I can't donate at Fanime because I already donated to the Stanford Blood Center at the beginning of May, but I encourage everyone to donate if you can!

Here are some pointers:
Drink lots of water before and after donation
Eat a balanced meal before you donate, preferably something rich in Iron
Don't skip or miss any meals after donating
Immediately report any dizziness or lightheadedness after donating
Enjoy the cookies and take it easy for 24 hours after donating

You can get more information on eligibility for donating here:
http://bloodcenter.stanford.edu/donate/EligibilityMedHisDeferral.html

Please please please donate if you can. The SBC folks are a good bunch of people and if you're a little scared they'll get you through it. Most of the pain comes from the initial test they run from a prick into a finger, not from the actual donation.

Your blood WILL save lives. You'll get a cool sticker and colored arm band, and if you come and find me while wearing a sticker or armband I'll give you a Cthulhu for President button.

DO IT

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Sharks playoff party
May 12, 2011, 11:01:38 AM
I'm thinking that the Sharks will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I don't follow hockey, but they seem to be on their way to blowing a 3 game lead.

General Convention Discussion / Re: Disabilities?

It's important to note that the earlier you arrive to ask for a room on a lower floor, the better. As rooms fill up the hotel's options for accommodating your request decrease. You could also try calling up the housing group or the hotel directly to request something ahead of time.

What, are you worried Kaneda will show up and take all your deals?

Once again, the Cthulhu for President campaign is coming to Fanime!

Despite my strongest objections, I have tasked with asking you, the teeming unwashed masses, what you would like to learn from the campaign this year. So feel free to submit your questions to be answered by the campaign this year.

Or don't.

Video Programming / Re: Yuri and Yaoi nights

Not to add to this necromancy too much...

According to last year's schedule, there was Yaoi on the first two nights. That isn't a guarantee of anything though, as I know the schedule is still being worked on. I know it'll be released as soon as possible.

I seem to remember there being Yaoi every evening, but looking at last year's schedule I am clearly wrong. You'll probably have to wait until it is officially released though.

question: do the same rules about adding bumpers in the begging and the end of the video still apply here like it does in the regular amv?

Good question. I'm going to say that you should try to not have any bumpers.
If you can't avoid them (not sure why that would be the case, but whatever), I'll try to edit them out myself. Keep in mind that I have far less in the way of video editing skills than the FMV group, so if you want to avoid me making a crappy edit of your video, you should avoid sending me a video with bumpers.

Hope that answers your question.

Do you need to have a hotel room key to get in?  I know some hotels do that as an extra precaution so they don't have people abusing it.

Oh yes, you need a room key to get into either pool.

That doesn't make the Hilton pool any less lame though.

I remember the Hilton pool being super lame. The Marriott pool is much better.

I don't understand the point of hug lines.

I don't mind the existence of the Hug lines, but they do scream Weeaboo to me, and they are to me the scorn of the earth.
But what has been said, they are an unneeded and disruptive.
If the hug lines being gone makes you not want to return next year, REALLY, you are going to Fanime for the wrong reasons. The Hug line CAN be fun, but it is nowhere as fun as going to some of the panels like Cthulhu for President, or going to MusicFest.

Aww shucks, yer makin me blush

I'm gonna chat with Jerry at Saturday's meeting, but I'm thinking that I'll show something on day 0, just for the people who are there.

Who thinks they'll come?

Which one? & is it in a black-&-white format?

I cannot say which movie it would be. It will be a good movie though.
#217
Of those who will be there, anyone interested in seeing a Samurai movie?
#218
I'm a little bit curious, since I might be arranging to show a movie or two for the people there.
