Aaaaaand cue the fangirl rage.  :P

I haven't read it or seen it, but the only ones I know who have read it are teen/tween girls, and they've all seen the movie AND own all books, and ALL think that Edward Cullen is a human orgasm.

Hardly seems like heavy-hitting reading to me. If this took off, why couldn't Jumper have? Maybe they'll make a seq— never mind.

Go2, or Fastway and Ace of Initial D.
They've been doing gigs in Italy, alongside Domino (Parapara Paradise, "Mickey Mouse March", along with countless others) and Giorgia V (famous Italian cosplayer and Eurobeat singer). Perhaps Avex would be willing to extend their reach to places in which their iTunes albums could stand the boost in popularity, in a venue that is more than willing to accept them?

I love how they assumed that there were no Christians attending Fanime. (NEWSFLASH, protesters! Anime is a MEDIUM, NOT A GENRE.)

It'd be fun to see them back, haha. I also like to imagine the 'real' Jesus is looking down at it, facepalming like crazy.

Darkse1d, I doubt anyone took the protesters seriously, so no "fanning the flames" there.

...you think we need one more.

...alright. One more."

Don't forget that Eurobeat counts as J-Pop, and is also found in game soundtracks and Initial D.

(It's also in ENGLISH~)

Live Programming and Events / Re: Karaoke registration
January 26, 2009, 09:45:14 PM
If I may add, it is VERY much in your interest to register pre-con for the Karaoke. SCHEDULE YOURSELF EARLY unless you have nerves of steel to bear through the first round of contestants and have ABSOLUTELY nothing else to do.

(Me? Bitter? No...)

"What is this 'Yowie' thing our child's friends keep talking about?"
"..."  ;D

All joking aside, there's lots of ways to meet new people at Fanime, and 99% of the time they're very friendly! (I'm including the crowd that's "too friendly"; estimating, the 'healthy'-friendly crowd rounds out to about 95% of Fanime.) In my first day, in line, I was in line with a brother and sister, and I noticed she had some pretty cool keychains on her backpack. Almost an hour later, we were deep in a conversation on the underrated games on the Nintendo 64. Very few people at Fanime have much to hide, if anything.

No matter your money, BUDGET IT. That's all I can say about money.

This is going to be my first Con, provided I can get everything in order and the stars align in my favor.

Any tips that could be shared, like which hotel to book at, who to book through? What is allowable for props. Stuff like that.
You'll have a lot of fun. IF! You do the following:

*KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR MONEY! It's never fun to realize you can't afford the next thing you're looking for, within the first day of the con! Keep a budget, INCLUDE your hotel fees, food, and whatever you will spend money on.
*PREREGISTER, if you can. MUCH less hassle to wait in the pre-reg line than the on-site purchasing. Cheaper, too.
*HANG OUT WITH PEOPLE. I cannot stress this enough; I tried going to one of my Fanimes mostly alone; it was NOT a fun experience. HAVE PEOPLE TO BE WITH. Which leads me to my next point, which is equally important:
*For the love of God/Gods/Whatever you worship/believe runs this planet, SHOWER. People will not want to be friendly to you, sell things to you, dance with you, or even be within an x-foot radius (x = integer value, rounded up from how bad you may smell) of you if you smell. Not fun for you, not fun for anyone. Shower. Do it.
*PLAN DOWN TIME. If you over-schedule yourself, you'll lack the energy and joy of doing the things you really came for! Take a breather, take in a show/showing/event that does not require motion. Fanime involves a LOT of walking (if you're really taking it for what it's got), so just be ready for that. Fanime may be a 24-hour con; regardless, GET SOME SLEEP. You'll be VERY glad you did.
*ASK BEFORE YOU TAKE PHOTOS OR GLOMP. Failure to comply could lead to you suffering unfortunate consequences, be that the general distrust of the individual or ejection from the con depending on the severity.
*If you're doing a Cosplay Skit, do NOT do the Hare Hare Yukai dance. It is overdone, no questions asked.
*HAVE FUN. As much as this should be a given, I saw a few people who were there simply to complete their collections, or to outperform everyone else at a game, or... you get the picture. That's the whole point of the convention— have fun! Enjoy what's around you!
*Go to the swap meet if you want... pretty much anything the stores don't already have. Seriously. GREAT stuff at cheap prices. I scored some Ranma manga at SUPER-cheap prices, and a couple Super Eurobeat albums for even less coin.

I can't quite jump on right off the bat, but this does have my interest. I play keytar and sing, and also write my own stuff (www.myspace.com/travisodyssey). Depending on how the Spring semester is in terms of money and school, I may hop in, with some material of my own. :3

Get a Job, get my music published on Super Eurobeat, save $1000 and set it aside, and buy new tires.

That may be one of the most offensive drinks I've ever seen.

I HAVE to have one now.

Alright fine. You've all finally got me. My first legitimate experience of moé which I cannot deny.

Lucky Star OVA. Tsukasa Hiiragi,
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I don't think I've ever wanted to give a fictional character a hug so badly. *snif*

Ranma in Spanish was actually really really really good. I can't say the same for Saint Seiya though.
Actually, I didn't mind Ranma in English much either. It wasn't BETTER dubbed, granted, but a select few voice actors did make it one of the better dubs, for my money.
In particular, I give props to Ted Cole for actually delivering nearly the same passion as Suzuoki, and Michael Donovan for not sucking as Ryoga.

Michael Beyaer (Gosunkugi) shouldn't have touched the mic though.

Depends on how things go. As of right now I have a potential band audition that day (not sure what time), and a slight chance my brother's coming back from University that day too.

I do want to see you all again though. How far from Scotts Valley is San Ramon?
