall it couldn't hurt to have a informal name tag box/cobby system to leave props, jackets, bags, backpacks, food, etc temporarily in boxes or cubbies until one leaves the dance floor giving the tag back to claim their items it would make things much better for those who don't have the luxury of an onsite hotel room, or car parked in the onsite garage. Some people cannot just throw away food or liquids because they would need it afterwards as they would be hungry and thirsty after dance and they would not be able to buy as everything is closed at such a late hour. So if the formal items check cannot be moved to Hilton or open as late as dance closing this idea should be offered as an alternative. That's my two cents.

Last year was Checks' first year so we were running it on a bare bones system to see if it was even worth continuing. As I said previously it did do well and we will be bringing it back.

Our first goal will be to make it 24/5. That is mostly a matter of getting enough bodies to cover the shifts, which should be doable. The Hilton is jam packed with vital con operations, so it is likely we will be in the Marriott again.

The other post was correct in the convention center we would have to pay for union staff to run it. At which point we won't make much if anything for Charity, and that is what Check was intended for was to be a Charity booster. Due to liability and our contract with the convention center there is no way of running it even as boxes or cubbys.
