Last I heard, registration and badge pickup will be set up in the hub.  Well, that solves the mystery of why G4 won't be available.   8)

I'm going to pull a mark rosewater and say maybe :)

Thank you for the update!

Are Gatherings G2 and G3 (tiered platform east and west) still in play for this year?  Or is that off the table as a ground floor gathering spot as well?

Those are still okay, and things shouldn't interact with those spots that's going into the hub. Least that's what I am being told.
Main Post got an update, ORGANIZERS SHOULD READ THIS.

When will the 2017 form be available?

I am waiting on IT to finish up changes, I hope to give a timeline by 2-11

Do you need to be a staff member in order to host a gathering?
No, Never needed to be a staff member to host a gathering. I will never make that a requirement, as that would make my staff list too long, and my hours spread too thin. I just set some rules down so you all can make my life with the bureaucracy a lot more, friendly.
Just a mini update, as I have gotten some pings asking if everything is still going. It still is, I just got a bunch of paperwork, and waiting on others, before I can give another update for you guys proper. That, and 96 hour work weeks are "fun".
We had a Shonen Jump gathering (Dragon Ball had a good run on it) and a metal gear gathering last year, we should wait however until the form gets up until we determine making a gathering before hand.
This, is something I want to cosplay at. Legitimately I will have a Roadhog cosplay built by May, so, boss man may appear here.

Yay! Thanks for the update! I pm'ed you but this update answers all my questions. I'll hopefully see you Jan. 8 - (I'll fill out the staff form just in case as well). Definitely want to help where I can since I got my megaphone and by this Fanime, hopefully have a portable loud speaker as well. ( I recommend to all cosplay gatherers to purchase or borrow some kind of voice amplifier so as not to lose your voice.

On another note - this Fanime, 2017 - marks the 10th anniversary of TTGL (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan) so I was asked by a few friends to bring this series back as a gathering :)

Who do you think I am to not let this happen?!? Go for it!
The one thing I'm bringing is a portable speaker with a mic and other connectivity that can be rented out for gatherings, but I can only afford 1 personally, so I will definitely push for you all to byo projection.
Also I haven't gotten any pm's since July soooooooo
1. In order to be considered to host a gathering, you must: 1. Create a thread in the Fanime Cosplay Gatherings forum and 2. Fill out all appropriate forms from the fanime gatherings department.

-This is to ensure that all relevant information regarding your gathering or any other gathering is in the same place. Creation of a facebook group is not required, but is recommended to get the word out about your gathering.

2. In order to maintain priority in leading a gathering, you MUST post in the forum thread every 2 weeks.

-This is to ensure that you are both dedicated to hosting, and to ensure that your gathering remains relevant and up-to-date.

-What is Priority? Priority is where you are assured that you are the head host of your gathering type. For Example, Person A has a gathering post and has submitted a form. As long as Person A keeps posting in the thread every 2 weeks, and or has posted in a 2 week gap of time (IE: I am going on vacation, and will be AFK for a bit), they will still be the host. However, If person B wants to host the gathering, and you have not posted in 2 weeks since the last post, the department will reach out to your email, and give you a one week warning. This means you have one week to reach back to the department or we will transfer priority to person B. Person B is obligated to 2 week posting in thread as well.

-This policy is to help with communications with your gathering goers and with the gatherings department. IF you KNOW you cannot post for an extended period of time, please contact the department as soon as possible. We understand that life happens, and we will do what we can to help.

3. The Cosplay Gatherings department has final say over gatherings.

Who hosts a gathering, what that gathering entails, or whether they happen at all is up to the discretion of the Cosplay Gatherings Department. Any dispute or issues that may arise concerning gatherings should be brought to the attention of the department. Infighting will not be tolerated and may result in the removal of your gathering all together.

PS The gatherings department loves you. ;) <3

I can't say. Its something I'm definitely going to improve on for next year. Unless I buy out of pocket a mass photo editing agency to handle editing pictures proper for you guys. I feel extremely bad that I can't give you this by year's end.

I personally have no qualms against people just coming in, just know that some people are there to unwind, so volume is a thing. beyond that, Come on in!

We do have that, in the means of the Cosplay Hangout. Its a place to cool off, fix your cosplays, and chitchat in a press free zone!
By my leather pants, the pharoh got it right on the nail. Its a juggling act for me to get it all right and to make it accessible for all.
The concept is there imo, it needs a good pitch to higher up the latter, needs to have relevence (if a game is released within the year, in example), and needs probably a lot of help of man power to get off the ground. If you can toss it all together, by all means I would go see it.

Do we have any estimate on when gatherings photos are going to be up? It's been almost a month, just curious.
I asked on this, we are hoping, hoping being the key word, that we will have them up in a month, maybe 6 weeks. I am trying to see what I can do to help, but only can do so much.
as for the rest right now,

bahamutknightzero : I was the organizer for Undertale, and tbh I severely underestimated the size of the gathering, My bad. And some of my photogs got some better pictures through the migration of the 2 gatherings due to the sheer size. Its kinda like what happened several years ago with the assassin's creed gathering doing the blend walk through the main drag to its secondary spot, some really neat shots happened there.

BeBop: I agree, but this year I ran myself ragged though con with the number I had under my belt, It is just a matter of having people step up to the plate and organizing the gathering. I can only do so much, I need help from you guys, the cosplayers.

Facebook rule: Don't get me wrong, I am hitting my demographic with facebook, the problem is, not everyone is on facebook/want to be seen on facebook. I really want to push for that, but I still want the forums used as a home base for all the gatherings, but having a grip out and about really helped my gatherings really skyrocket.

and photogs, I only had 3 this year, and I made it so I did not run them ragged (lets just say I used to do that and almost put myself in the hospital during con 2 years ago). So, If you want to help and know friends that wish to take photos for con, have them Email me at [email protected]

Things went fairly well at the gatherings I attended this year.  So overall, the experience was positive.  Just some minor comments:

1) A convention staff member misdirected me

2) At a small gathering at the G2 location, a couple attendees who were sitting by the stairs became incredibly upset when the staff photographer very politely asked them to move a little to the side so that they weren't in the shot.

1) I called them red coats (no offense) and one thing I have planned is working with facilities to see if I can get them a pocket "where is X" list so then they can easily point people where x, y, and z is. its all grey area right now, so dont set it in stone, but its an idea.

2) 4~5 years that spot has been used for gatherings. I find it weird that people have not caught on to it, but what my people did was the right thing imo. if people are getting mad, you can point them to the hub where there are tables and chairs they can use to cool off, as well as the hangout where its that and air conditioned. I will cook on that Idea though, its a means of costs.
