Just remember kittan, don't believe in me who believes in you, don't believe in you who believes in me, BUT BELIEVE IN YOU WHO BELIEVES IN YOURSELF *Insert kamina death scene*

Take me off the list but don't put as casual, just down as photographer.

Oi, wanted to say unfortunatly I wont be part of gathering :( (DAT CAPE) and money issues, and can't complete in such short notice and was really busy and yada yada. HOWEVER I will be still attending (wouldn't miss for any reason) and will be filming the whole thing for the world to enjoy

If you don't have alot of people during the cosplay chess meet up's already then I suggest anyone that during the gatherings you have a sign or ask any passer-by if they want to join

Easy, Sengoku

Fanime or anime expo?

Hello everyone,

As you know on March 11th 2011 the massive Tohoku Earthquake struck Northern Japan. If you cosplay you have probably heard of the campaign called "Prayers from Cosplayers". By posting a photo on this page cosplayers from around the world can send Japan messages of hope and courage.

The response from cosplayers in Japan on the twitter feed has been amazing, if you have not added a photo and have been thinking about it, now is the time.

Send your pictures to the web page below with a message on an A4 size piece of paper or cardboard.

Please spread the word!

Dude, I feel completely stupid right now, I was thinking of TTGL and forgot that shoko did opening for her or something.
Please ignore all of my future post :-[

Anyone just read the new special guest anouncements?
HALKO MAMOI IS COMING BACK TO PREFORM AND HAVE PANEL, So in honor of the one who sung TTGL songs: Sorario days and happily ever after coming back for her 3rd year in a row. I propose we have a second gathering at music fest during her performance.

I thought it was Shoko Nakagawa who sang those songs.

She does, so does Halko now apparently. Well whatever she sung god knows

Was hoping this thread would get underway soon, will be doing wario on friday and my friend as marth

Also having my friend coming as marth

I usually use mario, wario, meta-knight, young link

I usually use Kirby,        , and Marth. Do you think there will be Brawl at Fanime?

Yes in gaming wise always, in cosplay wise not necessarily Brawl other then Nintendo in general but I'm cosplaying wario in original outfit while friend is doing brawl's white costume version of marth

General Convention Discussion / Re: Hugs lines or hugs in general?
« on: May 05, 2011, 05:04:38 PM »
I've explained the idea before, but I will explain it again.

"What's the point of hug lines".

Before you answer that, you step back and have to look at the people that are part of the hug lines.

Anime conventions and generally anime fans like with most hobbies outside of the social norm, are filled with just that. People that don't fit the social norm, or rather, socially awkward people. These are the types that generally aren't well accepted at school, never really fit in with the crowd, nor are they comfortable in the real world (before you attack me. Yes this is a generalization but it is a true one).

When they go to conventions they see it as a haven from the real world. That they no longer have to "conform" with the world and they can be who they really are (socially awkward people). This is why they think it's alright to do things that are normally socially unacceptable. Because they generally feel that they are unwanted or uncared about because they are socially awkward, they do things like make signs asking for hugs, because it allows them to feel cared about, wanted, accepted, a feeling they generally don't get outside of the con.

In the same vein you have people that act out and scream/yell. Repeating memes from the internet or acting out. They feel that conventions are a haven where they can do this, and it will be acceptable. Again things they would probably never do out in the real world, but they feel they can do it here.

Of course there's other places they do it, but only in numbers and when they feel safe, such as the protests of scientology. Which is funny because half the people that protest at those have no clue the details of things, it's almost as ignorant as the people who claim if you don't serve god you'll burn in hell and protest in front of fanime every year(see what I did there?).

So the point? It's to feel something they generally don't feel. Acceptance and appreciation for who they are. Is it appropriate? not really but it's not harming anyone. Is it incredibly awkward? Yes, of course it is. Does it make sense for them to do it? In a way yes, but it's still incredibly awkward and annoying because they push it on to people and do disrupt others mildly.

THIS, thank you for posting this so it can be a reminder for anyone that reads this so that anyone that does that at con's or plans to do so will at least think before they do so and we can have a much more pleasant con experience. (brofist here)
