So basically all that the confirmation e-mail does is confirm that you have paid. FanimeCon will be sending EVERYONE who has paid an e-postcard e-mail with a code that allows you to check in. You do not need the confirmation e-mail of payment- you will need the e-postcard email we send in May. However, if something does go wrong with your account, we will need a copy of the confirmation e-mail.

In the case of group registration, will it be one email sent to the group leader with everyone's information like in previous years? Or individual emails sent to each member that the group leader would have to collect?
I'm not 100% sure about what you're asking but the group leader will be the one getting the e-mail with the group roster and check-in code.

Yes that's what I was asking  ;D Sorry if my wording was messed up.

Theres never a long line EARLY FRIDAY morning. Thats when to get it. Screw day zero.

We lined up early on Friday last year and were there for nearly three hours. I'd rather sleep in that day or find food parking and waste half my day on Thursday.

What CMR doesn't mention is that there is a small window of time after they transfer the info to the hotels when you can cancel directly with the hotel with no fee. I did it two years ago, when I had to drop a room a week before con.

I never even thought of that..... and most usually let you cancel up to 24 hours before so I wonder how big that window is. That's good news for future cons.

I think the typical fee is one nights stay plus applicable taxes.

I stayed there last year and will agree with the rooms being small. Four people would my max unless everyone on the floor is super comfortable with having people really close to them. W had five in our room for one night and three people tht didn't mind the closeness shared th bed. Besides sleeping space there's also luggage spac to think about. It can't cramped really easy if people don't pick up after themselves.

Oh jeez. Thanks for all the replies. This is gonna be interesting ......

Any estimate of when the E-Postcard will be emailed out for badge pick up? And will it be like in previous years with the entire groups information it or will they be emailed individually?

Hotel and Facilities / Parking?
May 05, 2014, 09:54:55 AM
I haven't seen a general thread for this yet, so sorry if it was already made and I just happened to miss it.

What are the cheapest parking garages/lots in the area? My roommates are insanely cheap when it comes to parking costs a hotels, so we're looking for somewhere else that won't charge as much if its possible.

My friend booked our group a suite at the Fairmont this year(not thru housing, he wanted it that badly) and when he went to look at the hotel room(apparently you can do that if you call ahead and ask?) he said something about needing a room key to use the elevator? Does anything know if this is true? Thanks.

Oh boy, looks like I'll be getting there around 10am..... Hope that's early enough.

General Convention Discussion / Re: Day 0: Worth It?
April 24, 2014, 07:52:45 PM
We're doing Day 0 this year since our friend lives in the area and we're staying with him that night. I really just want to get it out the way so I can enjoy my morning on Friday without waking super early just to sit in line. I'd rather wake up early to go find parking and have fun XD

its been over 24 hours, I guess if I don't get a response by the time I wake up (10-12 hours from now) I should resend the email :T

A few people above have said using Chrome instead of Firefox you can resend the confirmation email. I just tried that and the email with sent in under a minute. Try doing that if you still haven't ahold of anyone and haven't gotten your confirmation yet.

I haven't gotten mine either, been almost two hours since buying my groups badges. But when I clicked on the "Detailed Statement" it brings up a receipt looking page and the Balance Due is $0 and it shows my payment. I'm still a little worried that I haven't gotten it yet since the price jump is tomorrow...... hope it comes through soon and I really am completely registered.

1. Is it okay if I make someone else in my group the group leader even though I'm paying for everyone's badges? Because I don't have a Government Issued ID, only a High school ID (last year they let me get my group's badges with my school ID but I don't wanna push my luck for this year...). I'm the only person in the group with enough money to pay for everyone.

2. Is the Group Leader picks up the badges rule going to be properly followed this year? Because last year your STAFF was giving me a hard time when I was picking up my group's badges. I had the paperwork and everything to show I was the group leader but they wouldn't give me my groups badges because I wasn't the "owner" of their badges. Luckily my group came with me on Day 0 so we were able to pick up our badges, but I really don't want to have to go this problem again.

3. Does the Group Name appear on anything (like our Badges)? I'm just wondering since we're running really low on time and can't decide on a group name lol.

(Not a staff member)
1. Yes I think you can, every year before this I've signed everyone in my group up and used my paypal to buy all badges, but have only been group leader one year. I don't see why you shouldn't be able too.

2. That seems really strange, we've never had problems getting everyone's badges so I can't explain that at all.....

3. I think I've read that the group name doesn't appear on the badge. Just the standard info that's on them every year.

Is the first person who registers for the group automatically group leader? Its just showing up alphabetically I think, so I want to make sure since I'm the only who can pick them up on thursday night.
Actually, I'm not 100% sure. When I tested it, the first person who was registered was the one who was the group leader. It may have been changed but if you want more clarification, you should e-mail [email protected] for more information.

I'll do that know just to get a for sure answer, luckily I have until friday before I buy them all anyway. Thank for the reply!

Its been about 24 hours with no answer yet so I'm coming down to the wire before the price jump happens. Does anything know the answer to this?

I think if I don't get an email back by 4pm today I will, just worried about getting it sorted out before the price jump.....

Registration / "Pickup Person" Designation Question?
February 27, 2014, 11:41:55 AM
I emailed registration and still waiting for an answer which I will come by the end of tonight, but I'd to know if anyone one else can help?

I registered myself first under my groups registration since I'm the only person who can pick them up on Thursday night and some aren't arriving until Friday night. But as I added more members the list started to be alphabetical by last name and I don't see any indication that I'm the pickup person like in previous years when it would show the list by order of when people signed up and paid. Is there something specific I need to do or is it automatic since I filled in my information first? I'm only worried because of the price jump coming on Saturday, hopefully I get this figured out by tomorrow morning.

Thanks for any help.

I think Clockwork Alchemy is overall a greater asset to Fanime. By combining efforts they have opened up additional much needed housing options for Fanime attendees. As for the money issue I'm sure that housing a convention at DoubleTree is considerably less expensive then at the San Jose convention center and Fanime draws in big name international guests while most of Clockwork Alchemy's guests tend to be local favorites. So I'm sure that Fanime is getting the lion's share of reg money. Not to mention that most of Fanime's big issues (dissemination of timely and accurate information, over crowding, insufficient housing) are not likely to be solved by simply throwing more money at the problem. In fact I'm consistently astounded by the number of people who complain about reg prices considering they still pale in comparison to Comic Con, and Anime Expo (considering you have to purchase addition admission for events). Of course this year they are allowing attendees to select their main reason for registering (Fanime or Clockwork Alchemy) so I'm sure they will get a good idea of how the money should be distributed as to not disadvantage either convention. I do find it a bit troubling that Fanime still doesn't have their website up and running. Anime Expo already has registration up for AMVs, Masquerade, and Exhibition hall (to name a few) and that convention isn't even until July!

Heck even SacAnime(which runs twice a year) changed the site at least two weeks after the last con to reflect the new dates, and they've already started announcing guests and have artist alley sold out and that con isn't until August. I think this is the slowest Fanime has ever started.
