yeah, i was the only one i knew of other than a really good Kasumi at a booth in the dealers hall. I'll damn sure try for next year.

so mad that I missed out. We got held up in traffic and I didn't get to the con in time change and get to the gathering...

see if you can get liquid fiberglass to coat the foam. Or you try solid fiberglass blocks, carve them down and shape for you blade.

wear gloves, goggles and face protection working with fiberglass though.  Check out an industrial hardware store.

This is what a friend of mine did for a cosplay one year.

I wore mine at last years dance. Had zero issues, quite a few compliments though.

When I think Puerto Rico (may be somewhat sterotypical) I see something similar to Cuba's red shirt and shorts outfit... Island theme, sort of..

but since you want to avoid sandals I'm thinking something like brown loafers... or a brown leather shoe w/o laces.

as far as shirts and pants go maybe a button-down cotton shirt of a bright solid color (white, lighter blue, yellow possibly pink if you can rock that color more power to you) and possibly light tan cargo pants... Just spitballin, maybe you can work from there! Good luck! Hopefully see ya at the 'con.

Yeah, a lot of the people I've talked to that go as fighting game/general fighting characters seem to want to stick with their genres and gatherings... I'm willing to branch out, I'll do a pose down with a Loli Maid if I have to. ;)
I had a pose fight with a freakin Chocobo last year, so this should be fun too.

Etiquette I try to uphold and hope others do as well is that you ask or be asked if the glomp/hug is alright. No means no, respect personal space. if yes by all means just don't get grabby... that's a completely different story, and possible lawsuit...
