Gaming / Dance Dance Immolation - DDR on fire eh?
June 06, 2007, 07:15:21 PM
DDR with a hot twist! (nothing dirty, more like something burning!)

The crazy part is, it looks like a weekly think. Not for the weak of heart or paranoid of flames though!

Crazyness. I'm surprised I didn't get sick.

Before I begin, E-Gaming Department management would love to thank every staffer working with us for pulling off another good year and pulling through a number of unexpected hardships that occurred.

E-Gaming is aware of a number of things that went right and wrong. One thing fresh on my mind is tournaments: it was brought to my attention that a tournament exceeded a certain time limit I requested and we will try to avoid that in the future. Also, I think people noticed the somewhat smaller console area - because of last minute changes and equipment issues, we could not deploy everything we wanted and this disappointed us. Hopefully it will be resolved and our connections more, "dedicated."

Also, this is not a final decision, but a general policy we keep in E-Gaming: we cannot simply accept a loan of equipment from an outside source other than our staffers: it presents a liability risk that we nor FanimeCon cannot accept. We were asked during the convention about it and we did make exceptions, under the condition that the loaner watches the equipment themselves. Next year, a new procedure or policy will be made about it.

Last, but more importantly, we will be in dire need of new staffers to continue this, as a number of our veteran staff are retiring. More details will be posted as post-Con and FanimeCon '08 planning begins.

This thread will be for feedback for the next FanimeCon ('08) and will also now cover PC/Console gaming plus Arcades, because of the previous thread and the common confusion to put posts about arcades here. If the dept. head leader of Arcade would like to use a separate thread for feedback/suggestions, let me know and I'll edit accordingly.

We are also watching the main comments thread for additional information.

Alot of words this time around. /hmm

Let the suggestions and comment making begin! Keep it constructive and to the point - FanimeCon Board rules apply here too. E-Gaming will be listening and watching.

I love this free wireless! Whoever set it up, someone give that man or a woman a drink!

I'll start this now, cause when I come home, I will drop my stuff and SLEEP. Anyways....

-----------

FanimeCon 2006 has come and go and it has been a kick-ass time! In a new location with arcades right next to us, I am impressed with the success of the room. Despite a few snafus, we still kicked ass.

I would like to thank the entire staff of E-Gaming 2006 for helping, assisting and pulling through. Without them, we wouldnt exist =)

To any staff that does want to return next year, I highly recommend you stay in contact me for now until we can begin the planning. To those inquiring about joining us, we will announce it.

We're taking suggestions and feedback on next year. There isn't any definates yes, but we are watching. We are aware of some of the issues and it is just some were just uncontrollable at con. We do strive to improve the best we can.

/feedback!!!!!

edit: changed the title to make more sense.

(Watch the edits come fast. )

I first off would like to apologize to everyone for the lateness of this. Unlike last year, not everything is happening as I thought it would.

This is the finalized schedule. I know its a few days before, but comments are welcomed. We do reserve the right to change the schedule around if there is a pressing need to @ 'Con. Also, if you need information, please do ask our staff at the con and they will be more than glad to answer the questions.

Sign ups are at the 'Con and they are first come, first serve. If you do sign up and do not show within 5-10 minutes of the tournament starting we will replace you with anyone in the crowd at random.

FAQ

Q: Are custom controllers like joysticks are going to be allowed this year?
A: Yes, but as like last year, they are going to be inspected for any possible cheating or non-stock modifications. We do reserve the right to say no, for any reason.

Q: Whats the format for the fighting games?
A: I know, for Soul Calibur 3, it is going to be a single elimination format. From last year's experiences, we felt this took way too much time for the intended purpose. We will update this thread and at con if there has been a change.

*More info is coming the next day.*

Gaming / E-Gaming Status, as of 4/25/2006
April 25, 2006, 11:18:49 AM
Gomen ne, i've been really busy on my end. I owe everyone a form of updating.

I'll keep it simple:

1) We are completely full on staff. That list got locked down 48 hours ago. I cannot take on anymore people.

2) Tournament list: its coming. Whats the delay? We've been requested by upper management not to conduct any tournaments that arcades will have on site. This had a huge impact on our tournament planning and we are working to the best of our abilities to get this finalized ASAP. To note what games were affected, by what I know already, is Soul Calibur 3 and Tekken 5. I'm rechecking the arcade lists against our tournament list.

3) Not alot of details about E-Gaming are out and i'm a bit later than usual. E-Gaming info thread incoming next week. There are some details I cannot say yet, because it is not finalized.

4) Equipment Loaning and Waiver form: If you have submitted to me a possiblity of loaning equipment (game copies that are legit, hardware, etc), please contact me ASAP so I know who you are! There have been some changes to our needs. Also, with the exception of a few that talked to me eariler in the year, we are no longer accepting personal computer loans. Any non-staffer that is loaning equipment to us needs to be cleared by me (Felicito Signo) and then the waiver form signed at the day of our set up on Thursday.

E-Gaming staff - i'll state in a future internal meeting and/or email about how it works for staffers. There is a system in place, but every staffer that is loaning equipment is required to sign it before we deploy it.

Thats all I got right now. I'm alive yes, but busy. Again, the E-Gaming info thread is being posted next week. That will conclude tournament information if it is finalized.

Need to contact us? [email protected] is up and running. I do keep an eye on this on a regular basis.

I've decided its time to release some level of info about the upcoming tournaments we will have having. Remember, none of this is official until we say it is. We are doing this thread to see what's "hot" out there and prepare prizes accordingly. Also, this thread is also here to discuss possible tournament styles/rules, so we can keep everything within one thread if possible.

The following list is what have either considered or require a interest check:

Console Tourny's

Soul Calibur 3 (US PS2)
Naruto GNT 4 (US or Import GC)
Halo 2 (US XBOX1)?
Super Smash Brothers Melee (US GC)
Guility Gear X2 #Reload (XBOX, with the possiblity of XBOX -> PS2 converters)

PC Section Tourny's

None at this time, because of site license requirements. However, we do have a "list"

Warcraft III with Frozen Throne
-A possible DoTA map tournament as well, if we think this is possible.

Handheld PSP/DS Tourny's

Need some suggestions =)

Need a interest gauge check

Tekken 5 (US PS2, just checking to make sure)
Guitar Hero (PS2, need more info)
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (XBOX360 most likely)

-----------

Note: The following above will require additional consoles and copies of the said games. Please send any loan/donations proposals to [email protected] OR via Forum PM. Anything loaned to us is subject to approval first by me (Chito aka Umi) or my second Brad, and also upon given to us at the con, you will be required to sign a loan/donation waiver.

If we are missing something from the list, let us know!

Even though it is not part of E-gaming, I'll help out and throw in a thread for arcades 2005 feedback. This should help with some planning of next year.

Go to this thread that is the main FanimeCon 2k5 feedback thread and post there. However, if you want your input about just arcades, either thread is fine, unless i'm horribly wrong and need to be smacked =P
