The Artist Alley FAQ

Q: Is the AA sold out?
A: Yes and no, it was sold out as of June 2008. We have since worked hard to be creative and opened up floor space for additional tables.

Q: How can I register for a table?
A: (see below first) Check here, fill in this, and send it in to the stated address

Q: How old do I have to be to get a table?
A: 18, 16 with parental consent and help getting the sellers permit and registering the table

Q: Can I use the 2008 contract?
A: NO

Q: Help on the sellers permit
A: http://www.boe.ca.gov/info/reg.htm

Q: If I registered for a table at 2008, will the contract changes affect me?
A: Yes they will, but you will not need to turn in the contract again. Please see AA page for details

Q: When will I be notified that you have received my contract?
A1: If you registered at con 2008, we will notify you when we send the seating chart out (no, we have not started).
A2:If you sent in a contract in the 2009 calendar year, we will send out an e-mail to those that we have received a contract and also those that are on the wait list. Please note: Only certain people are able and allowed to check our mail because so many checks and contracts come through. Because only those people are able to check these things, our response time is limited to the availability of these people.

We are aware that artists would like to produce items for this event specifically and would like to know if they are seated ASAP, but ultimately this event is not established for that purpose. It is to help artists practice their trade, share their creations and improve their work. The items sold should be produced already in the course of a year's work as an artist. This event was established to be a community and not a business proposition.

Please see here for info from 2008. Note that this may change but is overall correct.

Serious Business / BART officer involved shooting
January 12, 2009, 03:10:56 PM
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/01/12/BAMF1585T4.DTL&tsp=1

What are your thoughts on this issue? Should the officer be arrested? Even if its against the currently established laws, should he be detained? If he was not, would we have on our hands another LA riots?

The facts are not clear yet, but it seem to be a charged topic.

Forum Games / Rhyme Time
December 05, 2008, 11:31:07 AM
(Stolen from Dom)

Let's play a rhyme game.

Every 2 lines, the ending word has to rhyme. And it's gonna be a story. After every 2 lines, you can come up with a new line without rhyming, but the following line must rhyme with the previous.

EXAMPLE:
ridin' down the street in my impala
all the girls who see me wanna holla
puffin' the sticky and bumpin ' to the beat
I ask all'em girl if they can handle the heat
jockin' the chica with the voluptuous D cup
wonderin' if maybe she would sign a pre-nup

Here goes:
Strumming my pain with his fingers...

Serious Business / CA Supreme Court review of Prop. 8
November 25, 2008, 11:47:43 AM
So should the CA Supreme court be able to review Prop. 8? What implications does it have? Can/should a court "usurp" public opinion?

Registration / Poll: Group Reg (please comment)
November 09, 2008, 06:36:33 PM
One of the biggest advantages of Group Registration is that someone could register you and pick up your badge for you. Thanks to some changes in registration, the pre-reg line is now moving a lot faster, so this advantage may not be as important.

Two disadvantages for group reg is some limited payment options and ONLY the group leader may register the group and pick up the badges. That means that if you arrive at con BEFORE your group leader, you may NOT register yourself individually.

Please include why you would like group reg back.
