I'm a little bit curious, since I might be arranging to show a movie or two for the people there.
I am Day zero is the best!! :D
I'm planning on going to pick up my badge and just check out the area. It's my first time at Fanime so I think I'll need an early head's up so I can get a feel for the place. ^^;

Haha I was hoping it would. Is there typically going to be a lot of people at Day 0?
I'll be as close to the front of the pre-reg line as possible, as I do every year.

Not really there are for the pre reg line but the hall are empty cause nothings happening besides the swap meet
Some staffers (including myself) will be there starting on Day -1. :P
Of all the years since 1994 that I've been going to Fanime, I had no idea there was a Day Zero, officially or not.
Do events actually happen during this time? I woulda gotten a hotel room for an extra day if I knew this was going on. :(

Officially, Day 0 is the day where the staff finalize their set ups and test all equipment (some of this starts before Day 0). Some departments that have finalized and finished testing their set up will open up and operate on a non-set schedule (for example, Stage Zero/Video Rooms might show some random videos).
For staff: it's a day to finish setting up and tweak layouts/equipment configurations without thousands of people around.
For attendees: it's a day to watch us set up and can be a cool way to see what the convention center is like with the equipment and a lot less people.
For both: it's a relaxing day before the convention gears up. :)

See you guys there in an hour! :V

I always thought Day 0 was last minute panic day for staff.... :-X
Well, I know I have a room booked on May 26 so not only will I be able to be there for pre-reg, but I am also gonna go see Kung Fu Panda 2. Anyone else seeing that movie?
I'm arriving on the Wednesday but that's mostly because I've got a really long and obnoxious plane trip to deal with, and I will desperately need a nap and a shower before I'm remotely human again. So I give myself the buffer day to travel, then I'm fresh for lining up on day 0.
Heading up Day 0 again this year, since I much prefer the opportunity to get settled in before the full insanity of things. Though I suppose I could say con's starting Wednesday in a way, because after work I get to pick one friend up from the airport (and then still try to get to sleep at a decent hour in spite of probably wanting to chitchat/cook/make more chocolate/finish packing). After that, it's about a four-hour drive from here up to San Jose, so not too bad day-of. And cosplaying Day 0, because I am that much of a dork. XD
Where do you come in from, Moonblossom, if you don't mind my asking? No stranger to those sorts of plane rides here, but I'm just curious. :3
I'd also like to know what time the pre-reg badge pick up will be begin on this mysterious Day 0.

Don't mind at all. Montreal, QC. Eastern Canada. I managed to get a direct flight into San Fransisco this year, so I've got a six hour flight and then about an hour's ride in a shuttle. I am very much looking forward to waking up at 4 AM eastern time to start the whole procedure :P
It's times like this I am glad I was diagnosed borderline narcoleptic. I can just curl up and go to sleep pretty much anywhere XD

This is an example of what will happen on day zero thanks to our fellow Fanime Logistics Staff.

Last year for Otakon, I spent 2 days in Baltimore for sightseeing before the con. I walked past BCC around noon on "Day -1". The first 6 people were already in the pre reg line - over 30 hours before reg opened.
I'm going on day 0 to get my (and my brother's) badges and go to the swap meet if there is one on that day.
There is definitely a swap meet on Day Zero, but don't forget, there is the "Pajama Party" or dance in Ballroom J.
Attendance the last few years has definitely reflected the lower attendance on day zero, but please stop by and hang out for a bit.
i've never been to day zero before. i'll probably try to go this year, but i have school and work thursday until 8. probably won't have time to pick up my badge though idk when the badge pickup hours are on day zero, but probably enough time to go to the swap meet *u*
I'm going to get my badge and then going to the swap meet. My friend and I will be checking in that day so we'll probably hang out until the swap meet.
I'll be there on day 0. Probably sorta early afternoon (or late morning). Depends on when I get my bum off of bed. Maybe I'll wear random clothes with my Stocking wig just for fun (day 1 will be my actual Stocking cosplay).
On day 0, is the parking next to the con center full hella fast (the one next to Almaden Blvd and the con center)? For the normal con days, I leave early to park there because it gets full but I never did for day 0 before.
Or I'll just end up parking on Woz. Whichever.
I WISH I could make it to Day 0 but sadly I don't have a license so I'm riding up with some friends from around the Modesto area.
Trying to con my brother into driving me up there just for pre reg pick up though XP Here's hoping!
I'm gonna chat with Jerry at Saturday's meeting, but I'm thinking that I'll show something on day 0, just for the people who are there.
Who thinks they'll come?
I went for day 0 last year, and since we aren't divvying up the hotel room a million ways it kind of isn't worth it monetarily to go, plus the time off work. PLUS my dog. So all in all I'd spend 50$ (hotel)+22$ (doggy day care)+ a day's work.
Aww, how I miss being youthful and without a big furry 2 year old and a full time job. =(

I'll be finishing it for Anime Expo. I never finished it because I wasn't motivated to do it (since I was motivated before to do it because one of my buddies was going to be Yui and another Mio but then it fell through).
If I can somehow squeeze time to make it before Fanime, I'll try to though!
If you see me on day 0, feel free to yell out Red Roses/Jill haha. :)
I will definitely be there Day 0! Swap meet has been a staple for me for the past few years, and I've pre regged ever since I started going about 7 years ago. Excited!
Don't Forget the first night of the dance is DAY ZERO.
I'll be there for Day 0 to get ready for Stage Zero.
Then again, a lot of FanimeCon staff will be there at Day ...
(thinks)Wednesday... -1... Tuesday... -2...
Day -5. To at least get some finalized plans set...
Seeing as I had a great time last year, I decided to prereg a few months back when it was 45$?
Anyways...how long do people stand in line in Day 0? Do I have to show up earlier than expected to get my badge?
Woot day zero in like five days swap meet then the dance sooo excited
asdfasdf ;~; I wanna go to the pajama party so bad!
Next year, I will try to convince my mom to let me go to Day Zero. If they cancel the pajama party, I will be very sad.
I will definitely be there on Day Zero ;D....But I don't have anything planned to do really, so imma just wander around and bug friends I guess(.^_^.)b

There seems to be a whole lot of things going on on Day 0 now; more than Day 0s from 5-6 years ago. Fanime is like a 5 day con now.
Definitely gonna be going on Day 0. Last year's Swap Meet was my first at the convention and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Can't wait for Thursday. 8)

Q: What time/days is Registration open at FanimeCon?
A: We will be open from Thursday to Monday of FanimeCon. Thursday, will be pick-up exclusively for Pre/Early-Registration attendees only. Times will be announced later.

Don't Forget the first night of the dance is DAY ZERO.
I'm going but PROBABLY just for my pre-reg badge. I might go to the swap meet for awhile but i'm not sure yet.
Last year was my first fanime, and i had a full weekend but ended up missing the first 2 days because i forgot i was going to be in utah until saturday morning, went saturday, got a no headlights ticket right after losing my license, and didnt go on sunday or monday.
so this year i decided that i would go to as much of the con as i can, especially after seeing pictures of a near empty arcade on day zero :o
i found a friend, and i'll be bringing him with me to day zero. I'm picking him up in sunnyvale at 8 AM, then we should be at the con center in line by 9 AM marathoning anime on his laptop and my ipad and such. I'll be a blond kid cosplaying takuto from star driver, but most likely no red wig on day 1. so look for someone in a school uniform from star driver, blond hair, and an ipad near the front (unless showing up at 9 am won't get us near the front haha) and come say hi :>
Anyone know what time is good to show up for the pre-reg line? I'm in school until 2 and it takes me about 10-15 minutes to get to the con center.
The other day i asked the same thing to some more seasoned fanime go-ers who do day 0 every year and they said usually show up around 2 or 3. i was planning on doing this until i decided to go at 9 am with a friend~
Ah good thanks this works out perfectly :)
I leave home for Fanime at 0430 Australian Eastern Time Thursday morning, or 1130am Pacific Time Wednesday morning.
I arrive in LA before I left Australia. ;D
This will be my first Fanime as well, but I typically go on Day 0 to mingle and pick up my badge. Is there anything else going on during Day 0?

And so it seems that quickly scanning the first three pages did me no good. Le sigh.
Alrighty then, I shall alter the above post into something different. I saw that a movie was suggested, so was anyone set on going to see Kung Foo Panda 2? I'd definitely be up for that.
Will come after work to pick up my badge. Last year I think I got there about 3, but this year I'm staying at work until about 3:45. Luckily for me my work is in SJ so it will be a short drive.
Will probably be in a Chi's Sweet Home shirt and depending on how much the line moves about, will probably be sitting in line handsewing. Pbbbbt.
< will be working in swap meet on that day. Come by, say hi & whatnot

Not really. I know of at least one other. Though they are coming from Brisbane and not Canberra, so a little bit closer then I am. I saw their flight arrive at LAX after I got into T4 to wait for my flight here to San Jose.
I also saw someone else with a Qantas issued boarding pass on my LAX-SJC flight. They
may be here for Fanime as well. I saw at least 2 people on that flight who were
clearly coming for Fanime.
On my way to Day 0 as we speak! On the wi-fi on the 17 express from Santa Cruz to San Jose. I should be at the center by 5.
HAVE FUN ALL YOU CRAZY PEOPLE!
The rovers are being hecks mean all of a sudden. Like epic evil
I'm already in line. When you say rovers, you are talking the staff, right?
Rovers are basically the security of Fanime. Chances are they are being "epic evil" because they have over a thousand hyped up teenagers in line all chattering and excited for a convention and they have to try and keep things safe. Not an easy job.
Have you hugged a rover today?

Na this rover was causeing a hazored. instead of steping out of line and walking in the free space (near front of line) she told us to go threw the line all 5 switch backs just to toss out an ice coffie drink. Harder to get threw the line like that than to bend under one yellow peice of tape and walk around.
