This thread was created for the Fanime 08' gathering.  Since then, someone has taken off the date.  Also, since then there have only been 7 new replies.  I just hope, Mashizou, that you're not responding to the earlier responses.

That's all.  Air gear is cool!

Welcome, Fanime is loads of fun.  I look forward to it every year.

I hear dubbed Trigun is not bad.  I'd still recommend every anime to be watch with subtitles though.  The quality of voice actors is much higher in Japan for anime, imo.

I like how carefully the controllers are aligned for this pic.

I can second confirm that the power cord to the DC is just generic.  I use my PS2's cord and just swap it back and forth.  Hmmm...

PS3 game: $60
____________

DC: $30+
MvC2: $30+/[free if you know how]
-it really is a popular game and I doubt you can find it below or near this pricing.

Converter (controller right?): $15 or DC Arcade stick: found mine for $40

total: you're looking at $60+

What's so attractive about death note cosplay?  I don't get it.

(I do understand the problem with 14/15 year old girls standing on the street though.)

More music!
I only found one dealer booth through my venture (that wasn't exclusively J-rock or something), and absolutely [no] selection.

From my experience, music is one of the most costly items you would find in the dealers room.  An AKFG CD for example, went for $50 a few years back.

Here is another reference pic.

Note: The back of the inside shirt is curved with a "m" shape in the front.  I think the designers got this idea from tuxedo shirts.
Gloves are brown, not black right?

You could always apply to play at Stage Zero. ;)

Yeah, they kind of steal the show being in the center of the hallways.  That and their overpowering sound system.  So we'll either have to move downstairs, far left of the con or far right.  No biggie.

Best ways to make a cheap durable giant turtle shell...
I have chicken wire and paper mache so far and that's it

GO

Is that for a cosplay from WoW? Hence, Turtle shield from Boss' name I can't remember in Wailing caverns?

I think it was in 2004 when I dressed up as a Chunnin from Naruto.  I wasn't aware of the gathering happening that year and mainly walked around and asked for other people's picture.

Just this past fanime of 2008, I cosplayed Ikki from Air Gear because it looked like there would be quite a few people to meet up with on the gathering day.

This year my friend and I are trying to coordinate an anime we can both cosplay from.  It's rather difficult because he and I have somewhat different taste in anime.

Yeah, I'm still trying to work at where my group would perform.  It wouldn't be that big.  At most I'm aiming for an 8 piece band (maybe quartet/quintet).  Also, I think we would only performing for an hour at most so the flow of traffic shouldn't be interrupted (especially if we play on a early day).  Hmm...I am still looking for:

Drums/Percussion
...and perhaps a singer (female).  No bias, just that a lot of final fantasy songs are written for the female voice.

EDIT: A Violinist might have joined the ranks.

I'm still looking for active musicians with a desire to perform good music.  I'm now opening it up to Anime songs as well.  If this interests you please PM and let me know what instrument you play.

Thanks

Too bad fanime is only 3-4 days out of an entire year.  Oh well.  Makes it all the better.

I promise to try to meet new people.
I promise to attend at least one panel.
I promise to show up early enough to grab a freebie.
I promise to not rely on my skillz to sneak a camera through musicfest.  (Just leave it at home for the day)
I promise to not waste money on overexpensive games offered also at my university.
I promise to compliment cute girls on their apperance/cosplay ;)

Wow, interesting thread.  Red/blue were definitely my favorite.  The year it came out on gameboys I remember some people link trading through cables.  Trade my zapdos for your articuno.  Whoops, that wasn't an articuno, that was a crabby. (stuff like that happened)

I played yellow.  Beat the gold in Japanese and then bought Emerald about a year ago.  Both arguments are valid.  The original concept was revolutionary.  But with each addition, the gameplay became more refined and animated.  And then we got color!

But I'm glad we got out of the Pokemon craze (i.e 1999-2000).  Though some of those girls dressing up as something like a pikachu do look cute.
