At times I was getting more StreetPass hits than I could keep up with!  Here's my breakdown for what I got at the con:

27558 steps taken

All puzzles completed!

362 UNIQUE Miis tagged (real Miis, not the Mario Kart SpotPass variety that do nothing.  I kick those bums out!)

19 different states (California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Montana, Texas, Louisiana, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Missouri, Tennessee, Ohio, New York, Virginia, Massachusets, Maryland)

5 different countries (United States, Japan, Ireland, Brazil, Portugal)

I was really shocked to see people coming from other states so far away, until I started getting them from other countries.  I didn't realize Fanime Con was so famous!

Anyone else get some interesting data?  Any other countries?

Wow! I attended Fanime last year, but a 3DS was far from reach. I now have one, and plan on attending a full weekend like last year, and my god, I'd love getting so many Miis~!

So far I have a lousy 11 in my Plaza, and 14 connected. (One of my friends connects with me everyday.) My regions are California and British Colombia (Went to SF).

I can't wait for it, we'll get so many more, and perhaps even pass each other! Did you just stay in the Gaming Corner, or did you wander around the whole area for Streetpass?

I pretty much kept my 3DS by my side 24/7 for all days of the con, wandering all over  There were times while waiting in line to pick up my badge I could barely even keep up with it.  The 3DS holds 10 in Mii plaza at a time.  As soon as I cleared out 10 and got my puzzle pieces and did find Mii, I'd get the alert that I had another visitor to the plaza, and 10 more would be in there... clear it again, and instantly 10 more!  By day two, I decided to limit myself to checking my 3DS only once an hour, or I wouldn't get anything else done at the con, lol.

When I woke up each morning in my room in the Hilton, I'd even notice I had recieved Street Pass hits overnight.  If you're a Mii plaza nut like me, an anime con is a gold mine.

Basically, if you have your 3DS on and the wi-fi on, and streetpass enabled, if come within proximity to someone else who also meets these conditions, your two systems will exchange Mii data, and data for other games that utilize street pass.  Kid Icarus can exchange found weapons, Mario Kart 7 exchanges ghost race data, and so on.

As to the technical aspect of how it works, I don't really know.  I don't know what interval the system sends out a check for systems near by, but I think it does this a couple times a minute at least (all guesswork here.)  For example, often my sister waits for me in the parkinglot when I get off work.  Sometimes my 3DS detects her the instant I come into wi-fi range.  Othertimes, it doesn't tag her until I'm opening her car door and getting inside.  There is probably better info on a Nintendo forum somewhere.

There have been times where my sister and I are out around town and I'll get a pass and she didn't, so hers must not have been in the same place of it's search cycle as mine was.  I got one while driving down the street once as I passed some kids, so it grabs it pretty quick.

Outside of anime cons, I've gotten the bulk of my streetpasses at Gamestop, Best Buy, and oddly enough, Winco Grocery store.

I just returned from a vacation in Japan.  In the two weeks I was there, I more than doubled my Mii Plaza population after two years of owning a 3DS in America.  It was really tough to keep up with it, especially riding the trains around Tokyo!  90% of them were playing Animal Crossing - New Leaf.  (new population total - 885)

I wonder what game will be most popular this year at Fanime Con?

Fire Emblem? not sure.

I was surprised to only recieve 2 Fire Emblem street passes in Japan - I had always heard the series was pretty popular.   I got plenty of Kid Icarus there too, an older game....

HatsuneMarku

I'm hoping to actually remember mine this time. I always seem to forget mine during conventions or other events. I think the only times I actually brought mine was a Japanese Festival in Arizona, a small con for the last day only, and Conji in SD for the last day only too.

But when I bring it I hope to catch up and finish all the puzzles.

Michi

Woohoo! This is my first anime con that I'll have my 3DS at and I'm excited! I'll have both my American & Japanese 3DS systems on me, though I only really check StreetPass tags with the American one. :) I'll have a Fire Emblem team to send out, and hopefully I'll be better at keeping it updated.

So.. Everyone bring your 3DS with you! :D

Japan was a StreetPass goldmine, oh man. I wish I had thought to check mine more often, but I still got plenty. Definitely like 50-100 passes a day. Best places were Akihabara (of course) and Tokyo DisneySea! Filled in almost every prefecture in Japan by the end of the trip, haha.
