Hotel and Facilities / No Parking Discounts This Year?
January 12, 2018, 07:44:57 AM
Taking a look at the hotel information and noticed parking is much more expensive for all hotels this year. In the past it's usually been a 50% discount on parking for Fanime guests, was that not part of the contract this year?

Registration / Reg Line

What the heck happened to the super smooth reg system? Awkward snaking lines from the Marriott onto the con floor.

Registration / Registration moving to Marriott
May 03, 2016, 07:23:12 PM
Thought I'd share this update I saw on facebook today. Registration is moving this year to the San Jose Ballrooms in the Marriott.

I imagine this will free up that room for other uses. It was basically empty every time I walked by, kinda a waste of space since reg became so streamlined.

Video Programming / Live Action Lupin 3rd
February 03, 2015, 03:26:41 PM
Assuming it will be released and subbed in time, I'd really love to see the live action Lupin 3rd movie at Fanime. You played the trailer last year during your late night Friday/Saturday video offerings, and it really would be a crime to tease us like that and not show the actual movie.

Hotel and Facilities / Pre Reg required for Hotel?
October 31, 2014, 08:40:38 PM
This past year there was talk of having to pre reg in order to reserve a hotel room through the Fanime Housing system. With Pre Reg opening soon, and Housing opening soon after, I'm curious if I'll have to purchase my registration first to book a hotel, or maybe just sign up for registration even if I haven't paid yet?

Also, when will we be getting the hotel information? Are there even more hotel options this year?

I don't doubt that all this information is coming, but to have an annoucement made with no details included is mildly frustrating .

Video Programming / Video Room Feedback
May 31, 2011, 12:31:44 AM
I didn't make it to the scheduled feedback, so I thought I'd make a thread for it.

Overall, there seemed to be a lot more issues with running the video equipment this year. People who couldn't find the right file would either continue looking for another 10 minutes instead of calling someone and asking for it to be sent over or would just play something random instead of what was meant to be played.
On that same idea, those operating the viewing rooms often seemed to just turn it on and leave. It would take a minute or so of attendees yelling 'Hey, it's broken!' for someone to get back and try to fix it.

Proper time didn't seem to be alloted for all showings. Project A-ko was 90 minutes long, but since it was in an 1 hour time slot, it got cut off before the end.

No more Midnight Madness? Why? Personally I was a bit disappointed with the send off. I would have rather it show most requested videos instead of just all the shorts.

Some things advertised were't actually shown either. Like Highschool of the Dead and K-On!. I wasn't able to find them at least.

As for what was decided to play, I had no complaints. Most of what I was interested in seemed to play at around 4am, but at least it was played.
Angry Videogame Nerd, Nostalgia Critic and Zero Punctuation were all entertaining and got great crowd reactions.
I enjoyed having Abridged Series playing on all days.

Hotel and Facilities / Fanime Room Keys
May 26, 2011, 03:29:33 PM
The Hilton has special Fanime themed room keys! I'll have to take pictures of them for everyone to see.

Any other hotels doing this?

Just checked the San Jose Hilton website and it seems the pool will be closed the duration of the con. Who else thinks this isn't a coincidence?

We had to sign waivers last year stating that we wouldn't cause trouble or mischief, and now this. If attendees don't clean up their act I don't think the Hilton will be wanting anything to do with Fanime.

EDIT: Seems the pool will not be closed, good news.

Registration / Suggestion for Group Reg
March 14, 2011, 06:33:35 PM
I suggest including a button to pay for certain members of your group at a time. I like creating the account for all members in my group at once and then paying it off as I get their money. This way I know I haven't forgotten anyone. With the system as it is now, you have to pay for all unpaid members of your group at the same time.

So, this is the second year in a row that I've missed Fanboy Bebop. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Hotel and Facilities / Hilton has a fanime waiver
May 27, 2010, 04:15:11 PM
Just checked into the Hilton. This year they have a waiver for Fanime guests. From what I understand they've had problems with our con in the past. The waiver explains extra costs associated with extremely messy rooms, use of hair dye in the room, elevator service fees and general hallway rowdiness.
