Registration / Tiny QR code
May 24, 2017, 04:31:49 PM
So my registration email has this really, really tiny QR code. I can't even get it to an inch square. Is this going to be a problem?

thanks!

Hotel and Facilities / Regular Rate rooms Available Now
November 18, 2015, 01:29:11 AM
So both the Marriot and the Hilton and the Fairmont have some rooms available over Fanime weekend, mostly Sunday and Monday. But I thought it was odd that they would have any at all. The Westin has full availablity.

Is Fanime not reserving as large a block of rooms this year?

The Doubletree also has full availablity, does that mean no Clockwork Alchemey?  :-\

thanks!

Just to be clear I am still seeing the

"Please Check Out and provide a credit card number to complete registration and confirm your hotel reservation."

error on my fully paid up, fully reserved Fanime reg. I was told months ago not to worry about it, and it would go away soon. Well it's still there and I just want to make sure that everything is ok.

Please be clear in your response,

thanks

Hotel and Facilities / Re: So...Waitlist?

The kicker is of course, as soon as you give up your room reservation you fall off the waitlist. So the whole process is a big game of chicken, with the room fee as the head smacking ending if you loose...

I just checked right now.

For 5/20-5/21 the following hotels have availability:
Double Tree
Holiday Inn San Jose Airport
Hyatt Place San Jose Downtown
Fairmont

Use such a reservation to get on the waitlist.

Just keep in mind that if you do not cancel that reservation (and thereby remove yourself from the waitlist) by 4/26 you will have to pay a penalty. With that in mind I'm not sure how useful the waitlist is as no one has any reason to give up a good reservation until then.

I appreciate the help, but it doesn't do me much good when all the hotels are marked as unavailable.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Fun at hotels

I have stayed at the MArriot, Fairmount and the Hilton in the 10 or so years I have been going to Fanime. They both have their good points. The Marriot has a really nice bar and restaurant, although both are expensive. The wifi is good and the rooms are quiet and comfortable. The service is not so great. I really felt like a second class guest there and I cringed every time I was asked "are you with the convention?". The Hilton does not have much of a bar or restarunt, or lobby space for that matter, and the wifi is not very good. The folks there are very nice though and I never once felt like a second class guest. I am somewhat concern about parking when staying at the Hilton, the last time I stayed there I had to park in public parking and was worried about getting a space...THe Fairmount is a very nice hotel, nice bar. The restaurant is expensive and not very good (unlike the MArriot which while expensive is very good). The lobby space is nice and the service good. I just don't like the walk to/from the convention center late at night, but that's just me.

YES, you WILL LOSE YOUR PLACE when you cancel.

base on 5 years of going to con with hotel each years.
Feb you usually see the wait-list move. If you don't have your desire by April
its likely you will not get it.

I will NOT gamble on stay after the 24th.

Well since in order to get on the waitlist you had to book some room some where (mostly the airport hotels), I'm betting there are a lot of people falling off the waitlist after the 24th. I am not willing to risk the $200 I will have to pay for a room I don't want if I don't get a room that I do want. What a mess!

So those who made a reservation for the sole purpose of getting on the wait list. To avoiding paying a nights fee penalty that reservation must be canceled by april 24th, a month before the con. If they cancel, will they then lose their place on the wait list?

thanks

Ok,this week, maybe. I checked fri-mon just now and *all* are booked. But that aside, at some point in the not too distant future they will be all booked. What will happen then, will anyone be able to be added to the wait list after that time.

You didn't actually ask a question about what you need clarified.

If you want to get on the waitlist, book a hotel from Wednesday to Thursday, there's still plenty of rooms left for that night.

The question is what happens after *all* the rooms are booked? Will anyone be added to the wait list after that?

thanks

Since all the hotels available in the online system have been booked now no more people can be added to the pool of people who can be added to the wait list.

Try changing the dates of the reservation request. Rooms should become available.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: So...Waitlist?

So just to be completely clear on this years wait list policy. To be added to the wait list you must have an existing fanime hotel reservation thru the online system. Since all the hotels available in the online system have been booked now no more people can be added to the pool of people who can be added to the wait list. So if you as of today do not have a room reservation you cannot be added to the wait list. People can be added, but only those who already have a reservation. If a room comes open at your requested hotel the reservation is moved from the hotel originally booked to the wait listed room. Son even once added to the wait list the original room reservation must be maintained in order to actually get the wait listed room.

I just want to make sure that I understand the policy.

thanks.

There are actually rooms still available at the Four Points and the Doubletree.

Just checked it right now - every hotel is marked as unavailable for the days I'm looking for (Thurs. to Mon.).  Still doesn't explain why I have to reserve a room before I can get on a waitlist.

I was told the same thing. So I booked a room at the airport doubletree, a place I have no intention of staying to get on the wait list for a hotel near the convention... I got on the wait list last year, but I don't remember if I had a room somewhere before that.

Having to have a room *somewhere* before you can get on the wait list would explain why even the further away rooms are completely booked so quickly...

This policy should ensure a lot of scrabbling near the cutoff dates to cancel rooms without penalty.

The group must be a minimum of 3 people total. That is including leader and additional members. If the system is not permitting a group of three there may be a problem and we should look into it. Please let us know if that is the case and we will look into it.

Thanks!

Yes that does appear to be the issue. I have three members and it seems to think I need to add more to my three to get to three for a group. I did notice that while my two members were listed by name in the order summary I was just listed as Fanime Member. Maybe the leader of the group is not added in properly when populating the group member count field, or some such...

Hi I just tried registration and I noticed a couple of issues. One "edit your registration" does not seem to provide a way to edit the added members information. I tried to register myself and my two daughters one of the fan names was wrong and now I don't see a way to fix it. Two, there are three of us, the minimum for a group, and yet reg asks me to add another member to reach three for group status. Three I haven't paid and I tried to start the process over completely but the site remembers that I got part way thru and will not let me start over.

thanks,
vicki
