Fanime Con: if it ain't broke, let's fix that.

I wonder why, for this year only, they didn't do a lottery system for when your hotel slot would be. Then next year base it on when you Reg.

Seems it would have been more fair than not knowing your chances of getting a hotel hinged on when you registered. Then next year they could have implemented it so people know what to expect.

Marriot was first choice but not available as of the 9am block today.
Managed to reserve a room (single) at the Fairmont. I hope the panels are at the Fairmont again because lately I've been going to more late night panels than late night anime. It's also closer to where I typically eat so I am happy. First time staying there. Hope it's a better hotel than the Marriot (where I have had issues before).

I got through on the international phone line. After calling a lot I was put on hold for a bit, and then the operator was really helpful and I got my room locked down. Even they were getting the lag.

Good job Fanime! Registration gets the con off to a fantastic start. Big thank you to everyone who made registration so painless this year.

There are surely folks who know this better than I do, but aren't there some cool bars around the con that would be a good place to gather (seen as the game is taking place only a short walk from there)?

I'm wondering if there will be a Naruto Storm 3 tournament.

My partner and I have been pushing for Narultimate Storm tournaments for like 3 years now but to no avail. I think the eGaming staff would require someone with knowledge of the game and the will (of fire) to put one on; maybe they don't have a person like that. :(

"union regulations at SJCC"???????  SERIOUSLY?  barf!!!  How insanely illogical!  Let's make a system LESS efficient by following inane "union" rules.  ugh!  I really hope that is not the case! 

Well, I think everyone knows by now that the lines will be long.  Like I said before, waiting for hours was actually fun.  It was an interesting way to usher the weekend in.

Yeah those "inane" union rules (I can do sarcastic quotes too!). All making sure people get paid a living wage, have safe and reasonable working conditions and have a decent standard of living. They're getting in the way of my anime fun time!

Thanks for the new info! I can buy my registration in Feb. when I'm not broke and still pay the cheaper price. Yay! :D

Got an email stating my reservation had been changed to a $91/night room.

Not sure if this is because of good work by either Fanime or CMRhousing, or if it's just because someone cancelled theirs and being on the waiting list I was able to get the reservation changed.

Either way, good job Fanime, and thank you. It's things like this that have kept me coming back to this con for nearly 15 years. :D

I eagerly await how Fanime/CMRhousing will make this right.

I am willing to give them a chance to do so.

That said, it would be absolutely absurd if I have to pay the price (~$200+, for some folks I'm sure even more) for THEIR mistake (whether it was Fanime or CMR, I don't honestly care).

That date has not been set yet. We had previous price breaks set, but are looking at extending them more. Long and short, can't really tell you yet.

Can we be reasonably assured it won't go up before Feb 1?

Mine didn't make it in :(  It must have been really bad since it was in comedy and there were so few entries. Oh well, there's always next year.

Any chance of this event returning for 2013?

It was one of my favorite video related events at fanime and it not being there last year was  :(
