Thank you to anyone who attended either panel! Both audiences were awesome~

If you have any suggestions (for series we should make into mad libs or just in general) feel free to reply or send a message here, or on our tumblr page!
We will be posting a few of our mad libs for you to play on your own or with friends as well as info for any future panels or events.

That being said, we are currently looking into expanding and bringing our panel to other conventions in NorCal as well as SoCal - any info will be posted on our tumblr so look around for us!

This year I helped with running the Homestuck gathering, and we got through 34 photo groups in less than 2 hours (which I still can't believe)

If you're looking for volunteers to assist at Fanime 2015 or SnK gatherings at other NorCal (and maybe a couple SoCal) cons, please let me know because I would be happy to help make things work!

My concern is Fanime's ability to regulate this anywhere aside from at-con.

The panel approval process was slow nonetheless, and logistically I don't think they would be able to a. ask panelists about potentially sensitive content in their panel(s) and/or b. survey the material  and still have a process that works relatively quickly (even having it in a terms & conditions type thing might not work because there's a good chance panelists either won't read it or will just agree with it to get through)
That said, I do know that a panel called "A History of Lolis" was accepted and then pulled, which I appreciate because it's explicitly obvious that pedophilic material will be present (and I know it's gotten through in past years, which means that Fanime is on an upward trend as far as being aware and considerate goes)

I think it's reasonable to have Fanime staff ask dealers and artists to hide artwork or merchandise that has sensitive depictions of assumed minors, and have multiple strikes against them mean they are unable to attend the following year? But it's tough to find that balance, and I know that many artists and dealers feel pressure to provide what will sell (tying into the whole "loli/shota is a part of anime culture itself") and may overstep their own ideologies in the process.

In the dealers' hall, just $50 for two shirts.
I've gotten really picky about figures which is probably a good thing haha.

I just want to say thank you to all swapmeet staff and volunteers! I had a wonderful time selling on Friday and really appreciate all you did to make things work!

Anyone know of any good Italian restaurants near the convention?

I've never been there, but I've heard good things about Original Joe's, which is literally a block away from the convention center.

I really like Giorgio's but it's definitely a drive or bus ride from the convention center.

Hello Homestuck fans! Happy day zero eve!

My name is Kate, and I'm one of the assistants who will be friendleading the gathering!
All of the organizers and assistants have been working hard behind the scenes to make this gathering fun and successful

We are now confirmed for 4pm on Sunday and we ask you to please plan to arrive promptly so we can kick things off as soon as possible, allowing for a swift and smooth running gathering. If you arrive late, there is a chance that you may miss your photo group, so please pay attention to the photo lineup in the first post.

If any altercations or concerns arise, I - as well as the other gathering friendleaders - will be happy to assist with any issue we are able to handle.
We plan on wearing bright green sashes or similarly obvious markers, so keep a lookout for us! We want this to be the best gathering we can manage!

I wish you all an awesome FanimeCon and hope to see you there!

Just to be clear... Swap Meet is at the same time, right?

"Swap Meet will be open to fans Thursday and Friday Starting at 7:30pm and will close at Midnight."

I noticed some posts saying we'd get kicked out at 10:30 pm, but then it sounded like that was if we were in South Hall, and Civic Center is still okay for the Midnight closing.

Any info on when check-in will be, and if we'll have pre-assigned spaces?
Check in will be 6:30-8:30pm, and it seems as if the spaces are assigned based on lineup order?

also speaking of cheesesteak... a couple years ago i went to the cheesesteak shop (that's its full name) and they gave everyone in our group free soft drinks and i think a 10% discount because we had fanime badges! it was very nice!

That must have been back around 2011.  IIRC that year Fanime teamed up with several local restaurants to give attendees discounts by simply presenting your badge.  However, I don't think they continued with that.  At least, I don't remember those deals being advertised last year or 2012.
It was 2012! I don't think it was advertised but it happened.

Easiest way is to take the 23 westbound (towards De Anza College) and take it to either Saratoga and walk south (towards the green hills) or take it to Kiely and catch the 57 or 58 south (towards West Valley College)

Google Maps is your friend, they have good transit info imo!

Also I recommend springing for the day pass if you plan on taking the bus - $6 per day, and it's automatically calculated if you're using a clipper card.

If we're waiting for the panelist/staff/etc instructions, how long should we expect to wait for them?

I'm #749.

Also if anyone is worried about being stuck at step 5, it looks like you're set once you get past step 3:
QuoteIf you make it to step 3 within the 20 minutes, you'll keep your place in line.

It's still 6:57?

@Decantus, I know a lot is up in the air but will we be getting some significant advance notice (at least a day before) for swap meet reg?

I intend to give 48 hours notice before Reg goes up.
Awesome! Much appreciated!

What is this civic center we speak of? Explain explain.
Across the street from the convention center, where Masquerade is usually held.
